i cant find it either – seems Hull are still playing!
TSF needs to start is better than NL so thanks Dec but move aside
Ashbee also better than NL and Evans looked happier too
No idea why Hurt played in CM – but as said earlier hard not to look ok against Sutton
The biggest surprise was that after going 2 up AB didn’t bring defenders on for midfielders/attackers and end up with 5-4-1. It was just personnel changes, let hope it’s a lesson learned2 users thanked author for this post.
yep – Butler’s last throw of the dice
Jeez just heard Butler’s Humberside interview (great questions BTW) he has no idea. When asked what was the plan for today, he couldn’t answer talked about what it was after we were 2 down. One answer he gave he talked about Parker and Gale up front. No answer to why we don’t make teams worry about us.
Hopefully he will listen back to it and realise he should be able to answer all the questions clearly. No wonder the players are confused.2 users thanked author for this post.
The defence after Ashbee on should be good enough. The starting front 6 chosen should be good enough. Sadly its becoming its Butler who is at fault. He has to get decisions right
Goalie – the kids will be fine but in a few years. Get an experienced one for now
The defence is slow don’t try a high line anymore or find a quick defender.
Butterfield talented but is not a 90 mins player – either start or finish with him, but have a clear plan.
Whitehall and Howe either use them or get rid. ABs management of them is poor. And when you get anti Whitehall officials like yesterday he is no use. Dec comes on and try’s too hard as it doesn’t look like AB believes in him. Loan players are ahead of him!
Decide how you want to play and just get good at that. Butler and the players are not good enough to be making changes on how to play every week. Fine to say be aware of x player, stick close to y and they will try this on corners but jeez we are NL. Get good at how you want to play and impose us on the opposition.
The silence of the crowd yesterday for the last 30 mins showed no belief in his team. Not sure how long it will be before it then turns against him3 users thanked author for this post.
Notice how Carlisle defend a lead by attacking not sitting back inviting attacks
Was is it Clough or Shankly who said they don’t score if the ball is in their box? And they don’t score if you have the ball, or similar. The Simplest of games over complicated today.
Just put round pegs in round holes. 5 at the back if that what you believe in but have wing backs don’t use wingers expecting them to defend. Poor Jones, AB wasting his talent.6 users thanked author for this post.
i’d agree illness is a cover for something else. If not, it’s an odd illness indeed. Worry for him, he was not missed last night, the 2 lads did well for first go as stating pair

August 29, 2026 at 7:39 am in reply to: Howe Can We Not Integrate A Proven Goalscorer In To Our Team? #327007the lad who came from Alt looks better already!
1 sub came on and scored and 1 didn’t
He’s a decent Nat League striker nothing to get worked up aboutAgree with all Cass – only possible question mark, Richards and Rowley could be ok if the full backs pushed on to the opposition box (try Horton and Ogle)and the third midfielder went passed the striker. Which Beestin you expect to do, and does show as a sub!
What is the the issue with P Jones, pulling his shorts up and hitting his thighs, clearly should have gone off 15 mins before he did.why would you turn up for a fitness show – did well to get 1310

to save time many on here could re-post their moans re friendlies from last season.
We were doomed after a the results/performances we had last year. Iron Awe is spot on.
Lets see points total after 10 games – any thing over 18 will be decent2 users thanked author for this post.
i’ll see who sign before having any expectations. Last June only Roberts of the 3 to leave was here and it turned out ok

Hope so – a winger that scores 20 goals in a poor side will do for me
“Beestin when properly fit is better than both of them because he creates things and has a goal in him. Not quite as defensively disciplined as Westbrooke and Ewing so our cautious manager never started him unless he had to.” 100% agree
If a league club doesn’t come in for Ewing perhaps he’s not as good as we think he is. And lets be honest there wasn’t great excitement when we signed him to think play-offs here we come. Lets see what we start with in Aug before we give up on the season

Yep hours footy coverage 55 mins Hull, 4 Cods and 1 for us. The only possible up is all the rearranged games for Hull away from Sat @ 3pm. Hullberside will have to fill with us and Cods
Jeez all that matters is the squad/team for game #1. Not filling helping to fill pages on here with signings of players through the summer. Last year the gripe was about ‘easy’ pre-season games
Can see the Strength of Yorks squad when they release the golden glove holder and they had a squad of 28 under contract.
not sure how recruitment can be criticised at the same time post as saying how good Roberts and Ewing have been. Farrell was decent, Westbrooke, Jones wingers looks good. Not all have worked out Beck, goalies, (though Jones is improving rapidly and is not young) etc but which club has a 100% success rate on signings. Overall AB has got a lot more right than wrong

Farrell on a season long loan would be good business

The club do need to explain how we have got to this mess, what did our club do to prevent it?
A season ticket holder should have been given the opportunity to buy a ticket. To log on at the appropriate time and there be none available is to deny a perk of buying a season ticket. Perhaps they should take it off as a reason to buy one!?
The number of tickets you could buy should have been set so if every season ticket holder bought their allocated number there would be say 10/20% left for general sale. As it is either us, Rochdale, the league who’s game this is or all 3 do appear to have shafted the fans.3 users thanked author for this post.
seems Rochdale allowed 6 tickets to be bought per season ticket!? Rumour or true not sure
McCann the unprofessional one. No reason to comment on Butler giving a honest answer to a question.
Don’t think Sharp needs his ego massaging by Butler. People moan they aren’t kept in the picture and when they are they still moan.1 user thanked author for this post.
AB has chosen his approach of resting and rotating over momentum. Southend had no choice as they were still chasing confirmation. If we are beaten comfortably then he got it wrong. A defeat then fine, 5 of these 6 teams are close based on the season. I would have liked to have seen more goals scored but its not my decision, it is ABs and judgement will follow Tues night

Players have been told getting to the play-off is a successful season. Hence we’ve stopped playing.
AB thinks they will turn it on from Tuesday. Hope he’s right, but i doubt it. Tuesday winners will beat Rochdale, who will take some lifting, like York failed to do last season.Fail to win today and we will be away at Southend in the play offs.
The worry is AB’s plan for 5th wont come to fruition. Aim for 3rd come 5th, aim for 5th come 7th. Like playing for a point doesn’t work!!the error was no one followed their runner they all focused on the big striker who was stood offside but didn’t go for the ball. Jones’s is asset he is better under pressure late on. Our defending is not going to improve this season – just need forward play to better than opponents. Will need good news before 5pm today as 3 loan players have now gone back.

Better effort and work rate. But lot of huff and puff and aimless long balls and not a lot of football played. 3 points is what matters the most. Especially our inability to defend at all. Yes Starbuck scored which was great but he is part of that defence and his crossing was awful.
Hirst looked like a player, pity he was injured
Farrell looks a good ball player so far but better in a 3 and Whitehall was too tired to even wind anyone up.
Jones if started would have gone off – had 7 stitches. Better as impact last night.
What matters is following it up with a win on Tue.1 user thanked author for this post.
I have no problem with Butler but he has to take the blame for that. The way he talked about Sutton i thought they were football gods. There were awful, hoof ball to speedy forwards. But Butler knew they would be too quick for our slow defence. So we ended up with the midfield not getting forward enough to support the front 3. Rather than impose ourselves we set up to stop them. And again it didn’t work.
A foul in the first 30 seconds and nothing given, they played the ref well who they dominated.
We are good when we get the ball down and pass and move at speed. Failed tonight.
Winger looked good at times. But as we all know we need a defence. Horton (not on great form) and Rose (next season) aside are all hopeless.Smith needs game time. AB said he came here not having played much. Farrell is match sharp and very good, but not a Smith replacement, more likely Dausch would be and Farrell in theory replaces Whitehall – which isn’t going to happen. i’d be more inclined to keep a winning team.
Signing Roberts would show the benefit of giving Butler a contract. Whatever division we are in Roberts is good enough for a contract. And clearly Roberts wants to play for AB.
It would have no impact on any other player contract talks as none could say they were better than him and deserve one more -
