not sure how recruitment can be criticised at the same time post as saying how good Roberts and Ewing have been. Farrell was decent, Westbrooke, Jones wingers looks good. Not all have worked out Beck, goalies, (though Jones is improving rapidly and is not young) etc but which club has a 100% success rate on signings. Overall AB has got a lot more right than wrong

Farrell on a season long loan would be good business

The club do need to explain how we have got to this mess, what did our club do to prevent it?
A season ticket holder should have been given the opportunity to buy a ticket. To log on at the appropriate time and there be none available is to deny a perk of buying a season ticket. Perhaps they should take it off as a reason to buy one!?
The number of tickets you could buy should have been set so if every season ticket holder bought their allocated number there would be say 10/20% left for general sale. As it is either us, Rochdale, the league who’s game this is or all 3 do appear to have shafted the fans.2 users thanked author for this post.
seems Rochdale allowed 6 tickets to be bought per season ticket!? Rumour or true not sure
McCann the unprofessional one. No reason to comment on Butler giving a honest answer to a question.
Don’t think Sharp needs his ego massaging by Butler. People moan they aren’t kept in the picture and when they are they still moan.1 user thanked author for this post.
AB has chosen his approach of resting and rotating over momentum. Southend had no choice as they were still chasing confirmation. If we are beaten comfortably then he got it wrong. A defeat then fine, 5 of these 6 teams are close based on the season. I would have liked to have seen more goals scored but its not my decision, it is ABs and judgement will follow Tues night

Players have been told getting to the play-off is a successful season. Hence we’ve stopped playing.
AB thinks they will turn it on from Tuesday. Hope he’s right, but i doubt it. Tuesday winners will beat Rochdale, who will take some lifting, like York failed to do last season.Fail to win today and we will be away at Southend in the play offs.
The worry is AB’s plan for 5th wont come to fruition. Aim for 3rd come 5th, aim for 5th come 7th. Like playing for a point doesn’t work!!the error was no one followed their runner they all focused on the big striker who was stood offside but didn’t go for the ball. Jones’s is asset he is better under pressure late on. Our defending is not going to improve this season – just need forward play to better than opponents. Will need good news before 5pm today as 3 loan players have now gone back.

Better effort and work rate. But lot of huff and puff and aimless long balls and not a lot of football played. 3 points is what matters the most. Especially our inability to defend at all. Yes Starbuck scored which was great but he is part of that defence and his crossing was awful.
Hirst looked like a player, pity he was injured
Farrell looks a good ball player so far but better in a 3 and Whitehall was too tired to even wind anyone up.
Jones if started would have gone off – had 7 stitches. Better as impact last night.
What matters is following it up with a win on Tue.1 user thanked author for this post.
I have no problem with Butler but he has to take the blame for that. The way he talked about Sutton i thought they were football gods. There were awful, hoof ball to speedy forwards. But Butler knew they would be too quick for our slow defence. So we ended up with the midfield not getting forward enough to support the front 3. Rather than impose ourselves we set up to stop them. And again it didn’t work.
A foul in the first 30 seconds and nothing given, they played the ref well who they dominated.
We are good when we get the ball down and pass and move at speed. Failed tonight.
Winger looked good at times. But as we all know we need a defence. Horton (not on great form) and Rose (next season) aside are all hopeless.Smith needs game time. AB said he came here not having played much. Farrell is match sharp and very good, but not a Smith replacement, more likely Dausch would be and Farrell in theory replaces Whitehall – which isn’t going to happen. i’d be more inclined to keep a winning team.
Signing Roberts would show the benefit of giving Butler a contract. Whatever division we are in Roberts is good enough for a contract. And clearly Roberts wants to play for AB.
It would have no impact on any other player contract talks as none could say they were better than him and deserve one moreThe subs weren’t the issue – as soon as we took the lead the all the players ‘declared’ just sat back and assumed Solihull had given up. Suddenly Whitehall is tired and stopped running, midfield didn’t make a tackle, defenders do what they best at present stand a stare.
It was a poor ending from professionals!
Positives were Farrell – he had good ball control and could go past a man
Whitehall focused on football. (The red was for Solihull was deserved)
Ewing was back to making tackles again and getting around the pitch
Roberts showed he really is class – give him the contract he wants, if we have genuine ambition.Last night was an improved effort, which was good to see though i’m not sure York were even in top gear and they were way better than us and everyone else. The squad cant cope with injuries/loss of form.
Defence Horton FL level has lost his form, Rose FL injured, the rest of the defence only just about NL level.
Midfield Ewing FL loss of form, Rowley NL loss of form, Westbrooke FL and the only one in form, Beeston FL just getting back into full flow needs a run of games, rest just about NL level on good days
Forwards Roberts FL and carrying us at present, Smith NL level needs game time, Whitehall just NL out of form, all the rest just about NL level or not seen enough of them, Carlton NLN.
Just need to put the same effort in, play at pace and get a centre half on loan to organise the chaosDepends which Scuny is selected and then do they turn up? The Boston/Aldershot one or the Forest Green/Rochdale one. We wont be keeping a clean sheet which ever one it is. Over 3.5 goals
And we can hear if AB has figured anything out yet or will be their budget, its all my fault not the players, only our squad are carrying knocks, we’re safe from relegation why worry about the play-offs, players are playing in sandals due to the pitch not because i have taken the motivation off, York had a better pitch to play on than we did blah blah
14 games to go and only 4 wins needed to get us in the playoffs – Wwhy assume we will win 4 more games? conceding for fun at the present.
“i don’t for one minute believe that professional footballers stop trying” well for some reason they are getting out run and out battled by teams. And AB is lost for a reason

3 Scuny boys no longer here – Dawson, Dec, Tyler (club not at fault) not helping.
Smith i will defend, he chose to sign. He scored at Carlisle and it should have been given. I’d put him for Ewing and give him a run to get sharp.1 user thanked author for this post.
As AB is talks about objective met and we are staying up, he clearly has no focus on the play-offs.
He said, if it was game 45 we’d be happy with 60 points. Which the players pick up on and then he wonders why they aren’t trying! We might have pick up enough home wins against teams out of form but at this stage i don’t see us hanging onto tip 7. AB needs to look ahead to next season and get the players playing who will be here then. If that means recalling players then so be it. They might be below the level of Ewing, but they will put a shift in. Most players at this level are similar ability. We have Ewing (initially) Roberts, Horton, Westbrook, Smith (if he gets a run) above this level. The rest just need to work hard and be well managed.1 user thanked author for this post.
Down to attitude – we are safe so objective met. AB just said if we had 60 points after 45 games we’d be happy. Yep at the start of the season we would have been, except its not after 45 games its 32!.
So lets get our sandals off put out boots back on and start working hard again, running fast and attacking at speed.
Fearful for Tuesday if the Horsham/Boston/Carlisle/Aldershot attitude turns ups1 user thanked author for this post.
i’d settle for us turning up and putting a shift in, a performance to build on. The level of our last 4 performances against Rochdale and York could will see us well beaten and worse still doubt ourselves for the rest of the season and 10 points could soon disappear
1 user thanked author for this post.
this was not a one off. Looked great against FGreen. Maybe we thought we were good and just turn up?
But since then, Horsham poor, Southend lucky if they could finish would have lost, Carlisle never won a tackle, Yesterday no real threat, huff and puff how many saves were forced? And defending was a joke, everyone was poor.1 user thanked author for this post.
Have to agree Rowley and Ewing not playing well, they have no pressure on them with players out on loan. Need Beestin in for Ewing, as good as he is, he will be away at the end of the season. As much as Roberts blamed him with his rant, and Butler agreed by taking him off, Smith needs a run of games to get sharpness and form. He cares and will be here next season.
Defence is a joke, Full Backs need to be JB and Horton, have the old men at CH and if they are past it, will need a loanee in. As someone said, we’ve been poor since Horsham, lucky v Southend, no tackles won at Carlisle.
Forget the next 3 games any points will be a bonus. Get it Sorted for Solihull onwards 3 out 4 at home and a chance to get form back1 user thanked author for this post.
they weren’t poor just not at their high standards. Last night we were out tackled by a strong midfield. i would rather have our skilful midfield.
1 user thanked author for this post.
Smith has to start Sat looked the sharpest and Ewing and Westbrooke just below their high standards, Roberts continues to shine.
With Boston coming to park the Hurst bus and and nick a goal we need the all quality on the pitch to get ahead or it will be a long afternoon.1 user thanked author for this post.
Hurst looks like he is getting use to the quality he is now playing with after Gateshead. Just needs to take a risk and it come off.
Never felt Mahardy had anything too difficult to deal with, decent saves, a couple of crosses. Interesting having seen the video of their pens not much contact to go down with on either. If it was against you would say a pen, i’m happy to say no pen. Their players didn’t surround the ref with rage, perhaps they knew too. And ref missed a clear shirt pull on Whitehall so evens it up. Truth is they weren’t good enough, ref gave them an excuse
2 users thanked author for this post.
perhaps the loss of ££££ losing to Horsham has forced our hand and no one wants the other strikers.
1-11 we are still good the tricky bit if teams park the bus we have nothing coming off the bench. Match day squad is weaker with no Howe -
