That was total and absolute rubbish no excuse for a performance like that.

2 more years after this season of AB, how he keeps playing Connor Smith, he is not up to it.
And Jones was far far better in the second half.
Farrell was too slow, did not offer anything.
Sutton deserved their victory, quicker than we were, more bite about them. wanted it more.
The ground almost half empty by the final whistle.
What about that Positivity Dave ?

I have no problem with Butler but he has to take the blame for that. The way he talked about Sutton i thought they were football gods. There were awful, hoof ball to speedy forwards. But Butler knew they would be too quick for our slow defence. So we ended up with the midfield not getting forward enough to support the front 3. Rather than impose ourselves we set up to stop them. And again it didn’t work.
A foul in the first 30 seconds and nothing given, they played the ref well who they dominated.
We are good when we get the ball down and pass and move at speed. Failed tonight.
Winger looked good at times. But as we all know we need a defence. Horton (not on great form) and Rose (next season) aside are all hopeless.

First game ive managed to get on the telly since back alarm set at 02-30 am .. and what a stinker it was…bloody awful not a single positive except the new lad Jones looks promising.

SUFC Worst team in the play off spots by a mile and not really sure retaining a PO place is worth happening just to get badly beaten by anyone in the mix.

Also signing more attacking options when the defense is shocking…Boyce is past it hoping for a siging and JB comes in.

Maybe some have eyes on a move or even have something already lined up but there must a reason for such a lazy half hearted display.

NO MORE EVENING KOs FOR ME

im guessing Positivity Daves internet must be down down ??? wondering how he can spin this one … or a name change to Delusional Dave perhaps.

oh ..Sutton did have a perfectly good goal chalked off and deserved the win imo.

About a week ago, I wrote that our passing had deteriorated by around 30% from our recent best.
    Wrong again!
    Make that 50%.
    Defence requires a rebuild!
Anyone know if, even once, we ever strung 6 or more passes together in the first half?

I missed the game thanks to work running late…which, in hindsight, might have been the universe doing me a favour. Unfortunately, I then made the fatal error of watching it on DAZN afterwards.

Calling it a tough watch would be generous. It was a grim, joyless spectacle, a performance completely devoid of quality, urgency, or anything resembling coherent football. The only flicker of life came from the new signing; everyone else looked like they’d rather be anywhere else.

The pitch might have been the only thing out there in worse condition than the team.

Some of the comments on Farrell are vexing to me, he looked good .He’s clearly got the ability we need.

‘everyone else looked like they’d rather be anywhere else.’

    That’s what I saw, in a nutshell.

Think there may have been one passage of play when they strung 5 passes together Les. Other than that, it’s a struggle.

Not sure how Butler can take the blame for that when you could see a gear change from the players after going 1 down. They actually woke up and started putting a shift in. If they’d shown that desire for more than 20mins they might have got something out the game. By the time they got their act together for almost every attack, Sutton had a solid block back.

Deffo the worst game of football entertainment wise all season at the AA IMO, it lacked any real quality apart from a good debut by Jones who looks a decent signing on first showing. Smith continues to disappoint but had a golden one on one chance to give us a first half lead but blew it. Defensively we are all over the place and their stoppage time winner once again showed up our season long failure of being unable to defend the back stick properly, an unmarked free header in the 94th minute is totally unacceptable and our defence particularly at centre back and right back needs a big rethink in the summer plus we need a new centre back in now before the season ends. Bloody rubbish Iron if I may use one of our contributors handles to describe last night’s performance.

Hardly a surprise about our struggles at the back. Boyce is passed it. Horton despite doing well on the whole is a left back covering at CB. Young kid from Sheff utd is ok at best and don’t get me started on Barrows.

Butler should have brought in a CB or two instead of flooding the squad with wide attackers. Absolutely ridiculous. Evans, Jb, Rose all injured and yet nothing has been done.

What does AB do ?…waste money on Hurst and Smith who have both been absolutely garbage. Shambolic recruitment.

‘Waste money on Smith’? His appointment was lauded by many as the second coming at best and a very decent signing at worst. What was your reaction to his appointment wondergoals?

Smith hasn’t become a bad player. Lacking form, fitness. confidence maybe all three but still a top signing IMO.

Hurst is here on loan and should probably return to Donny.

Squad looking unbalanced once again. How often have we said that?

I thought Smith was a decent signing based on what I’d seen of him before, and scunny probably bought him on the same take, I should’ve stuck to my normal stance no ex Scunny thank you very much and especially when it comes to the manager’s.

He excelled in Scottish League 1 and NLN not NL level. Some don’t make the step up, some do. Hopefully he will.

Why take such a chance on a player who’s been playing all season in Scotland as a CM player ?. We needed players to come in now and make an impact. Bare at the back, we literlally have a cobbled together defence.

We had a fantastic chance of rebuilding the squad once the fringe players went and it’s somehow worse now than it was before.

Not quite sure how butler and co allowed the defence to be stretched as it is after all the wide players we’ve signed.

We need a head of recruitment next season, or at the very least a head scout to take charge. Post january recruitment has been scatter gun at best.

Positivity Dave to start a new gofundme. Joking aside, it’s not fair on Butler to be shoehorning in recruitment with trying to coach and manage. No wonder he gets annoyed at the critics.

We’re supposed to be hard up for money and you want a head scout we’re Nl and nln last season, need to be getting rid of staff not adding more.
Part of Butler’s and Scofield’s job is to go out midweek to watch and recruit and no doubt they get extra expenses for it.
Poor old Butler having a team full of the players he wants and not having the luxury of hiding behind someone else’s recruitment, I feel sorry for him.

    That’s a great post Awaywego.
Butlers got the driving seat, which I wanted him to have, no doubt he wants the responsibility. Proof of the pudding will be at the season end.

Especially when you see one of the reasons for Barrow’s manager sacking after only 6 games.
Speaking out saying his fullbacks were a shambles who he inherited.

Get real Derry. Butlers job came with the responsibility of recruitment. He will be judged on that, and the performance/positioning of the team, based on that.

We know you love him, but take your head out of his &#@+ for a few minutes to give yourself a breather.

Yes I did. Quite often. However, nobody took any notice of me. So I’ve joined the club.
