Sutton are the sort of team we should thrash, but they are a banana skin waiting to be slipped upon. I know Butler won’t do it, but I’d like to see Whitehall and Farrell up front with Dausch on the left and Roberts wide right, with 4 at the back that would only leave room for two in midfield. I believe if we attacked from the off we could significantly improve our goal difference. That said, AB will hedge his bets and I’ll go for a squeaky bum 2-1!

March 10, 2026 at 12:14 pm #317272It’ll be interesting to see what the Sutton boss does after a home thrashing by a team below them.
Does he make loads of changes (if he has the players to do that) or continue to pick his “best” players and hope Saturday was a one off?
Who’d be a football manager eh!1 user thanked author for this post.

May I add to you comments Phil ?
We are our own banana skin because simplicity is ignored and over elaboration takes control.
On commentary from Yeovil our ‘Physio’ in the 1st half mentioned many times speed of passing and direction of said passes – too many going sidewards and taking pace out of the game.
11 games left and 11 wins should be the target and not blind optimism.

March 10, 2026 at 1:51 pm #317279“Sidewards and backwards everywhere we go, everywhere we go” let’s hope not play it fast and forward, should see it right.

March 10, 2026 at 2:16 pm #317280We must start Farrell with Whitehall, though i would happily drop Whitehall om order to play Dausch on the left wing with Roberts on the right.
It is surely time for a 5:0 or more, our last convincing win was Truro, last year.
Let us have a good lead before AB bingo subs start and we sit back as always.March 10, 2026 at 2:37 pm #317282Might be controversial but I’d start the same team. I rate Smith and can’t wait for him to hit the form we know he’s capable of. Farrell to relieve Danny when he’s had enough or when the game’s safe (6-0 with 10 minutes left)
March 10, 2026 at 2:43 pm #317283Yep I’m always up for benching our top goalscorer, especially if it’s to bring someone in who hasn’t scored a goal in 16 appearances this season.

March 10, 2026 at 4:01 pm #317285With Cass on this one. We know Smith is a quality footballer. Just lacking match sharpness and a bit of confidence. He won’t find those on the bench. If we can get him firing it would be great to have quality and a goal threat from both flanks during the run in.
Leave Danny to frustrate the centre backs for 70 minutes then bring the two youngsters on when their extra pace should make a difference. We might just start scoring late goals rather than conceding them.2 users thanked author for this post.
March 10, 2026 at 5:06 pm #317290With most of that plus I’m not keen on chopping and changing again. Been enough of that recently. Same starting 11 barring injuries and see how it goes. Change it early (i.e. half time) if it’s not working at all or 60mins if it’s not working that well.

March 10, 2026 at 7:40 pm #317310Scunthorpe 17/20
Draw 27/10
Sutton 5/2It should be a home win.
March 10, 2026 at 8:35 pm #317314Dausch on for Smith for second half. It’s not working for him again and got to be hitting the target from that chance. Wouldn’t be averse to Farrell on for Whitehall second half too. Risk again on a yellow.
March 10, 2026 at 8:35 pm #317315WRETCHED!
Play like this in the 2nd half and we’ll lose against one of the poorest sides we have seen!March 10, 2026 at 8:41 pm #317316That was a difficult watch, dire football (both sides) cannot be any worse second half. Feel for Smith because he’s playing like he’s won a competition to be on the pitch
March 10, 2026 at 8:50 pm #317320Jones on! Let’s see
March 10, 2026 at 8:55 pm #317321Utter poo!
March 10, 2026 at 8:56 pm #317322Yee hah.
March 10, 2026 at 9:42 pm #317323SHAMEFUL!!!!!
March 10, 2026 at 9:43 pm #317324Well that was an awful watch.
March 10, 2026 at 9:44 pm #317325That’s 19 points dropped 88+minutes, remarkable really
March 10, 2026 at 9:51 pm #317326Sorry I think it’s 17 not 19,

Absolutely terrible, “not us” (again) will. no doubt, be included in AB’s post match. Sadly it’s very much us lately.
WHEN WILL WE SORT OUT OUR PASSING!!!!!!!!1 user thanked author for this post.
March 10, 2026 at 9:55 pm #317328Barrows was awful. Boyce’s legs have gone. Evans won’t be match fit until end of this month. Jb better be taking Boyce’s place at CB. Smith looked terrible again out wide. Jones needs to start, but at the back is where the real problems lie.
Shocking again. Player unmarked running off the back of Boyce and Barrows who both must have been sleeping. Free header.
Jb looks better at RB than CB, but rather him at CB than Boyce. I don;t think we need Barrows next season either with Rose and Starbuck at the club, he’s another one who’s solid at NLN, but struggles at this level.

March 10, 2026 at 10:00 pm #3173301 win in 8. With 10 games left and form like this, will we even reach 70 points? Playoffs are in no way, shape or form nailed on!
March 10, 2026 at 10:02 pm #317331Butler gets a new contract and his side puts on a performance which was utter rubbish tonight
March 10, 2026 at 10:03 pm #317332Splashing cash on another winger is great but it’s clear the defence is the real problem. Starbuck poor pass for their first goal, Barrows and Boyce at fault for second. Horton played awful, Tahir not bad but you’re right Boyce’s legs have gone,
March 10, 2026 at 10:05 pm #317333On the plus side we’re mathematically safe from relegation!
March 10, 2026 at 10:09 pm #317334Horton has done relatively well at CB, but don’t forget that he’s really a LB. Soon as Evans is fit at the end of this month he needs to be put next to JB and Horton back out at LB.
March 10, 2026 at 10:16 pm #317335Only need to hit form at the right time way to early yet, so all’s not lost.
Can’t say to much this season I’ve hardly seen them but overall with Butler I’ve seen the worst football games I’ve ever seen from a Scunthorpe team during his tenure.
So just Halifax and Wealdstone away for me till the playoffs, Halifax just because it’s the lads day out and Wealdstone just cos it’s the last away game and being in London to boot.
