Afternoon Irons, now the League dust has settled it’s the two SUFCs going head to head. How are you all feeling? I have no idea what the outcome will be, but it will certainly be exciting with two teams going at it full on. Should be a good crowd as well.
April 26, 2026 at 1:29 pm #319842April 26, 2026 at 1:45 pm #319843In recent matches we have been poor but I always think we play well against better teams
April 26, 2026 at 1:48 pm #319844One team in form the other struggling to score and finding it hard not to give goals away. Heart – Scunny of course, the head can’t agree sadly. Hoping for a good game with nothing controversial and a surprise result.
April 26, 2026 at 2:12 pm #319845We all would have put money on you mangling Eastleigh. The fact that you didn’t makes our brain fart at Hartlepool even more painful. Had we won there, we would have been hosting you guys on Tuesday.

It was a poor end of season game with our best player rested and three others left on the bench. Four subs to start the second half and a fifth later on was all about resting the Tuesday starters but it led to a disjointed performance. Think Tuesday will be different may the best team win.

April 26, 2026 at 2:41 pm #319847April 26, 2026 at 3:27 pm #319850I’m pretty sure if we had needed to beat Eastleigh then we probably would have done.
There would not have been any “sympathy” appearances from players we have barely seen and probably won’t ever see again for a start. Your playing of your “reserves” against Hartlepool not only cost you any chance of a home game but also allowed us to rest key players.
I watched your game at the Monkey Hangers and it would seem like ourselves you have a decent 13 or 14 players but you’re scraping the barrel after that. York and Rochdale have the budgets for 20 or so decent players which is how you get 100 plus points I guess.
Been hoping for weeks that we arrive at the playoffs with most of our 14 fit and well and that seems to have happened. All the playoff games could go either way so bring it on.
Would be nice if one of the SUFC’s made it back to the EFL this season given the near terminal damage our respective toxic owners have subjected us to.

You are no doubt right on the Eastleigh front. It looks pretty much as if both teams have full squads available, although we have a doubt on Scott-Morriss. That being so there will be no excuses from either side due to missing players.
April 26, 2026 at 7:54 pm #319864Tbf, apart from scoring, you were probably the better team last time you visited us. Decent following and noise too.
April 26, 2026 at 8:12 pm #319867402 fans is Not a decent following from a team that averages over 8000 at home Deerey.
Sold over 800 to season ticket holders already for Tuesdays game though, now that’s more like it should be.
April 26, 2026 at 8:21 pm #319869So what do we reckon, north of 6000 Tuesday night 🤔

April 26, 2026 at 8:51 pm #319872Anything can happen in the lottery that is the play-offs. But a lack of Scunthorpe momentum coming into the game I’d suggest gives Sarfend the advantage. Being at home may swing it back the other way? Shame its not 2 legs with an away day, Totts 2000, go to see the lovely Michelle in Frinton then a pint with Nigel in Clacton on the way back.
April 26, 2026 at 9:00 pm #319873It would be national news if you tracked down Nigel in Clacton.

April 26, 2026 at 9:08 pm #319874The Eastleigh game was all about not picking up any injuries.
If Southend watching the game they will think they have only to turn up.

Southend had no choice as they were still chasing confirmation. If we are beaten comfortably then he got it wrong. A defeat then fine, 5 of these 6 teams are close based on the season. I would have liked to have seen more goals scored but its not my decision, it is ABs and judgement will follow Tues night

Thats never the case in football !You’ve beaten us twice this season, we’re not going to think all we have to do is turn up. Your game against Eastleigh, and ours against Wealdstone were purely about keeping players safe games. It’s looking like we will bring around 1000 supporters based on current sales.

402 might not qualify as a decent away following to you but from Southend, most reasonable folk would say it does, regardless of their average home attendance. And they were noisy. 800+ is very good, IMO.

My unofficial contact here at Scunny says we expecting you to sell out the away end.
And judging by our last few performances, I’m expecting you to get the win.🙁April 27, 2026 at 9:21 am #319883Play offs a lottery or not ..momentum is key.
im going for Scunny 1 Southend 1 @ 90 mins
Southend 2 Scunny 1 AET
Dont want pensAtt 6000 to 6300
April 27, 2026 at 9:36 am #319884Tricky thing about our team rootshallbloke is that if they all turn up on the night, they can be very very good. We’ve seen it.
Worrying thing for us is we haven’t seen it for a long time.3 users thanked author for this post.
April 27, 2026 at 10:23 am #319889According to our top man your top man wanted 25% of our capacity and boasted they would sell them ALL very quickly. Not going to happen though is it ?? UTWI
April 27, 2026 at 11:20 am #319890Current form for the Iron and performances may be a concern.
But what has added spice is Southend thinking they have already won and comments on the BBC after Saturday’s results.
Come on the Iron
April 27, 2026 at 11:30 am #319891Seriously? That’s miles different from what I’ve seen.
With the possible exception of a few X or Facebook infants, nobody connected with Southend is saying we’ve already won. Far from it. There is definitely a feeling of hopeful confidence among some, just based on the fact that we have been in our best form of the season so far.
Certainly nothing remotely worthy of adding any ‘spice’ – not even the eternally unused Chinese 5 Spice at the back of the cupboard.

We’ve got an allocation 0f 1678 for a game on a Tuesday night with tickets going on sale yesterday. As I said earlier, we will probably bring around 1000, but it’s a big ask for some people on a work day with such short notice. As for our Chairman allegedly asking for 25%, he’s a Colonial, nuff said?

April 27, 2026 at 11:55 am #319893If Butler sets up to match their 3-5-2 then we’re stuffed, they have the players for it and we don’t. Let them worry about our 4-3-3 instead and none of this 4-2-3-1 or a “box” MF in a 4-4-2 rubbish either. He could just get away with a 4-1-4-1 I suppose but the more times he switches during a game the more confused our players get.
