Opinion only:-
For a change, instead of setting up to match the opposition, Butler used (IMO) the best system for our players, played to their strengths and let Southend management worry about us and react. Something that, in their fans opinion, they failed to do.Has to be the way to go.2 users thanked author for this post.
April 29, 2026 at 4:01 pm #320046Got the impression Butler thought being made the underdogs by the bookies helped the players mentality
April 29, 2026 at 4:20 pm #320047According to Butler we’ve been intentionally only putting in 75% effort in since he decided we were going to make the playoffs.
I like that kind of arrogance, just wish he’d been vocal enough to tell us.
I had us in the playoffs once we got to 60 points after the Rochdale away game with 15 games to go wonder when Butler decided.1 user thanked author for this post.
April 29, 2026 at 4:35 pm #320048Bullshit, they’re not so talented as to do that.

Sure, that would have knocked a few thousand of the gates
April 29, 2026 at 5:12 pm #320053I thought we beat a good team last night,Southend fans are being unfair on their team. They certainly looked better at moving the ball quicker and more accurate than we can. Their lump up front did nothing and keeping him on helped us.The did open us up a few times quite easily .I think we were just a bit better, including Whitehall, best I’ve seen him play .
The ref made odd decisions, whistle happy and didn’t appear to understand about allowing play to continue,he stopped a few breaks from both sides. That corner call he initially called free kick was insanely bad given how close he was, maybe the large crowd unnerved him?April 29, 2026 at 6:31 pm #320062I thought they were okay. They reminded me of us in some games this year. Good build up play but nothing special in the final third, too many hoofs going nowhere, some sloppy passing and not getting the second ball.
April 29, 2026 at 6:39 pm #320066Multiple Rochdale tickets able to be bought per each ST.
Enough to go to GS?
April 29, 2026 at 6:40 pm #320068We wanted it more then them on the night and that was the difference IMO.
April 29, 2026 at 8:53 pm #320076If we can be at our best, I think we can go into playing Boreham Wood or Forest Green with some confidence. Neither look special.
April 29, 2026 at 9:53 pm #320077In fact, both teams are utterly dire.
April 30, 2026 at 2:49 pm #320143A Shrimper on X accusing us of ‘parking the bus’ on Tuesday. Get off the bus, don’t make no fuss mate!

You do sometimes wonder if some people actually have been watching the same game as you, it’s all about opinions though.
April 30, 2026 at 4:15 pm #320152Aye, baffling take on the game that one though. Bit more rearguard action in the second half but no bus was parked. Apart from those outside GP.
May 7, 2026 at 4:21 am #320506IFA back back from his road trip and as promised due to the Iron beating Southend my son and i visited the local kids home / girls home with a 100 quid donation .. was advised they preferred we buy and donate items such as dry foods, sports items and clothing rather than leave cash so thats what we did..IRONically included a couple of footballs amongst the noodles tins of sardines and T shirts.
