Afternoon Iron fans.
I don’t think any Southend fans are thinking it will be an easy match.
I think we will bring close to 1200 fans on the night. A great effort considering arrangements being made so close to the game.
Trains weren’t an option due to silly prices and the threat of being stranded if the game goes to extra time etc.
We managed to get a minibus at short notice, so have 16 of us on that heading up. Got a few other pals going up in a camper van.
Good luck to you and may the best team on the night win.
Any ideas where is best to go for food and beers pre match as we will likely arrive about 4pm.
Cheers

April 27, 2026 at 12:15 pm #319895IMO and the bookies we are the underdogs which is fine.
We must play 443 but i have a feeling AB will tinker about which i the past has made us look disjointed with players seemingly not sure wtf they need to be and lead to poor performances thus results
If Southend beat us on Tuesday i hope they go up big fan base who travel in numbers and nearly bit the dust a while back .. in fact anyone other than Carlisle and Savage FGR
Heres my list in order of who i want to join York
Scunny obviously

April 27, 2026 at 12:27 pm #3198961000+ on a Tuesday night will be an excellent turnout RHB, our board said you’d sell out in an hour.
They know f all about fans and as certainly showed down the years at our club. Why the pathetic 402 fans for the league game? Were there travel issues.
April 27, 2026 at 12:31 pm #319897Wetherspoons in town, car park directly behind it, no hassle even when we hosted Millwall in the playoffs.
Out the car park then one straight road down to the ground.
Evidently the food in the ground is good as well.April 27, 2026 at 12:32 pm #3198981000+ on a Tuesday night will be an excellent turnout RHB, our board said you’d sell out in an hour.

I think the lower than usual Shrimper turnout at the league fixture was probably just due to the fact that out of the previous 12 matches, 3 had been at Roots Hall and 9 had been away (the match at yours being the tenth!). Wallets were probably feeling the pinch, I think.

Truthfully, 400 travelling Shrimpers for a Saturday league game is hardly bad, when you consider that for the reverse fixture at Roots Hall you had 275 travellers there. This game has just a bit riding on it, so there will be more fans travelling.

If we do need to visit you again next season, I’ll see if we can rustle up a few more.

April 28, 2026 at 11:51 am #319956The tea leaves seem to show extra time and penalty shoot out. I’ll have another brew and see if it improves.
April 28, 2026 at 12:05 pm #319957Beers are in the fridge – lads are round for pre-match fish n chips on order – screen set up – lucky shirt washed (was that a mistake?)
Can see it being a tight game – don’t expect much open attacking play – too much riding on the result. Some one will nick it 1 – 0……hope it’s us! Not sure I’ll survive a penalty shoot out :) UTI.April 28, 2026 at 12:20 pm #319958The tea leaves seem to show extra time and penalty shoot out. I’ll have another brew and see if it improves.
