Although he’s often derided on here I’ve got no doubt that there will have already been interest in Butler from other clubs. Therefore it makes sense to start training up his replacement.
If you look at his league (not non league like half of our players) appearances and goals there is definitely a good player in Hurst. Personally I think he’s a good signing bearing in mind our lack of finances.

I just tried it again and now it doesn’t give the number of members, so they’ve removed that this morning I wonder why….

TJO nice to cut to the chase with your update.
Extra income from the pitch? Surely that’s gonna be peanuts in the grand scheme of things.
Nice that they are putting things on in the summer gala etc but doubt that will be bringing in much coppers to the pot.Should keep the low season ticket prices throughout the summer and not just till end of May.
So the 20% increase in player budget guess this will just add to the loan
I think they are hoping teams like Hull and Leeds might use it for their U21/reserve team matches but I might have misunderstood.
Just listened to the owner interview .
From George – Pitch was big project with new drainage, new sprinkler system . 10 year guarantee with hybrid surface. Hope to generate extra income from pitch. New groundsman taken on. Currently no chairperson of the community interest company that own the ground. We’ve still use of the car park for next 12 months.
Not generating enough money so still making a loss but success on the pitch will hopefully improve that.
From Michelle – Lee Collison brings financial experience. EFL loan still over £1 million. EFL want club to sign up to a wage cap but Michelle says they won’t be doing that. Playing budget increased from last season by about 20% which makes us mid table compared to rest of NL. Season ticket sales up from last season. Some kind of joint club open day combined with British Steel gala planned for this summer.
Fanzone coming sometime this year.
Sad that Roberts went but understandable.
Disappointed that Ewing went to club in same league, Michelle negotiated a sell on clause if he leaves FGR. Club won’t stand in any players way.
Possible ladies team of some sort. Academy is too expensive until we are in EFL.Any info from the Butler interview and Michelle’s please can’t receive it where I am.
Basically, don’t panic signings on the way. Paid a fee for a yet unnamed player. Want to improve on where we finished this season. Took the piss about Ewing going to FGR saying he’ll get squad number 117.
Wants some more experience, will try different formations in preseason, can’t use pitch as an excuse anymore.
Winger having a medical today. Sounds like Altrincham are interested in Howe but no deal done. AB thinks Brogan needs more experience and game time, hence he was released. Barrows, Jones, Campbell, Shipstone still to sign. AB and Muzzy rate both keepers. Kyle Hurst probably coming, has been offered a contract. We will be playing in the National League Cup.
That’s about it, I’ve not listened to the Michelle one yet.1 user thanked author for this post.
I can live with Ewing, Westbrooke, Roberts or in fact any of them going. Unfortunately it’s welcome to reality. We can’t compete with the big spenders in our own league and never will until someone with money to burn turns up and decides to burn it with us.
I’m glad the club aren’t breaking the bank on any of these characters and I don’t blame any of them for taking the money elsewhere.2 users thanked author for this post.
The EFL hoped that Boro would win the semi final and the problem would go away. Now the EFL hope that Hull will win the final and it will mostly go away.

The recently released statement by Phil Parsons, CE of Southampton. Entitled as fuck.
Entitled indeed. I actually started to feel some sympathy for Hull as Parsons statement reads like they were already promoted or at least would definitely beat Hull. Now I hear Hull are getting legal advice with a view to be given promotion without even playing the final !
They’ve cheated, got caught, hoped they’d get a paltry fine for admitting it but have been rightly hammered by the EFL. If they had any decency as a club they’d take their medicine and hide away but they’re still bleating about it and appealing.
Karma is a bitch and Harwood-Bellis’s binoculars taunt to Ayling has condemned him to be an internet meme forever. The facts were out there for Matlock to see before they voted for Hilton to take over. It is absolutely no surprise and they were warned.
I’ll start this by saying FC100000 was a massive error by the owners, Rochdale tickets were a fiasco, Butler should not have got into a shouting match with Bhuna’s dad and the club shouldn’t have banned him.
I’m not a Butler disciple, there are no end of things that I would have liked to have been done differently, but to get that close to a playoff final at Wembley with that squad is an achievement whichever way you cut it.
You can talk about the science of motivation, energy and momentum but we’re talking about getting 25 people with 25 personalities (who are all mainly worried about themselves, as we all are), most of whom are only here because they aren’t wanted anywhere else, to all pull in the same direction. Look at what happened with Ewing when he didn’t get the move he wanted for an example.
Butler never misses a chance to mention the budget (which is something I think he should have been quieter about ) but it is a fact we had a mid table, at best, budget. The owners do not have very deep pockets, half the players are NLN standard and that is the position for the foreseeable future. There is more chance of Butler getting an offer to go elsewhere than anything else.
In which case, I know many of you won’t agree, but I will be hoping he stays and he can be as stubborn, prickly and make decisions I don’t like as much as he wants. If Rose resumes his previous form then that is RB sorted. I’d keep Barrows as he can also play CB. If Belehouan is out of contract I’d release him.
I think Westbrooke will get other offers so hopefully we can sign him. There’s got to be a decent CB available somewhere.
Ewing and Roberts will be hard to replace but they aren’t world beaters, we’ve known the likelihood of them going so hopefully AB already has some ideas. We ran out of steam a few weeks ago when Farrell went back to Barnsley. Did well to get past Southend but Rochdale didn’t have to do anything special today, 2 goals gifted to them on a plate.

They’ll just keep quiet and hope it all gets forgotten like everything else has.
They haven’t even said “sorry Rochdale have had one over on us we shouldn’t have trusted them” .Like I said in my earlier post, round 1 to Rochdale.
OWS said tickets available after 6.00 pm on Fanbase. Tried at 6.45 pm, all seats greyed out. Very disappointed.
Strange, I got one an hour later. Didn’t get 6 but still could have there were several dotted around.
Round 1 in the playoff semifinal to Rochdale then.
Iron website says “ Rochdale have set it to a maximum of six tickets per account holder.” Easy way of knocking the noise level down from us on Sunday, Season ticket holder brings 5 mates, family, kids etc for a day out and the allocation is sold out.
Played us like a cheap fiddle with that one.Ref was horrendous for both sides, particularly second half. Female assistant bailed him out a couple of times, notably when he was going to give Southend a goal kick for an obvious corner.
Sour grapes if they’re moaning about Whitehall and the ref.1 user thanked author for this post.
Tricky thing about our team rootshallbloke is that if they all turn up on the night, they can be very very good. We’ve seen it.
Worrying thing for us is we haven’t seen it for a long time.3 users thanked author for this post.
Lap of appreciation summed it up with Roberts half a lap ahead.
Personally I’d like to see us play full strength and get a decent win but I can’t see it happening.
I think he’ll start Mahady in goal – won’t want Jones to drop a pre eliminator clanger.
Defence – Scales, Boyce, Horton, Barrows
Midfield – Denton, Brogan, Beestin
Forwards – Dausch, Howe, SmithSubs – L Jones, Evans, Rowley, Ewing, P Jones, Belehouan, Beck
I’m assuming Beck and Brogan are back ? AB said everyone being recalled.
Southend are in amazing form though, be nice if Hartlepool aren’t on the same beach as Halifax but I can’t see them beating Southend.
I would say I’ve been a consistent supporter of Andy Butler football wise on this site so I don’t think there’s an anti-AB pile on. In fact I quite enjoyed that Hartlepool game.
If he’s so thin skinned that someone shouting in the stands has got into his head enough for him to identify who it is and want them removed from the ground then it’s a poor situation.
What are they going to do if hundreds start to boo or chant something against Butler one day when things aren’t going so well ?
Bhuna’s dad shouldn’t be telling stewards to “F off” but surely, as others have said, it didn’t need to escalate into a ban. I would suggest someone from the club above Butler could have gone to speak with them and negotiate an apology and truce.
Also I think awaywego is right you can’t put any meaning on it being a lady steward whilst not want the shouting person to be referred to as an oap or elderly. If it was a male steward there’s no difference.1 user thanked author for this post.
There is Butler’s side, but he is the professional in this scenario and I don’t think he can have his cake and eat it.
When there are fans referring to others on publicly viewable social media as parasites and another making bad taste cancer comments and still being lauded by the club then in my opinion they are on thin ice too.3 users thanked author for this post.
In that case, pathetic – from Butler.

What are you expecting to see ? It’s a game in the National League, they were 3 days after a 7-0 whipping and we were basically as good as in the playoffs.
Roberts had an off day but he never stopped attempting to attack a team with virtually every player back in the box. Kouogan had an excellent game in their defence and their other centre half ran himself into the ground. Pat Jones looks good, so does JB, Howe almost scored with his first touch, keeper Jones looked confident, enjoy the ride.* for the information of anyone reading this I fully respect 64’s opinion but disagree on this occasion * (I also fully understand 64 probably won’t respect my opinion but I can cope with that without crying.)

As someone who doesn’t use FB or X, it does seem wierd. Obviously I get to see what’s on here and screenshots etc. I don’t get what the problem is . I don’t watch or listen to Iron Hour due to their associations and behaviour with Hilton, I don’t follow Unity and Maw because of the stuff he posted (parasites etc).
If PD or facebook groups or unity groups don’t like what is on here, don’t look – it’s easy !1 user thanked author for this post.
Maybe I’m turning into a clapper but I enjoyed that game today. Pat Jones is some player. We did absolutely everything but score.
They nearly mugged us at the end with that shot off the bar, and Evans volleyed a back pass at Jones for some insane reason ! -
