On the bench for The Cods this evening
Best wishes to Kevin and his family.
4 points off top spot now.
It was free entry for home and away fans v Lincoln Utd which would have helped the attendance.

I just enjoyed the away victory against a decent side who were putting the pressure on.
Butler is in the seat so he decides, if he’s riding a lucky wave then long may it continue.4 users thanked author for this post.
Have I missed something ? Sorry, was in Hartlepool yesterday watching Scunthorpe United beat Hartlepool United.
Mahady isn’t the answer. Clearly got lots of potential but he’s learning on the job with us.
Watson would have been hammered for 2 of the goals today and the goals conceded at Solihull and the mix up with Starbuck against Braintree.
The fact is Watson never conceded more than one goal in a league game for us this season.2 users thanked author for this post.
Worse.
Let’s see who’ll be in for Rory’s services next him having done sooooo well.
Surely he saw we didn’t miss him when we won 3-0 at their place.
Personally I appreciate their manager for doing it.3-1 at their place, so the same 1 goal conceded without Watson as with him.

The fact is that Butler, under the constraints of his budget, put a squad together to do as well as possible in this league. He prioritised outfield players over paying for an “experienced “ keeper as he had Campbell who is a young lad he believes has some potential and could be a given a chance and be backed up by a slightly more experienced loan keeper – who turned out to be Watson.
The vast majority of supporters could see this and got behind the manager and supported the keepers that put the club shirt on and made the odd mistake (like Mahady will do).
Butler has got a responsibility to support and develop his players, particularly the younger ones still gaining experience and he’s had do that against a background of criticism and whining about the keeper.
I have been shown on X that Matt Ellis posted something on the @SUFC page along the lines of “get Watson out of the club”, this is a podcast presenter and Iron Trust board member ffs !
Butlers original decision over keepers has been proven – we are second.
Circumstances have now provided another young keeper in Mahady. From what I’ve seen his main attribute over the other 2 is confidence but he hasn’t had his clangers in front of 5,000 people yet, maybe he won’t, maybe he’ll make a mistake and just brush it aside and carry on just as well and will go on to bigger and better things. Then we’ll have the advantage of having had him in our team, but I’ll support him whilst he wears our club shirt the same as I did Watson, Campbell and Johnson against Middlesbrough .That should keep some dummies and toys in a few prams.

I think he might be talking about Mr Ellis and his follower
I agree awaywego, don’t give if you can’t take.
Unfortunately what Savage doesn’t realise is you can’t have “banter” with morons they will just take it to a vile level which in their pea brains equals a win.
The days of being a pantomime villain which he thinks he can still do are over.2 users thanked author for this post.
Have you seen the Boston goal ?
Long throw straight to their man who can’t be offside from a throw. Evans gets a foot on an attempt to pass to John-Lewis and gives it straight back to their player who blasts it at goal, Watson gets a hand on but it rebounds straight to John-Lewis who taps it in.
Yes, in ideal world Watson parries it away to the side but I think he did well to make the initial save at all. Evans and JB and Horton didn’t deal properly with any of it from the throw onwards. Very harsh to pin that on Watson.2 users thanked author for this post.
What a load of nonsense.
I don’t know what Campbells injury is but he came out and took part in some of the warm up with Watson and Johnson a couple of weeks ago. He seemed to me under orders – didn’t do any kicking .
He’s lost his place to Watson for sure. Same thing happened to Boyce towards the end of last season, Butler seems pretty fair in that respect.1 user thanked author for this post.
Good news, Ty Sellars-Fleming loan has been extended for 3 more months.

Not every club get 600 standing they have a moveable segregation barrier and have apologised for the inconvenience to their supporters.
Obviously not interested in the extra money at their own supporters expense, that’s fair enough but scunny should reciprocate only allowing 650 of their fans when we play them at home especially when they’ll be at least 1500 spaces will go begging, not like it’s a real problem to give us all the stand.I get the sentiment but I’d take their money, it will hurt more. Give them the whole 1500.

I’m not on X and it doesn’t let you view things very easily without an account. But if the last 2 IronBru podcasts are anything to go by, Matt Ellis has really got the knife out for Watson.
I posted this on the podcast comments for the previous episode :Horrible comments about our keepers from Matt Ellis.
A goalkeeper from a premier league team turns out to look better than our lads – what a surprise ! Without doubt if Watson or Campbell had conceded the goal at York you’d be losing your mind about it.
Describing one of our keepers as “shit”, “dog and duck” level is beyond disrespectful you should be ashamed of yourself. He’s come out with more after the Carlisle game, absolutely pathetic. Boyce gets sent off, Evans should have been, no Rowley, horrendous weather, crap pitch and three quarters of the podcast is about how the goalkeepers aren’t good enough !

And it’s back again, maybe it’s just me and my technology
Having just listened to the latest Bru podcast, it’s disappointing and disrespectful from Matt Ellis to suggest Campbell is nowhere near good enough for this level or NLN and should be loaned out to the Dog & Duck. Suggesting the Directors show some class by staying off the pitch at York immediately after the classless Dog & Duck remark is galling.
That particular podcast episode Eyebrows has been taken down this evening, literally whilst I was listening to it. I clicked in the box to leave a reply and it posted into the previous episode as that one had gone.
I just checked the league table to make sure it hadn’t been published upside down.
We’ve only conceded 10 league goals and one of them was by Mahady against York.Unfortunately I think you’ll find Watson has been and still is a professional keeper and so is Campbell, insane how people will criticise a young 5th tier keeper for not being 100% in every single situation, we all know some things could be better but that goes for every single player. It’s actually embarrassing to read some of the comments.

We definitely missed Rowley.

Ref was a joke. Excellent effort from the players.

Boycey air kicks one of the multiballs in front of the York fans after Beestin scores.
Brilliant !Classic sucker punch from us. They pulled one back and were pushing for an equaliser and we broke away and got the third. Pace, confidence and quality from Sellars-Fleming.
Absolutely fantastic match to be at, the atmosphere from The Iron fans was amazing.
Every player gave their all but I have to say Beestin is on fire, what a game he had.1 user thanked author for this post.
Excellent signing (in my opinion ).
RIP.
The fact is we have been awarded the the 3 points. Yes it’s crap for Beestin and Whitehall, who both scored cracking goals, but equally Wealdstone were still well in with a chance of equalising and who knows what could have happened then. Take the 3 points and move on, as I said at the time it was embarrassing and I’d be ashamed to be a Wealdstone fan after that, utterly pathetic by their players.

They did take a long time, but that is the professional decision of the medical staff and paramedics to deal with it there on the ground and I think that’s fair enough.
Regarding what happened with the Wealdstone players, this could become a huge mistake by them. Unless I’ve misunderstood Butler, I’m sure he said their manager wanted them to come out but they refused ? Assuming the NL do the right thing and award us the win, how does that leave their relationship with the club and the manager – they could have just ruined their whole season.
