Rumours from York City fans forum and X. That potentially leaves us with Campbell and Johnson as a team challenging for a league title in 2nd place !
I think it’s fair to say if he has been recalled we need to be bringing somebody in.
October 31, 2025 at 6:58 am #312639The other Rory is back for tomorrow

Another months loan?
Better if it was a season long loan.October 31, 2025 at 8:18 am #312641That should keep some dummies and toys in a few prams.

October 31, 2025 at 10:49 am #312642Never thought I’d be saying this but that’s actually a little disappointing if true. Yes he’s made the odd clanger but overall he’s been decent enough since coming into the team and a definite upgrade on Campbell.
Mahady looked ok against York so hopefully we have him for more than just the one game this time.

October 31, 2025 at 11:04 am #312643Fantastic news for all involved. It saves Butler’s blushes and gets us shut of Dracula.
Onwards and upwards.
October 31, 2025 at 11:06 am #312644Hopefully Mchardy can live up to the hype following the York game, do feel we’re asking a lot from a young lad.
Agree with the sentiment above, by no means is Rory the finished article but I actually don’t think he had a bad run of game here- certainly nowhere near as poor as some made out in a desperate attempt to be proven right.

October 31, 2025 at 11:36 am #312645I think Watson will be very disappointed. For the first time in his his career he has been looking like a number one choice and he gets taken back probably to bench warm at a club that didn’t want him as their third choice 3 months ago.
October 31, 2025 at 11:56 am #312646Watson looked better than what York had against us . All the best you went out on a high saved us at least two points against Aldershot great save
October 31, 2025 at 12:12 pm #312647Disappointing news. Hope he enjoys his return to York where, if he gets starts, I’ve no doubt he won’t be so harshly blamed for them not looking like world beaters.
October 31, 2025 at 12:39 pm #312648certainly nowhere near as poor as some made out in a desperate attempt to be proven right.
No question he’s had good moments and there’s never been any question as to his shot stopping. No getting away from the two blunders against Forest Green and Boston cost us 4 points. All game vs Carlisle he looked a nervous wreck when coming to collect every high ball.
kicking has been more than a bit dodgy too. As I said above though he has had good moments. The save the other day was outstanding.
Was Watson ever good enough for a team 2nd in the league who are seemingly challenging for a title ?
I was never convinced, but many other fans were. That’s football for you.
October 31, 2025 at 1:16 pm #312649I’m not sure if he was good enough for a title challenge, but the way he was spoken about by detractors was as if he wasn’t good enough for Sunday League.
October 31, 2025 at 5:39 pm #312652Yes comments from people that only played in Sunday league or assistant managed at same level

Have you seen the league table?1 user thanked author for this post.
October 31, 2025 at 8:47 pm #312655I think he did, he just mentioned we’re 2nd in the table doh.

October 31, 2025 at 11:10 pm #312657Meanwhile on Twiitersphere, Dan the Scunnylad with some mystifying thoughts only he knows the true relevance of.
‘Feel for the lad – York, Blackpool & Rochdale away. He’s on a bit of a hiding to nothing and the happy clappers will be out in force if we get spanked.’

I guess he missed who was in goal to get us there

Or maybe he remembers who stopped us from reaching the summit??
November 1, 2025 at 4:23 pm #312678Watson not even on the bench today for York. Recalled to be third choice keeper once again.
November 1, 2025 at 5:11 pm #312682Sounded that the current Rory had a decent game.
BTW – I’m still trying to work out what is happening with Campbell?November 1, 2025 at 5:39 pm #312686I’m sure someone will be along shortly to put you in the picture.
November 1, 2025 at 5:49 pm #312688The between the lines reader, probably.
November 1, 2025 at 6:24 pm #312691Watson not even on the bench today for York. Recalled to be third choice keeper once again.
Presumably Cup-tied today as he played against King’s Lynn.
Makes you wonder why they’d recall him the day before a game he couldn’t play in though…
November 1, 2025 at 6:59 pm #312692New rule of late says otherwise, rule 95.

November 1, 2025 at 7:24 pm #312693Rory indeed had a decent game.
Pretty much all of the team did. Denton had some unusually dodgy moments and Whitehall doesn’t have the pace or the guile to get much change out of centre backs at this level but the rest competed well.
Blackpool insisted on trying to play through the press when they plainly are not good enough to do so. They end up fannying about before giving in and booting it long 95% of the time. We nearly capitalised on that 4 or 5 times.
Ewing the best midfielder on show and Beestin not far behind.
That performance on Tuesday may well be worth 3 points.
November 1, 2025 at 8:21 pm #312695Why do we always take main players off in substitutions

Rule changed this season…play in the qualifying rounds for one team and you’re free to play in the first round proper for another.
November 1, 2025 at 8:50 pm #312697Well if it is a new rule Rory wasn’t playing or on the bench
November 1, 2025 at 9:02 pm #312698Yep, already pointed that out. And there’s no ifs, it is a new rule. As Awaywego mentioned, FA Cup rule 95 now states:
“A Player shall only play for one Club in the Competition during the same Season, save that a Player that has played for one Club in the Qualifying Competition and/or the Competition Proper may play for a maximum of one other Club in the Competition Proper (but may only play for a maximum of one Club in any given round of the Competition).”

November 1, 2025 at 9:08 pm #312699So they did it out of spite because we’re much more of a threat to their aspirations then they expected.
Shows a real lack of class. Feel for Rory. Probably the best moment of his career snatched away from him.
