Yeah, don’t get the downer on Barrows.

Very good point. Which says a lot about the squad make up.
August 19, 2026 at 2:27 pm #324953Definitely crunch time for Whitehall just like it was for Paddy Madden.
The key thing is to always let your goalscorers go without replacing them with another proven goalscorer worked well for us we got relegated the following season. But he wanted to go says the fans (without any proof of course) his hearts not in it anymore, he’s past his sell by date and of course undoubtedly shit to go with it.
Not like the Woottons and Goddens of this world who went on to score many once left, fans decry that.
Our manager saw it last year with Dec ya don’t want players who can score goals proven at every level let him go as well.1 user thanked author for this post.

Not got a big downer on Barrows myself though I know some have. Just others I would start ahead of him.

He’s a solid squad player who gives 100% when called on. He’s also great to have around the place, a nice character – and I could actually see a time when he has a formal role as part of the coaching set-up. He runs a coaching school in Sheffield and didn’t he take quite a few sessions when Schofield was off with his poorly knee?

I agree it is crunch time for Whitehall.
It was clear at the time that Wooton and Godden were good young players, but the expectation from us was too high. They both dropped down to the Conference (our level now !) got game time, did well, improved and went back up to have good careers.
I’d say Cam Wilson was similar, clearly a skilful player but we never got the best out of him, dropped a couple of leagues and scored 26 goals for Matlock last season, I think well see him back eventually in the National League.
Whitehall is the other end of the age spectrum, he is what he is, the only way is down.August 19, 2026 at 5:01 pm #324970I haven’t been on here for a long time but what is the issue with JB selection ? – he is miles more of a footballer than any of the options at CB and has pace and distribution. Ok he didn’t look great in the play off final but who did and I would argue in our best away performance of the season at Boreham Wood last year he was outstanding but still AB isn’t convinced ? – why ?

AB is the boss.
He knows.
And he knows that he knows. He’s never wrong.
Don’t question him, you’ll be told to **** off.1 user thanked author for this post.

I tend to agree re JB would ike to see him in at CD .. he is quick and got a massive on field presence amongst other things.
Evans and C Howe are to pace what i am to baking a Victoria sponge cake .. they are so slow and Howe still looks rather portly from the close season.August 20, 2026 at 9:23 am #325003“Massive on field presence”.
Is that a euphemism?

August 20, 2026 at 12:14 pm #325029To paraphrase Coleman. JB opens his legs and shows his class.
August 20, 2026 at 1:16 pm #325032Or in Whitehalls case, doesn’t get fouled but still ends up on his a***. Yeah I know it’s totally different but it makes me chuckle thinking of how he plays most of the time.
