I think I have made a mistake buying a season ticket after having one for 40 years.Does anyone have any idea how the season will pan out.Is promotion a possibility?
July 24, 2026 at 4:13 pm #323418Not a prediction, but anything less than the playoffs wouldn’t be good enough.

It’s a possibility, but I wouldn’t put any money on it……..
July 24, 2026 at 6:12 pm #323422One of my good friends on Twitter, Fiddlers Elbow seems to think we’ll do ok and he seems pretty clued up.
Personally, I think we sneak into the playoffs with some ups and downs along with way, make it to the final and lose (but I’m somewhat of an optimist).
July 24, 2026 at 6:28 pm #323425AB may well be under pressure at some point .. but golden balls will survive by hook or by crook.
The squad MAY BE bigger with cover for most positions but just how good will the newbies be and more so what system Butler decide to play with what he has to choose from.Pleased Jacob Butters is back and the Howe and Brennan signings look decent.
An interesting season is nearly upon us.
PREDICTION
Flirt with both the lower playoff places and the relegation zone in the same season .. finishing 14th to 18th.July 25, 2026 at 11:58 am #323435All depends on the mood of the selector.

Was he based out of the White Hart in Brigg, and a member of the BI Iron? Strange chap.
July 25, 2026 at 12:36 pm #323437Judging by 5-at-the-back having made an appearance once again, I think we’ll struggle.
Might avoid the drop by the proverbial skin of.July 25, 2026 at 5:24 pm #323462Atta-boy Alky!

July 25, 2026 at 5:58 pm #323465I predict some calling for AB’s head inside the first five games of the new season , well they are that predictable TBF.
July 25, 2026 at 6:11 pm #323467Atta-boy Alky!
I aim to please.

What is ‘the BI Iron’?
July 25, 2026 at 6:34 pm #323470Having had a season ticket for 40 years you have had six promotions in that time (and six relegations for that matter). Is your enthusiasm starting to wain after suffering 34 years of disappointment?
Anyway, for what it’s worth I think they will finish in the top half, maybe even in the playoffs again.July 25, 2026 at 7:13 pm #323475Another flirt with the playoffs would be a successful season in my eyes. We just don’t have the finances to power our way to that top spot.

July 25, 2026 at 8:11 pm #323479Your season ticket will give you the same value it usually does. We’ll win some and lose some.I expect to compete and Butler to deliver. Honeymoon over
July 25, 2026 at 9:01 pm #323480Weaker squad.
8th to 12th.July 25, 2026 at 11:23 pm #323486Champions.

July 25, 2026 at 11:50 pm #323490I think we will be competitive without troubling the top end.
A competent striker would be useful so will have to see if “Duvet” delivers this time round.
July 26, 2026 at 10:38 am #323493By the end of September we’ll have played Carlisle, Southend, Harrogate, Barrow and Hartlepool amongst our opening ten games.
That will be a definite yardstick.
15 to 20 points and I’d say we’re in for a similar season to last year. Less than 15 may indicate mid table mediocrity. Less than 10 and the knives will be out.
Certainly can’t afford to drop back down into NLN.

July 26, 2026 at 10:53 am #323494Weaker squad.
8th to 12th.Can’t agree Rene. First XI was always going to be weaker without Roberts, irreplaceable at our level. I believe the squad is stronger and will enable like for like subs without weakening the team significantly. My concern is the line up(s) he will use, especially changes during a match which normally confuse the players. (Once again 3CBs when you have no WBs can never work)

July 26, 2026 at 12:16 pm #323496More fans will go and watch a winning team NI, whatever league we’re in.
EFL or bust for me.July 26, 2026 at 1:17 pm #323501Champions.

I predict that we’ll be ok, Alcy,Awaywe etc will jump on anything that they can blame Butler for and gloss over any successes. In a couple of years history suggests we’ll have a poor season and they’ll say”told you so” it is what they live for.July 27, 2026 at 9:54 am #323523Would that it were so.
When you’ve supported this club for as long as I have, you’ll realize that disappointment is the name of the game.
From selling promising players on the relatively cheap, as soon as the first offer comes in, to failing to sign a decent player or two when we could. Jamie Vardy, anyone?
And as for having a poor season, we are on non-league. And we have been lower.
Every week we play non-league sides and watch non-league standard officials make the same mistakes over and over.
Even our manager is the same… makes the same mistakes, refuses, or can’t seem, to learn.July 27, 2026 at 10:03 am #323524Would that it were so.

Yet we keep going because it’s our team.
When I started supporting I had no idea of the name of the manager or directors.
But I do know we’ve had some poor ones… of both.July 27, 2026 at 10:10 am #323525The same as the majority of teams alcy, you always make out we are a special case but we are not. All teams are special to their fans and our fans are no different and we all operate in a similar way, some are run better and it’s usually down to money, we are what we are and it’s the hope that kills you but stop making out we are run radically different to other teams because we aren’t.

July 27, 2026 at 1:46 pm #323538Where have I said that IA?
We have certainly suffered from some directors who thought it was okay to lend the club £10k, get free hospitality while they serve, then take the £10k back and move on.
What, precisely, have they done for the club? -
