Probably about time to be thinking about it. (As if we haven’t)
Obviously sorted out how to get to Wembley, same as many thousand other Scunny and Rochdale. Tis great to dream but for one of us it will become a reality, even then it’s not done by any means. Not bothered how we win just win simple enough don’t you think.
Interesting piece on Rochdale OWP on their Sunday games Won 12 lost 18 and drew the rest.
Anyone got the stats for us?
May 2, 2026 at 8:37 pm #3202452-1 Scunny after extra time

Rochdale calling.May 3, 2026 at 11:35 am #320255A timely distraction maybe?
” Barnsley plot move for Rochdale manager to replace Conor Hourihane “
May 3, 2026 at 2:13 pm #320258You would hope Boyce and Rose are absolutely fit to be drafted into the squad at the expense of Smith and Brogan, it’s a massive game today.
May 3, 2026 at 2:35 pm #320259Two defenders for two midfielders, one an attacking mid?
Butler true to formMay 3, 2026 at 2:52 pm #320260May 3, 2026 at 5:04 pm #320277Sigh!
May 3, 2026 at 5:07 pm #320279Played like they had a worse hangover than me.
May 3, 2026 at 5:10 pm #320282If we are to be honest, and we should be, if Rochdale don’t get promoted, it will be a travesty.
May 3, 2026 at 5:12 pm #320283I was expecting a cracking end to end game but you cannot expect to turn up for the last 10 minutes and think you can win a game I’m afraid we looked very poor today a game to far, promotion next season? UTI

My money will be on missing out again.

Because we’ve got Butler. You mean the guy who got us promoted last season and really should not have got us into the top 5 this season on the budget and the predictions? Oh ok.
May 3, 2026 at 5:36 pm #320289Back to back promotions would have been incredible, but if we had to miss out I’d rather it was today than against Boreham Bloody Wood at Wembley.
BTW been swapping commiserations with my Carlisle supporting chums. Facile dribble was how their performance was described. Hughes not popular by all accounts.
May 3, 2026 at 5:40 pm #320291I caught the last 10 mins and extra time. They were down to 10 men and looked beat already.

Promotion? Not convinced unless there’s serious investment from somewhere. How we replacing Roberts? Not sure we can tbh.
May 3, 2026 at 6:16 pm #320297Nobody as good as Roberts will want to play NL. Jack Nolan would be my choice.

Just messaged a Carlisle mate myself apparently Hughes is off
May 3, 2026 at 7:04 pm #320299On his holidays don’t blame him
May 3, 2026 at 7:24 pm #320300Not a great watch at all. Defensively we were awful.
Midfield didn’t really take any control and we just continually wanted it lumped forward.Didn’t think Rochdale looked that great neither, just we were mediocre at best.

May 3, 2026 at 7:46 pm #320301Just thought it was a game to far us today and we didn’t get out of the blocks at all. We never got hold of there fullbacks who were left with so much space which lead to both goals. It’s such a shame because we just started to get going in the last 10mins but it was to little to late and even if we somehow had managed an equaliser you know that linesman would have had his flag up.

Yeah, the guy who cost us the championship last season through arrogance, stubbornness and naivety.
And the same guy whose stubbornness with refusing to accept we NEEDED a goalie, has cost us many points this season.
That guy?
Oh, ok3 users thanked author for this post.

Oh, okAlways try to add a little objectivity to a discussion, never goes well after a defeat and of course people respond with opinions as is their prerogative but are completely unprovable, the board will keep AB because his record over two seasons and with his budgets available has been very productive. All about opinions however, have a nice close season everyone and enjoy the World Cup.
May 3, 2026 at 9:05 pm #320306Would Butler have done better this season with a budget comparable to York and Dale? I think so. I’d wager fans of those two clubs have criticised their managers over the season. But they had a better player budget and their superior quality trumped every other team in the end.
