No complaints today the better side won on the day, obviously wasn’t on it like Tuesday but they were far better in all positions.
Just never let us settle especially after scoring so quickly their back 2 and the goalie so comfortable and just gave us the run around.
One seeing Roberts crying I would imagine that’s him on his way.1 user thanked author for this post.
May 3, 2026 at 9:36 pm #320311Do you think it might have been different if Whitehall hadn’t gone off injured awaywego? We looked shell shocked after the early goal but after Whitehall went off we looked bereft.
May 3, 2026 at 10:03 pm #320312Nagh not really, they were less comfortable at the back once Howe came on, just could have done with him once we scored though. For once he would have been more effective as a sub.
But I’d have called Butler for that.
Like I say no complaints they made us look ordinary and we just didn’t have the answer to change it.May 3, 2026 at 10:04 pm #320313Smith not even in the squad today !!
May 3, 2026 at 10:22 pm #320315Would Butler have done better this season with a budget comparable to York and Dale? I think so. I’d wager fans of those two clubs have criticised their managers over the season. But they had a better player budget and their superior quality trumped every other team in the end.
You still need a good manager to ensure that the budget is used wisely and to play the right players with the best tactics.
Having a big budget doesn’t always work – as we know!!
May 3, 2026 at 10:29 pm #320316We ran out of steam a few weeks ago when Farrell went back to Barnsley. Did well to get past Southend but Rochdale didn’t have to do anything special today, 2 goals gifted to them on a plate.

May 4, 2026 at 12:51 am #320319Weighing in with so many goals this last two seasons Roberts will be missed in that aspect. But for me seeing him lately bar the goals he hasn’t done enough to help the team out.
Maybe because he’s injured but rarely tracks back and helps out/gets stuck in.Hopefully we can find someone else to score because we really struggle to create too much.
I didn’t think Rochdale were that great. Didn’t need to be tbh.
Defensively we are so slow, every time they broke down the left side we were wide open. Someone tracking back would have helped !We’d have snapped someone’s hand off if they offered us semi final play off place at the start of the season.
For me today showed not how great the opposition were but how poor we looked. This constant lumping it forward even after DW went off showed this. The ball needing bringing down and played on the floor and strengths on what we had on offer.Early goal killed the atmosphere for us.
Think it’s going to be a very difficult to match this season next season.
AB has some work to do in the summer. He will be really judged next season in which could be more difficult.1 user thanked author for this post.
May 4, 2026 at 2:57 am #320321Not so sure roaming bull. We’ve done as well as we’ve done with a catalogue of questionable GK’s between the sticks with a LB playing at CB for a bulk of the season. Boyce as backl up despite him at times looking like he was wading through thick treacle.
If we get a good replacement for Roberts and Westbrook on a perm contract with a good dependable GK and a proper CB next to Evans, we should do pretty well.
I don’t think the league will be as strong next season.
Beestin, Westbrook and Rowley in CM doesn’t seem bad to me. We need another striker to put real pressure on Whitehall. It’s the defence which really needs strengthening. Rose and Jb for RB slot. Horton and Denton for LB. If we get a few good solid CB’s in and a good Gk who could actually be classed as a proper, dependable no 1, we’ll be fine.
Do we need Barrows, Rose and Jb for RB position ?

May 4, 2026 at 7:08 am #320325Denton does not look as good as last season. Dunno why not – he surely has the talent for the NL.
May 4, 2026 at 7:43 am #320329Not really convinced with denton, he has patches in games when he looks really assured but for the most part he lacks quality when it comes to making the final pass/cross, even at this level.
Horton started well at Lb, but then picked up that injury and when he came back looked a bit dodgy. Still think he looks a bit more measured than Denton. If Rose is fit, I’d defnitely choose him ahead of Jb, who looked absolutely shocking.
May 4, 2026 at 8:18 am #320331Rochdale imo where a class above us just like the league game at their place.
We were left to feed off scraps after the early goal it made it so easy for them to play the game out, we could never have done that from the 3rd minute onwards.
Belehouan was absolutely shite yesterday and something we couldn’t afford to happen when everyone needed to be at there best.1 user thanked author for this post.

May 4, 2026 at 9:44 am #320336Please not JB at RB ever again. CB, maybe. I’d still worry about his ability to turn and track nippy forwards though. Seems to accelerate well going forward but not defending so well.

May 4, 2026 at 11:26 am #320341JB as you say ain’t a right back as he was out of position on both goals. Saying that he got no players tracking back his side to cover/help.
Defensively we look very weak especially against quick wingers/strikers.
Midfield didn’t get a grip of anything yesterday neither. Ewing won’t be a miss.
I’m doubting Roberts if he does go to a league team too.Rochdale were better but didn’t need to be too great to beat us yesterday. We looked 5 yards off the pace. Maybe Tuesday took its toll.
York would have murdered us on yesterday’s showing.
May 4, 2026 at 11:34 am #320344I wasn’t there, don’t go to away games any more since the death of my best mate, even if tickets were available.
But it sounded, and looked, as if we were lumping it long over the heads of midfield?
I’ve certainly questioned that at home games this season.May 4, 2026 at 11:41 am #320345Do you think it might have been different if Whitehall hadn’t gone off injured awaywego? We looked shell shocked after the early goal but after Whitehall went off we looked bereft.
That team should have got promoted.
May 4, 2026 at 12:14 pm #320351How many people have played right back this season ?? We were shocking down that flank yesterday. Beestin came on too late for me, we had them rattled in the latter part of the game. They won by an own goal and a goal that could have easily been prevented. Small margins. The linesman on our side, we were right in line with his wrong decisions. Did their keeper carry the ball outside the area ?? UTWI

May 4, 2026 at 12:20 pm #320352Had their fans rattled again they had just started singing a Wembley song when we scored.
None more was heard to the final whistle. -
