The only way forward is a memorial wall, or a ‘legends wall’, with a brick each for those worthy players who have passed. The bricks could be paid for out of a fund people can pay into if they wish. Anything too directed at one individual player is highly contentious. Don’t get me wrong, Keegan is one of my personal heroes, but in Scunthorpe United terms is he actually more worthy than Brownsword? Cammack?
Garcia at least scored at Wembley, Kevin van Veen at Grimsby (the only win I’ve seen there and the same for most fans) and the celebration that will live forever in my memory, well at least till I get Alzheimer’s.
And Keegan did!
Certainly an interesting discussion on what constitutes a legend again, probably last addressed on here with Staffy and Jerry.
I agree with Apollo that the trust have acted a tad to early on the issue when there was/is time to have read the room and do something appropriate if and I mean if required.
I think you might have missed out the “in my opinion” bit Apollo. As Deery quite rightly pointed out to me recently after one of my posts that was a little dogmatic.
