1-2
Gale 68 mins
Other lot 85
C Howe 90+5August 19, 2026 at 12:16 pm #324933Sadly im gonna go for 1-1 which will compound a poor start to the season .. just glancing at the next few fixtures and it really is a nasty run of games to deal with and possibly wont be far off the 10 pts fro 10 games i predicted before a ball was kicked.

August 19, 2026 at 1:31 pm #324949Going for 1-1, that’s all we could muster there twice last season.
I’ll be there though so hoping we can sneak a 1-0 win.
August 19, 2026 at 2:17 pm #324952I’ve just sneaked onto the club website as an “insider”. The statistical review of both the Yeovil and Southend games do not contradict anything I saw, nor indeed the views of any observers on here. Watched AB’s post match interview after the Stoke game, where he agreed with the Stats about the build up and link up play! Nearly choked on my cuppa! Especially the bit where he admitted that training this week had focussed on that aspect of our play. You know, I think we might just sneak a draw at Eastleigh!
August 19, 2026 at 2:37 pm #324955Played em 4 times never won any of them, maybe it’s a bit early in our history to be thinking about beating them but I’ll stick my neck out and go for a 3-0 to us.
Hope so both the grandkids making the effort to go, one on the 5.50 and the other first class all the way with overnight hotel stay (lucky boy) or maybe not as time will tell.1 user thanked author for this post.
August 20, 2026 at 4:55 am #324988August 20, 2026 at 9:24 am #3250053 nil Iron win. Wristbands arrived in the post.
August 20, 2026 at 10:04 am #325010Little do you know Deerey.
August 20, 2026 at 10:18 am #325016True, its often said.
August 20, 2026 at 11:04 am #325023I’ll see Deerey’s daft one, and raise him 3-0 Eastleigh.

Have you sacrificed £6 a month so the rest of Bru doesn’t have to Phil?
August 20, 2026 at 5:09 pm #325044I’ll see Deerey’s daft one, and raise him 3-0 Eastleigh.
Are we that bad?
August 20, 2026 at 6:05 pm #325047Lot of rubbish being talked about the team because they haven’t won their first two league games convincingly and lost 1-0 away to a much better team on paper and on the day. Few folk need to calm down IMO but hey I’m guessing that won’t happen anytime soon.
August 20, 2026 at 7:03 pm #325048There’s no rubbish being talked about the team, it’s being there for all to see there’s no getting away from the fact.
Imo most fans don’t mind losing to a better team, but they want their team to at least to play at a reasonable standard,I can only say about the Southend game where it was a very very poor standard from us.
I’m and others aren’t talking rubbish it’s just as it’s been seen.
2 games don’t make a season but up to now the criticism I’ve seen is a fair reflection.
A Win on Saturday without a better performance will still not cut the mustard either though I’m sure you Ironawe and others will think differently.August 20, 2026 at 8:39 pm #325051It’s just a different opinion to yours Awaywego keep your little red and white wrist scarf on FFS 🙄

Strong bench:-
Campbell, Horton, Evans, Brennan, Beestin, Howe, Hurst. Can’t be playing Gale out wide when we have Brennan. I’d give him a go through the middle with Brennan and Jones out wide. Whitehall’s not been at it for quite a while now. We could always bring Whitehall, Parker or Dec on if he’s found wanting. Horton in for Denton.
You could make a case for Campbell starting in goal. Jones looks an absolute bag of nerves and Campbell to be fair to him played well against stoke’s young lads. Looked a lot more assured than he has in the past, but it’s how we reacts in a game that’s meaningful which is the ultimate question.
Bring Beestin on for Butterfield when he’s cream crackered.
August 20, 2026 at 11:09 pm #325054Nearly agree WG.
Evans rather than Howe for me. Not much between them defensively or pace wise but Evans the only defender we have that can (sometimes) find a man in an Iron shirt that isn’t 10 yards square of him or behind him.
Beestin for Rose – not yet seeing what Butler sees in him as a midfielder.
Happy to have him at right back though. He’s probably the best of the five possibles.
Butler won’t do any of that though so it’s academic.1 user thanked author for this post.

Can’t argue with your Whitehall opinion, I admit I picked on what he’s done rather than what he’s doing. (Or not doing whichever way you look at it)
Horton looked like a penalty waiting to happen against Southend.MKI wrote:-

I’d guess Captain & Vice are bombproof?
August 21, 2026 at 3:34 pm #325176Presume you mean they can’t move quickly even if a bomb goes off Rene.

August 21, 2026 at 5:13 pm #325183We use to use the term ‘bombproof’ for people who could still talk coherently and walk a straight line after being in the pub all day and night.
August 21, 2026 at 6:02 pm #325186Used to be one of those Deery.
Saturday Priory at 11:00 – that naff Mansfield Ales pub in town for a couple before Iron & Steel club while pubs were shut. Back to Paddy’s club for weekly band practice. Then off to Baths for the nights entertainment.
In great shape to play football Sunday morning without seeing you own bed (if you got lucky). Now 3 or 4 pints and I’m peeing for England.

August 22, 2026 at 3:45 am #325198Sarfend were better than us. Fact.
There seems to be a lot of folks feeling that this means that they are automatic promotion material.
And if they aren’t?1 user thanked author for this post.
August 22, 2026 at 6:39 am #325199Let’s hope that there’s no back stick Tom foolery today.
You don’t (in a way) mind conceding to a worldly… but to sub schoolboy defending is criminal. -
