Got what we deserved overall tonight. We had so many let offs in the first half anything would have been a slight improvement 2nd half. The difference between us and them were miles apart and just shows how much we did rely on roberts last season. I think butler has taken us as far as he can the whole lot needs a shake up. Dire most weeks papered with a win here and there with a budget spunked down the drain on half a dozen garbage players is just no where good enough.

    Yes
Time for him to sling his hook.

Like it or not Butler won’t be going anywhere..

I wouldn’t bank on that. Harness said there are provisions written into his contract should we dispense of him which won’t cost the club/put it at risk. She said that herself during her latest interview.

I suspect he’ll be given 10 games and he’ll be off if it doesn’t improve.

It’s clear Butthead has shown a gross dereliction of duty, by signing players unfit for the task. Having realised this, he’s now scrattling around trying to get more competence in the building, yet somehow turns down the offer of Fitzsimmons. Expect a departure if we don’t show some sparks tomorrow.

Absolutely Apollo and some families deal with it and handle it in different ways, they obviously have struggled but not all similar situations are entirely predictable.

Exactly my point. You have no idea what it’s going to be like, how tough it’s going to be and how you’ll actually cope until you are in the middle of it. At the human level I really feel for the Smiths.

At the club level I am dismayed if we are out of pocket, as we can hardly afford to be. If, of course, an outside body paid the transfer fee (Yaddlethorpe Motors was mentioned in relation to the Smith transfer, wasn’t it?), then I hope the club and company or company and agent (etc) were able to come to amicable agreement on recompense.

    It’s a bit of a sh*tshow.

    Heaven knows I’m miserable now.

What’s the most worrying the complete lack of team cohesion. Butler got all the players in relatively early and most “nearly all” on permanent contracts in a bid to get them bedded in. Two games in and it looks like he’s picked 11 players at random and their all strangers.

No patterns of play and looks disjointed. Not sure what he’s been doing with them during pre season, but whatever it is, it clearly hasn’t worked.

The squad is a jumbled mess. GK problem hasn’t been solved due to Butler’s stubbornness. A raft of RB’s and natural left wingers, when we’re short of a quality CM playerm striker and obviously GK. Jones is a fantastic shot stopper but falls way short in all the other goalkeeping areas, distrubution, claiming high balls e.t.c.

Butler was asked during a DAZN interview whether he has a preferred style of play, which he resonded “No. I just like winning football”. When you actually think about it, we never have had a style of play since he’s been at the club. We basically pass around the back countless times and hoof it forward in an attempt to play off the scraps.

Only problem is we haven’t got a Callum Roberts playing 2/3 levels below his ability level who’s going to drift into spaces. pick the scraps up and do the unthinkable. Butler is playing in the same manner without the magic on the pitch which get’s us out of trouble.

Only way really to circumvent the lack of Roberts would be to play two up front. If Butler thinks he can keep playing in the same way in the hope of a player coming up with a moment of magic game in game out, he’s in for a rude awakening. Brennan came up with one against Yeovil, but he’s not Roberts, we can’t be hanging our hat on him every week.

I’ll make a prediction even from this early on that Butler will be found out and he’ll end up getting sacked. We are still witnessing odd team selections, so not sure he’s really learnt much. Howe out wide against Yeovil despite having 4 wide options and leaves Rowley out against Southend for the anonymous Richards, who has looked absolutely abysmal so far.

Spent most of the budget and we’ve ended up with the same basic problems of last season as nothing has been addressed. Only now we don’t have star players who are able to paper over the cracks. This squad is the most unbalanced it’s been in distant memory.

Why he re-signed Barrows and went for Ogle when we have Jb, Starbuck is odd the say the least. Jb and Starbuck are miles ahead of those two. Completely wasted the budget.

Granted it’s very early on in the season, but it’s not looking good at all. After watching us in the last two games, something certainly isn’t right. Team Cohesion/ bonding should have been fostered in pre season. I haven’t seen any evidence whatsoever of us having either.

    Concur with this.

Tis estimated that Peter Swanns lost £20 million of his personal wealth with Scunthorpe united.
Obviously he left Dave a few million in the bank when he took over to fritter away before he gave the club to Michelle.

Not his money was it though.

The Drum was there evidently NWI.

Obviously spurred us on to incredible heights. Shouldn’t the players have a say on this misaphonia inducing child, hitting his toy with no rhythm or style ? Ban the Drum and the DJ.

I do not believe there should be a statue for Kevin Keegan at Scunthorpe united. A bar or a road perhaps, but not a statue and not a stand. This is not to belittle his achievements at Scunthorpe, but his great achievements happened elsewhere (Anfield, StJames Park or Wembley) and one of those locations is where it should be. I live in Doncaster and the local press and social media are talking about a memorial at the Keepmoat, when I would have thought a blue plaque on his childhood home in Armthorpe would have been enough ! I do not think the clubs supporters should be putting there fundraising efforts into this whilst the club itself is still on it’s uppers.

    Correct

One of my good friends on Twitter, Fiddlers Elbow seems to think we’ll do ok and he seems pretty clued up.

Personally, I think we sneak into the playoffs with some ups and downs along with way, make it to the final and lose (but I’m somewhat of an optimist).

Was he based out of the White Hart in Brigg, and a member of the BI Iron? Strange chap.

I refrain from most of the club’s output anyway so if people want to pay for more ,that’s up to them.It becomes a hard sell if it’s signing announcement and everyday news some expect .
I have the biggest reservation over the ticket allocation Queue jumping for £60.People like me pay full price for nearly all games and the club know how much I spend on tickets and games I attend through their ticketing system .Somebody who attends no games can spend £60 and get preference over fans who attend the majority of games at full price.Thats grubby from the club.
As for moaning I think my reservations on fan involvement are pretty consistent and are usually my only concerns. Obviously blowing off after games is a separate issue.
That said, there are those on here looking for Michelle to tread on the cracks of the pavement to hammer her for while expecting her to pay for their pleasure

That’s the point fella – you’re straight back on the attack of anything you deam which doesn’t represent your views.

This thread should be about a fan been banned for abusive language of a female employee of SUFC.

Are you actually bothered if she is ok?

I don’t represent any Supporters Club but if you want to widen it to the Supporters Club you represent on a Sat start a new thread…

    Kindly smarten up your syntax and spelling skills, if you’re to post on this forum ;
“deem”, “being”, “anything you deam (sic) which doesn’t represent your views” ????

Gender does not come into play with regard to football stewarding. The individual in question knew she wasn’t applying for a job on the make-up counter at Boots, and industrial language is one of the cornerstones of English football spectating. Your point is moot. ( Look it up ).

Unfortunately Butler doesn’t always work it out.

Earl on tuther side asking can’t we all get along.
Says we’re all in it for the same reason Mmmm. Can’t buy that I’m afraid, never going to convince me, Dave is all about Dave, not that we haven’t realised that from his conception, if anyone as ever looked like a parasite he fits the bill in a social context.
What a state off affairs that he has to keep that positive pretence up forever, well at least while he’s here anyway.
I don’t feel the need to get on with anyone let alone fan groups nor should I,I just go along and support the team surely that’s enough.
I get called out all the time on here that’s what happens on forums when you don’t agree, no biggie.

Yet he seems to be the one stirring the pot, at every available opportunity. The comments he has managed to garner regarding Bru are despicable.
