August 14, 2026 at 11:21 am #324601Have you thought about getting a little part time job Rene? Few hours a week – relieve your boredom and be financially rewarded?
August 14, 2026 at 12:24 pm #324605I reckon he’s got more money than he knows what to do with. I keep expecting him to be the new investor that we need.

Until the day somebody rocks up waving a million quid in her face saying “ I’d like to invest this amount in your football club please “. Sudden change of heart perhaps?
August 14, 2026 at 3:01 pm #324609You’d want at least 51% of the club if you stumped up a million, but she’s only just got slightly over 20%.

You might not want any part of the club you might just want to invest a million over five years to go towards running costs or boost the wage budget you don’t have to own anything you don’t want to.

Get over it, there are very few directors who put money into a football club with no intention of getting it back. I read a book 40-50 years ago investigating a number of main shareholders in the 50s, 60s and early 70s including the Edwards family at Manchester United, Everton’s Moores, Burnley’s Bob Lord and quite a few more that I can’t remember. This is not to say they were doing anything illegal, although the terms of the loans may have been a bit one-sided.
Coming back to our club, we have of course only to look at our two previous owners, I doubt very much that either of them lost money during their tenure. They spent the club’s money and assets until there was nothing left, and then rode off into the sunset caring nothing for the club.August 14, 2026 at 6:10 pm #324619You’d want at least 51% of the club if you stumped up a million, but she’s only just got slightly over 20%.

August 14, 2026 at 7:21 pm #324621Tis estimated that Peter Swanns lost £20 million of his personal wealth with Scunthorpe united.
Obviously he left Dave a few million in the bank when he took over to fritter away before he gave the club to Michelle.August 14, 2026 at 8:00 pm #324622“Whilst at Scunthorpe Utd” Reports suggest the losses were mainly equine based.

Didn’t he write off loans of £11m when shifting Glanford Park into another of his companies?
Was asking for £3m when selling, so there are some football related losses there, let alone the money wasted on architects, solicitors etc. on his imaginary new stadium, plus the ridiculous salary he reportedly paid Rodwell for 4-5 years.
A “football man” though, so he knew what he was doing, as he kept telling Jeff Stelling…

That’s a fair point but how many football club owners actually put money into a club expecting a return particularly lower league and non league clubs, the returns are more trophy or league progression based not a financial return. So is any lower league investment actually investment? I’m guessing not.
August 14, 2026 at 9:47 pm #324627At what age would an aging directorial creditor call in their loans?
You’d want your executor to have a simple a ‘job’ as possible… wouldn’t you?
Are the loans interest free?
The DLA would disclose. -
