What a state off affairs that he has to keep that positive pretence up forever, well at least while he’s here anyway.
I don’t feel the need to get on with anyone let alone fan groups nor should I,I just go along and support the team surely that’s enough.

In all seriousness, I didn’t have a huge problem with him and felt others were too harsh on him, but people are allowed a negative opinion of others. I don’t get why he couldn’t have just ignored anything he didn’t like. It’s not like anyone was piling on him in real life or sending him abusive messages, so far as I am aware.

What should be talked about is fantastic season we are having and the chance of a return to the efl.

To be fair, and I’ve said this on here before, people on here can talk about anything connected to Scunthorpe United should they wish. It’s all-encompassing. So if it’s United it will be talked about whether the subject matter is major, like the team, the matches, the board and the behind the scenes, or whether it’s something minor, something less obvious. Absolutely anything and everything is on the table and up for debate, if there is a United connection, no matter how seemingly slight or tenuous or irrelevant that connection might seem. It is ALL Scunthorpe United.

If I remember correctly there was no division of fan groups until this Unity Group appeared on the scene.
We already had several long established well run Fans Groups and why was there a need for another ?
Seems to me it was to feed the egos of some of the members of Unity !
It just seems Unity go from incident to incident and the publicity this brings is not the sort the Club needs.
One thing is for sure the last name that should have been chosen is Unity !

No matter what I think of how the Unity group especially how those who launched it attacked fans causing people to get death threats,I believe his history starting point works nicely to ignore what IronHour and unity group members did to Iron fans during the Hilton era.They fired the 1st shots so to speak.Rob himself has fronted up ,he’s not hidden,I sadly suspect that certain trust board members are hiding behind pseudonym to fuel this fire on various platforms
I’m a proud trust member and concerned about this,it’s beneath the trust in my
opinion .
As for Comedy Dave, he chose to make himself a public figure by courting publicity ,he also slighted long term fans .That said I think he got too much scorn poured on him and suffered by being caught in the crossfire .I’ve had a couple of days to digest his cancer comment and I sill find it a bad comment,his bitterness is understandable.
As for Truro,I find it an amusing aside to torment people who hurt my friends in the Hilton era.Fair game.
The drum really did bother me at Halifax,I am quite sensitive to noise and sometimes cannot filter them out,It’s easier at GP at it tends to have poor accoustics but at Halifax it made me very uncomfortable and low frequency sounds like drums are the worst for me .It’s not being ” miserable old lefty” as the thug site suggests,it’s a genuine issue

Loop earplugs are wonderful things. I’ve got two or three sets for different situations – crowds, gigs, industrial etc etc etc.

s for those pouring scorn on Bru on facebook ,Jason Hinsley, Banned/ran away from this site as he kept getting posts deleted for abuse. Earl Priestly seem to think he can slag us off without response I don’t expect much more from a guy who thinks a daft hat gives him a personality.He is the one who shared the post about the drum on facebook to cause a row then cried foul when he got a response.

There’s certainly seems to have been a lack of accountability for some really poor behaviour, some of which had real world consequences for some people. Whether the behaviour was deliberate or just careless, who knows? I suspect the former. Whichever way, though, I haven’t seen any acknowledgement or apology. 64’s comment is fair and balanced. Repeating what my first sentence said in my original post, but I can see why Positivity Dave felt annoyed with some of the harsh comments. That said, there is no need for him, like others, to treat Bru as a monolith where no-one has anything different to say. I found his style cringeworthy, but harmless, though his cancer comment was below the belt. The problem is he gives the impression that calling him ‘cringeworthy’ would be seen as some massive slight akin to horrendous abuse. He is in the public sphere and that will get some fans of him, but also those who aren’t so keen. Sometimes those comments can tip to the harsh and cruel, but that’s the price we pay for free speech; so long as it isn’t defamatory or inciting violence against him, it can’t reasonably be censored. The melodrama to what was a handful of people commenting negatively also did him no favours. He made out a whole legion were against him, but it was just a few being really negative, and if that drives him away, maybe a public persona was never the right thing for him.

There have been some deragatory remarks from here towards the Facebook and Unity groups on here, so that won’t endear. Sometimes, like when calling them the ‘cult page’, it will understandably cause or escalate dislike against Bru, and I won’t claim to be innocent. However, it’s their whiter than white attitude that gets me, when they were more than happy to pile on Bru and others who were critical of Hilton. They wanted to attack others and make slanderous remarks, while playing innocent victims of bullying whenever they got it back. As 64 says, there were death threats and doxxing, amplified by that page and members of Unity, saying nothing against it and making out the trouble causers were those who dared to say anything against Hilton. This gave the impression that they thought criticising Hilton as something that deserved retaliation and that the nasty remarks made by some of them and the responses by Hilton were deserved. I lost track of the times critics were called ‘club killers’ or ‘parasites’ for what was questioning of Hilton or being critical.

Post-Hilton there was talk of a need to unite, and by and large I agree (though people like Herbert I find impossible to reconcile with, given their behaviour was worse than just being duped), but it has to be both ways. Some on there seem to think they can hold on to their grudges with Bru, from false claims of being Swann lovers, while expecting others to not feel badly over how they acted, when they were far more backing of Hilton than Bru ever was with Swann (I remember Swann getting angered by Matt Ellis making out he was like Fenty at Grimsby). It’s always others who have to adjust for unity, and never them. Yes, I am generalising, I don’t want to tar everyone by the same brush, and realise Bru hasn’t always been perfect with them, but any kind of division can only be healed if they make the effort too. Maw’s and others’ recent comments make me think they don’t think they have to and responsibility is for everyone else.

I did see Marco from Iron Hour say animosity between them and Bru is a thing of the past, so hopefully that is the case, and would be a positive. Time for Maw and others to do the same thing and accept that they have caused division over antics (which doesn’t make them bad people, necessarily), and maybe we can all do the same.
