Great day at the football, but please god can we ban that infernal drumming child. It’s intrusive, irritating and unnecessary.

I love the atmosphere a couple or three drummers brings, throw in a ‘lead vocalist / song conductor’ and you get a great ‘side show’ to accompany the game… will at least at Hercules games.
I love it.
March 29, 2026 at 7:19 am #318477Forgot to say, that the ‘lead singer’ at the Hercules games has a huge PA speaker system that blasts out the songs for the entire 90 minutes of the game. Great atmosphere

I imagine you’re a real livewire at party’s you miserable git.
March 29, 2026 at 10:07 am #318481The drummer gets the crowd singing and makes for a much better atmosphere most people like it me included.
March 29, 2026 at 10:25 am #318482Common theme there Northwestiron, southyorksiron and twowrights guess out of towners don’t like the drumming.
Funny thing is one of them stood ten foot in front of him, weird really in such a massive stand.Ps, Haven’t been to Halifax in a long time from the dump it was with the speedway track around it and stood on cinder banking, to now the best non league ground I’ve been to puts our tin shed to shame.

Don’t mind the drummer but surely this is a step too far. Actually it’s many steps too far, how can you abuse the opposition fans, players and manager (and possibly your own) over that racket?
March 29, 2026 at 10:43 am #318485Each to his own Awaywego. You’ll be telling me you enjoy listening to Billy the Trumpeter (Barmy Army cricket) playing the same three tunes badly for five days in a row next.

March 29, 2026 at 11:22 am #318488I know the lad means well and some people seem to like it. Sadly, it seems to have established itself as a club endorsed “good thing.” The canon of chants and songs was far richer and more inventive in days of yore and some of that is down to the drum. If we need that to get an atmosphere going, it’s a damning indictment of the modern game imo.

March 29, 2026 at 11:56 am #318490A badly played drum played too much, even up the sodding road .
Plenty of day trippers yesterday acting up on the concourse, shit fans who can’t handle their drink .
Our durge songs suit them as they can just grunt along to them .
As for the Beny song it’s hideous ,as bad as adding ” effing obvious” to Hiho. Low IQ stupidity2 users thanked author for this post.
March 29, 2026 at 12:02 pm #318492Apart from that did you enjoy your day?
March 29, 2026 at 12:14 pm #318493‘it’s a damning indictment of the modern game imo.’
I think that’s a bit general. More EFL and ex-EFL clubs in my experience. There are numerous non league clubs below us with a rich canon of amusing and inventive songs and and chants. Often self deprecating. Though they tend to be more left wing, liberal fan bases.
March 29, 2026 at 12:18 pm #318494Isn’t that the intention of drinking to get ones self merry, or is it that people see the need to drink copious amounts and be totally compos mentis.
Nowt clever in either but specially the latter what a waste of money, not like anyone needs to drink that much liquid.March 29, 2026 at 12:25 pm #318495I’m all for it personally. Been to away games when he’s not there and the atmosphere is usually a bit of a damp squib.
March 29, 2026 at 12:33 pm #318496And talking of hideous chants we were greeted at Donny from the cods with “up the mariners up the mariners” just sing it in your head and it’s as cheesy as it was sung, could have been a group of 7 year olds singing at the school assembly instead of 30/40 years olds.
The only one comparable was hearing hull singing tigers tigers rah rah rah.March 29, 2026 at 12:43 pm #318498Dumb & D(r)umber?

Good for you, however this aimless statement simply equates “drumming” with “atmosphere”. That’s like saying FISH = WASHING MACHINE.
If you get excited by some badly executed ear splitting racket, then the Dumbness lays at your door son.

Do you go to parties to listen to a drummer playing loud and badly ? Maybe I wouldn’t enjoy the sort of parties you attend.
March 29, 2026 at 1:07 pm #318501I dont think you enjoy parties at all.
March 29, 2026 at 1:09 pm #318502He drums and then fans chant surely that’s creating an atmosphere. (Obviously a bad atmosphere in your case)
Now if he just drummed and that was it then your fish = washing machine would come into play but it doesn’t.
Armies used to have a battlefield drummer as a rallying call and morale booster, the players themselves have said they appreciate it, not for everyone of course but plenty of room in the Mortz stand if you don’t.1 user thanked author for this post.

Aimless? Why?
Drumming = Atmosphere? You’d need to attended a Hercules CF game to understand.
Excited by? No.
Dumbness? IQ of 145
Son? You’d have to be 78 to ‘legally’ be my Padre.
¡Olé!March 29, 2026 at 1:55 pm #318504That’s fair. When I have been to Alty and West Didsbury & Chorlton, the songs have been far more inventive than you hear at league and ex-league grounds.

March 29, 2026 at 1:56 pm #318505In the end It makes being there unpleasant for many, more so than fans just singing.
It becomes distracting,it’s ok for those not wanting to watch the game and be saddoes singing about “taking over “a town .
Also what is this fascination with wanting to be near a wall?.1 user thanked author for this post.
March 29, 2026 at 2:10 pm #318506Bet it’s a cracking day out with you 64 lol.
March 29, 2026 at 2:11 pm #318507Because I don’t want to be near a wall beckoning my mates to join me while videoing myself?
I just find it oddMarch 29, 2026 at 2:26 pm #318508That’s fair. When I have been to Alty and West Didsbury & Chorlton, the songs have been far more inventive than you hear at league and ex-league grounds.

WD&CFC are a good example, though they can also be a bit too right on and preachy at times. The other end of the spectrum I suppose, but at least there’s some uniqueness to it as opposed to regurgitated chants of other EFL clubs.
March 29, 2026 at 3:09 pm #318510At the end of the day, the drumming child seems to have been imposed unilaterally, with no thought for those who find it irritating beyond belief. A vote seems necessary in my opinion, and let’s hope clubs with more taste choose to ban this tone deaf, and rhythmically inept moron.
Why the flying fig would I want to watch a lower league Spanish club with multiple drummers, in Alicante, the place where people go who have no imagination.
March 29, 2026 at 3:25 pm #318512It’s difficult to think of Rene as having a lack of imagination when you read his posts. Have you seen his poem?
March 29, 2026 at 3:44 pm #318513I think most fans would vote to keep it and I certainly don’t think the drummer should be banned.
This post has taken off on the Facebook group. “Miserable so and so”, fxxk the lefties says iron bru will have the drummer “stooped”, and there are complaints of slander against Positivity Dave.

March 29, 2026 at 4:32 pm #318514The clubs more likely to ban 64 with his negative attitude to certain players if Butler had his way over them.
Though they couldnt ban him from away games unfortunately,
Danny stamp and others have proven that.
Dave the oracle did say though it wasn’t a scunny fan with the smoke bombs so that’s good to know.March 29, 2026 at 5:12 pm #318516I think most fans would vote to keep it and I certainly don’t think the drummer should be banned.

I’ve seen some of these comments. Amazing how some are still bitter towards Bru for embarrassing themselves so spectacularly in the past.
