In Butler’s pre-match interview he suggested Callum is out because of concussion protocols.

And no official word on a goalkeeper. Do we have one?

Think they mentioned on Humberside it’s equalled our longest unbeaten start to a season which was back in the 1930’s!

It’s not, only going to get worse from here on in. Pretty miffed that lessons clearly weren’t learnt from last season’s pitch/beach fiasco.

Had a flick through the highlights of all the other NL games this week and ours was by far the worst.

Better 2nd half but still not great, lucky to come away from that with a draw so we’ll take the point and move on.

Not good so far is it. So many heads down strolling around the pitch. Pitch probably isn’t helping, can’t believe it’s this bad after how bad it was last season…lesson clearly not learnt.

2 points per game is promotion form, so anything close to 8 points from 4 games against top 8 sides would be incredible. I’d be happy with 5.

Starbuck needs a deserved mention too, thought he was excellent filling in at centre back.

Agree about Dawson. Equaled Becks Iron career flick ons, hold ups and goals in 25 minutes.

Plus a lovely knock down for the 2nd, so has now eclipsed the number of Beck’s goal contributions in less than an hour.

Was a bit surprised by Dawson starting but he’s been excellent so far…and what a finish!

Should be fully committed with a basic formation of 442.

Why? We’re unbeaten in the league and have played pretty much a 4-3-3 every game.

Amateur hour. This is what happens when you try to do things on the cheap and sack your ground staff. Only going to get worse as the temperatures drop towards winter.

Surely he can’t start after his “performance” on Tuesday night when again he did absolutely nothing of note.

I’d go for the same starting lineup as the OP.

I’d say he’s just joining the dots between Whitehall going down injured against FGR (with what looked like the same knee problem as last season) and then bringing in Sellars-Fleming on a one month loan.

If Whitehall is out then as said above surely we play Dec through the middle and not completely ruin our game by lumping it to Beck.

One thing that this game highlighted is that it is abundantly clear that Beck should be nowhere near a football pitch. Can’t run, can’t beat 18 year olds in the air, outmuscled by 18 year olds, just generally can’t keep up with play!

Have a feeling it’s bad news regarding the Whitehall injury and he’s being brought in as cover.

He was brilliant and kept us in the game, especially the first half. Deserved chants of “Rory Rory Watson” at multiple points throughout the game. Clearly distraught at the end, being consoled by FGR players which I thought was a nice touch on their part. If he didn’t fumble that at the end it probably would have been the best goalkeeping performance I’ve seen since his heroics at home vs Carlisle in 2020.

I definitely had a grumble when we brought him back but he’s looked the part so far and long may it continue.

Chadwick got an opportunity at Eastleigh and didn’t really do anything of note.

Howe hasn’t completed a full game yet. Does he really run himself completely into the ground, or is it his just his GPS telling the management team “that’s enough running for you, off the pitch you come?” It does seem like we make substitutions for the sake of it half the time.

Re: Beck. Have to agree…he just doesn’t get anywhere near anything and offers virtually nothing. To think we paid actual money for him as well.

Speaking to a FG fan after the game, he was ecstatic with the result, said we had the game won…clearly wasn’t aware of our nasty habit of conceding late goals from high balls into the box!

Such a good performance from him up until the final seconds of the game. Everyone on the terrace knew exactly what was about to happen as soon as Carlton played that hospital pass and they got a free kick. Back post again olé olé!

And if on that day Wealdstone need to win with a 2 or more goal margin to avoid relegation and are winning 2-0…just walk off the pitch and condemn them to a 0-0 win.

Here’s a working link to their rulebook.

    https://www.ncefl.org.uk/league/rules/downloads/NCEL_League_Rules_2025-26.pdf

Nothing in there about having to have a certain reason for applying rule 8.38. Just walk off the pitch if you’re losing.

“In the event of a match being abandoned due to the conduct of one Club or its members or supporters, the Board has the power to order that either: (a) the original match stands as a completed match, (b) the match is replayed (and the terms upon which the match is replayed), or (c) the match is not replayed, and to award either one or three points to the Club not at fault. The Board cannot levy a financial penalty due to the conduct of a Club.”

Suggests they would have been well within their “rules” to award us a 2-1 win as a “completed match”.

Really struggling to get my head around the goals being wiped. Surely it sets the precedent that if you’re losing towards the end of a game you just walk off the pitch and refuse to play. You’ll still get zero points but will be as if you never conceded.

Or a final game showdown between two teams vying for promotion/playoff spot/safety…one team needs to beat the other by 2 goals and are 5-0 up…nah just walk off the pitch.

Replaying the Eastleigh game – correct decision.

Getting 3 points for Wealdstone – correct decision.

    BUT

Wiping off the goals scored/conceded is a mad decision! We’ve effectively been punished whilst Wealdstone have benefited. If it were UEFA we would have received a 3-0 victory similar to Romania vs Kosovo when the Kosovo players walked off the pitch and refused to play. Obviously the NL seems things differently.

At the end of the season if we’re about to get relegated or drop out of the playoffs on goal difference you just walk off the pitch and refuse to play…job done. Absolutely bonkers!

You can make 5 substitutions but only using 3 substitution occurrences. They made their 3, therefore couldn’t make any more.

The National League conveniently left our game out of their weekly round-up.
