Waiting another four years?
Bollocks to that!
February 20, 2026 at 9:43 am #316509The new recruits aren’t firing. Whitehall’s not. Get him recalled.
February 20, 2026 at 10:41 am #316510Give them a chance! Smith and Dausch haben’t played much, Hurst a bit more but still not a lot. We’ve seen how good Smith is, needs to be playing from the start to get up to speed IMO. Also he’s our player which is another reason to give him priority. He’s a better player than Howe in the ‘left of front 3’ that AB favours.

February 21, 2026 at 12:51 am #316512February 21, 2026 at 4:44 am #316513without going back to look at recent Alty games has Dec Howe played many minutes for them or been on the bench ? the whole point was he went there for game time so if its not materializing surely he may as well come back ASAP .. imo we miss his energy he works hard and knocks in the odd goal.. that said i did read a rumour hes attitude had drifted and AB n him had gurned at each other.. RUMOUR only

February 21, 2026 at 5:37 am #316515‘The odd goal?’
If memory serves, Dec scored ten goals in some 30 appearances. One in three is not at all bad.
However when you consider that in so many of those games, he had not been invited to play for much more than 25 minutes – his scoring record looks considerably more impressive. He is not that many miles away from an equivalent of one in two after actual time on the pitch is brokered in.2 users thanked author for this post.

Are there Squares where rounds should be ?
February 21, 2026 at 9:57 am #316517We can only recall Howe if there’s a recall agreement in place.
February 21, 2026 at 10:31 am #316518I disagree with this narrative around Howe. He was playing left of a front three – not his position granted. AB only plays with one centre forward. It is clear that Howe needs to play as part of a two. That wont happen, playing two up top is slightly old fashioned tactics.
Howe unfortunately playing out of position means his defensive and tactical nous is very limited and means we are weaker when he plays in that position.
Whitehall is a better all round centre forward because he is taller, can hold the ball up and has a better goalscoring record at this and the level below.
I do like Howe’s effort although mind you how many 90 mins did he complete with us?
This doesn’t mean I prefer Smith, Dausch or Hurst though on the left. All three are right footed and means that we play too narrow with Roberts also cutting in and our fullbacks don’t overlap as they are more defensive in nature (Starbuck is more offensive but his defending recently has been shaky)
Anyway, a different perspective…

Initial month I believe so that’s up next weekend.
With the players we have Butler should be able to change from a 4-3-3 to 4-4-2 as and when the need arises.
Not that difficult.

February 21, 2026 at 11:40 am #316520Shown no inclination to try much 4-4-2 so far. Seems to be leaning more towards 4-2-3-1 recently.
February 21, 2026 at 12:43 pm #316522Depends which club you believe NI, Altrincham say it’s till the end of season.
Another 2 weeks till one month is up.February 21, 2026 at 1:26 pm #316523IronLion – 442 may be old fashioned but for us seems to work.
We have seen with several managers that when their over complications and excessive passing does not deliver consistently they have to admit inconsistency and go back to 442 that settles it all down again.
Priority though is round pegs in round holes.

Fox In The Box Gets His First Alty Goal
Keep on smiling… n scoring!
February 23, 2026 at 1:05 pm #316625Made the national league team of the day to boot.
February 23, 2026 at 1:07 pm #316626How (e) many goals did he score playing in his correct position?? AB brings him here knowing he is not going to play him in that position. Why the hell did AB bring him here and then send him out on lone. Another AB lack of judgement. IF we get hammered tomorrow AB be just be shown the door.

Butler shown the door? No chance. Quite right too, lower your expectations.1 user thanked author for this post.

Leave the mangergoround to other twonky clubs.February 23, 2026 at 1:46 pm #316630Does anyone know if Butler has got his contract sorted? The last thing I remember was AB saying that he was looking for some amendments.
February 23, 2026 at 2:13 pm #316631Butler made a rod for his own back with his tetchy comments to fans, but to call for his head is ridiculous. The manner of this blip is alarming, but chopping and changing so impulsively has failed in the past and it seems some have been desperate to stick the knife into Butler after the hysteria of the start of the 24-25 season, the blip in form in the winter and again now.
February 23, 2026 at 2:25 pm #316632If this slump continues and we fall out the play offs some questions will need answering. Most of the players he’s brought in are either not what we needed “wrong type of player” or just been miles off it.
Crying out for an out and out striker to give Whitehall a kick up the arse due to how bad he’s been playing and we sign a young kid from Coventry who looks to be completely the wrong profile of striker we actually needed.
I get the budget is tight, but come on, surely had to be somebody more suitable out there.

February 23, 2026 at 2:36 pm #316633I’m not sharpening the axe for Butler just yet, we are nowhere near full-blown pitchfork territory. But let’s not kid ourselves either: if this team manages to stumble its way out of qualifying for the play-offs from here, the noise won’t just be loud, it’ll be deserved. At that point, there are going to be some very uncomfortable questions hanging in the air…and simply pretending everything is fine won’t cut it.

February 23, 2026 at 3:01 pm #316634Bloody hell if we fell out of the playoffs now and there’s very little chance with that Butler would have to go.
Jimmy lost his job when finishing 2nd. No room for sentiment and one can’t rest on ones laurels.2 users thanked author for this post.
February 23, 2026 at 4:31 pm #316635Butler is still learning, he is going through a sticky patch. He needs to act more grown up when dealing with the fans and needs to play to players strengths and more round pegs for those circular holes. He isn’t going anywhere and nor should he….but he does need to develop and be open about his shortcomings

February 23, 2026 at 5:04 pm #316636Not bloody hell, ‘AWAYWEGO ‘ ( though i am still in shock that JIMMY DEAN got the sack for finishing second, drawing 0:0 with playing for penalties Boston in playoffs, not 6:3 ) but if the teams below us, Halifax, Hartlepool and Solihull beat us, that is the 9 point cushion to 8th place.
But i know those teams have to go on a brilliant winning run to catch the IRON , one of them has goal scorer Will Harris, didn’t we have him..February 23, 2026 at 6:48 pm #316638Doesn’t work like that Bhuna if them teams do go on to beat us they only close the gap by 3 Pts per team.
If we lose to York and Solihull and Solihull win both their games they’d still be 12 points behind us come Saturday tea.1 user thanked author for this post.
