A little ironic IFA. An immigrant to Thailand bemoaning immigrants in the country you left behind.

Nearly put Barrows and Belahoun on my list Cass. Both just short of matches to meet the level and wouldn’t be too concerned if either needs to start games. Also Carlton is a useful impact sub but probably not consistent enough to start.

Nothing against the rest of the lads, they all work hard enough but I think they are likely to be playing NLN level next season. We can get by now with the odd absence at the back or up top but we will struggle if we lose any midfielders or Mahady to injury or suspensions.

That assumes nobody waves a bag of Werthers at Roberts or Ewing in January and Westbrook, TSF and Mahady extend their loans.

I think we have got to the point we have 15 players now that can start a game without significantly weakening the team.

Starting 11 last 2 games plus Beestin, Evans, Rose and Howe. I’m no sports scientist and obviously don’t have access to the players data but if Butler is genuinely making substitutions to protect the long and medium term fitness of that core group then it would make sense particularly when 3 of the 15 are already injured.

We need most of that group to stay fit for the next 26 league games to make the playoffs and we would need pretty much all of them fit and available to stand a fighting chance if we get there.

Have criticised Butler substitution bingo in the past but agreed with what he did yesterday.

Whitehall is not 100% match fit and Sellers-Fleming had put in a real shift. Hartlepool had to have a go and they pushed men forward. Given they pretty much bypassed midfield the whole game Barrows for an also not fully match sharp Ewing made sense to me.
Scales coming on was too late to make a material difference and gave us fans the chance to give Roberts his deserved ovation.

Westbrooke a keeper either loan extension or better still a permanent deal.

Chadwick thanks Billy and good luck.

Barrows already shown enough for at least a deal to the end of season especially with Rose and all 3 centre backs injured.

I would add Rowley to the list of players we would struggle without and we need Sellers-Fleming to the end of the season.

Merry Christmas to all that believe in that and happy holidays to those that don’t.

3 points at the monkey hangers after yesterday’s fine performance would be a great Christmas for us Iron fans. Even a point would be good but don’t tell Andy that.

Agree Les. Either a foot is off the ground or on the pitch by the time the ball is released. Sometimes both of thoe things on the same throw. Still the officials let it go.

I was of course meaning his shirt number. He did look quite young but everyone does to me these days.

    Nice one Cass.

They were pretty good in midfield but didn’t have much quality in either box. Their tallish midfielder (think he was 14) was very tidy in midfield.
Good to see our back up players do pretty well today.
Horton has been a revelation as a part time centre back. Even when he makes a mistake he is quick enough to rescue the situation. Two tough away games coming up which may well define whether we’re heading for mid table or the playoffs.

If the lad keeps working hard he is going to be too good for an average L2 side. Better having another 20 games and 10 goals with us and alert some decent EFL clubs for next season.

Had a slow start giving the ball away too often but has improved with every game. Would love it if we signed him but hopefully not as a replacement for Ewing.

Probably the level for both of them. Although if both had been a bit braver they might have still been here.

    Pleased for them.

Ewing and Roberts may make the squad but not ready for 90 minutes. Whitehall definitely not before Woking and Rose had a relapse so out until the new year. Beestin carrying a hip injury but hints he may start but not last 90.

    All from Humberside interview yesterday.

Only watched the stream but the lad looked to have a better touch than any of our other centre forward options – even goal machine Beck.
Made intelligent runs even when blowing out of his arse late on.

Funny old game Cass. 4 weeks ago we were unlucky to get beaten by a league 1 team.

Take out 3 or 4 of our better players and no one thinks we can get a result against an average National League team.

2 weeks short of 45 years ago IFA. I was there as well. Their centre forward (King?) kicked and bullied us all game and the referee let him away with it. Joe didn’t and cost the club a decent payday.

Andy lives up to the Yorkshire stereotype. A Yorkshireman is never wrong.

Of course you get it wrong Andy. All managers buy a few princess and usually a few more dogs. Impossible to not buy dogs at this level and without a top budget.

Definite winners for Butler are Ewing, Rowley and it’s looking like Horton. Starbuck, Rose, Belahoun,Howe and S-F looking OK so far.

Eze, Chadwick, Brogan, Dawson, Beck and Carlton might have been OK for mid table NLN but none of the have shown they can play at National League level.

Not a bad hit rate Andy so stop being so sensitive about the one’s that have not worked out. Roll the dice again and let’s see if we can hang on to 7th place by our fingertips and then have our best 11 fit for the playoffs.

Forgot to add it’s surely got to be Howe and S-F for 90 minutes while Whitehall is injured unless the game is either properly won or lost.

He had 45 minutes against Truro where he put himself about, scored a cracker and looked like a real centre forward.
Sadly he looks like a man worrying about getting injured in all of his other appearances. May well be psychological and unconscious fear and with his history I can understand that but for all his undoubted talent he is not a lot of good to the team at present even as a sub.

Hope for his sake he can sort it and we see the real deal at some point.
