First Iron player younger than you

Who was the first player to make his Iron first team debut who was younger than you? Loanees excluded. As far as I can tell and recall, mine was Neil Pointon.

First I can actually pinpoint would be Cox just a year or so younger than me or maybe Paul Nichol same year at school but a little younger

Laws was 35 when he made his debut for the Iron. Given that the rest of the team that day were younger than him, he can’t have been the first player younger than you to make his debut for the Iron.

He might be the oldest person younger than you to have played for the Iron, but that’s a different question!

Mine’s Tony Daws, whichever way you interpret the question.

…..and now I realise I’ve made the same mistake myself.

Shaun Finney made his debut before Tony Daws, and is younger than me, as is Willie Ferry, whose debut was three days after Finney’s.

Daws’ debut was two years later, so he’s the oldest person younger than me to have played for the Iron, but not the first player younger than me to play for the Iron. Finney is.

I’d completely forgotten about Finney. Even more obscure than Ferry.
