Local Norwegian guy here just laid a bet on me ..
Hes so confident England will win the WC hes offered 25 quid / 1000 bt if they dont and all i have to do if they do lift the cup is walk 1 lap of the town bar area wearing only a lime green mankini, a traffic cone hat and my old Foxhills school tie ( i was in Berkley house).
After deliberation and seeing the confirmed nasty England run in i took the bet.
June 29, 2026 at 7:47 am #322469Was he drunk or just insane? Not a chance England. Norway, be out before England.
June 29, 2026 at 5:16 pm #322478You have a lime green mankini???

July 1, 2026 at 11:52 am #322543Tuchel’s excuses and advance excuses are wearing a bit thin. Apparently England were in one of the toughest groups (er, no they weren’t) and DR Congo will be another tough match. Yes, it may well be, but didn’t ought to be. Good teams find a way against low block sides. It’s not like he didn’t know who we’d playing in the group stages and those possibles in the early KO stage so plenty of time to prepare for it. The fact that he’s taken players with dodgy fitness levels and low on flair players is all on him. Happy to be proven wrong about him but at present I’m not convinced he knows what he’s doing. State of that defence. Our sieve defence could perform better!
July 1, 2026 at 1:14 pm #322550Eng v DRC ..
Even the current rather dull England should win this but may well be closer than it should be and im going for a 1-1 draw @ 90 mins and 2-1 AET ….. IF it goes to penalties anything can happen ALA the Dutch.Regardless beating DRC is just delaying the trip home by a few days as Mexico look in excellent form after a slow start.
Fear yee not im confident my mankini is staying in the closet at least until the Christmas and New Year party season when it usually gets its time to shine.
July 1, 2026 at 3:00 pm #322559Can’t see England beating Mexico in high altitude Azteca in the Mexicans current form. One decent half from England out of six. I’m struggling to share much optimism based on what I’m seeing and the players at Tuchel’s disposal. Ignore the pundits, they’re just grifting for more work based on their ‘positivity’. Even the formerly critical Keane is at it. Following the gig money.
July 1, 2026 at 6:10 pm #322579England look good again… Not!
July 1, 2026 at 7:24 pm #322591Never in doubt!
July 1, 2026 at 7:37 pm #322593Harry is the one that saves me.
So after all.
We’re not very good at football.

July 1, 2026 at 8:07 pm #322595Reminiscent of the Slovakia game last Euros. Only our defence looks weaker now.
July 2, 2026 at 7:32 pm #322635The now crusty mankini has been washed today after its last outing the the local
“stars in your eyes ” festival where i was Freddy Mercury.Doubt it will be needed but just in case ..
July 3, 2026 at 5:41 am #322639Vive la France!
July 3, 2026 at 12:52 pm #322672That disallowed Croatia goal: Be interested to know how much contact ‘Snicko’ needs to detect before it triggers ‘contact’. If it’s someone’s hair, it clearly wasn’t real contact. Also, immediately after that the ball hit a Portugal defender’s head. Is that what triggered it? I’d be asking to see the evidence with timings of ‘contact’ on the monitor if I were Croatia because I can’t see contact with the Croatian player’s head.
July 3, 2026 at 1:09 pm #322674But, but, FIFA need a World Cup for Ronaldo, surely?
Just like the one for Messi?
Expect more of the same shenanigans.July 3, 2026 at 1:11 pm #322675This will be right up your street:

July 4, 2026 at 1:56 am #322679Game of the tournament so far. Unbelievable from Cabo Verde. To play so well and make Argentina sweat when they have a population of Sheffield. I hope the players wake up tomorrow and are proud of their performance. Drawing with Spain was something, but that will be forever remembered.

July 4, 2026 at 11:08 am #322685But if it had been England 3-2 aet Cabo Verde. We wouldn’t have been talking about how good CV were but how shit England had played.

July 4, 2026 at 12:57 pm #322686Good point NI but that’s because we’re English I guess, as for Argentina well they aren’t that great and if Messi gets injured that’s them done, mind you if and when they meet France they will get proper done IMO.

That’s because England would probably have been shite and been knocked out

July 5, 2026 at 12:52 am #322693Enjoyed the France V Paraguay game. Yes, Paraguay took it a bit too far with the dark arts and shithouesery but for the majority of the game the game plan worked. We see similar antics in the lower and non leagues. Media will vilify Paraguay’s antics but it just reinforces why ‘modern football is rubbish’. Game in the higher echelons is too sanitised IMO. Is it a contact sport or not? Game’s gone. Bring back the likes of Chopper Harris and Bites Your Legs Hunter on a field of mud.
Okay, maybe not, but you get the point. It’s a media and advertising circus. Like a bit of shithouesery is a war crime. Ridiculous.
July 5, 2026 at 5:09 am #322694Got to agree DM ..the slightest contact and players go down feigning injury at every chance really does spoil the game.
Expect similar antics in the Mexico England encounter which is a 7am KO here so i do plan to watch this one.
Prediction time .. 3 ways1. If the same disjointed England turn up as in their last two games then its 3-1 to Mexico
2. The England that played second half v Croatia might be enough and make it closer 2-2 @ 90 mins then AET can go either way though more likely Mexico as do expect expect them to have the ref on side and VAR if needed…
May well go pens .. but hope not3. A much Improved England (doubtful) i would go 3-1 win T3L
July 5, 2026 at 7:24 am #3226952-0 Mexico
July 5, 2026 at 9:14 am #322696No problem with the tactics of Paraguay it’s the standard of refereeing I am fearful of tonight after witnessing what Paraguay got away with. Glad France won and loved the way Mbappe laughed in the Paraguayans faces in response to their intimidation. If that was an acceptable FIFA refereeing performance than the game is in trouble and it is all about the money all along.
July 5, 2026 at 10:13 am #322697On another note, can you imagine pre-VAR the ridicule a referee would have received if he’d judged a player offside because his foot looked an inch ahead of a defender?
July 5, 2026 at 10:25 am #322698Joe Hart would have dragged his team off the pitch, apparently.
Meanwhile the voice of reason:
“Paraguay tried to wind up the France players, little shoves and nudges but not enough to get a yellow card,” former Scotland winger Pat Nevin told BBC Radio 5 Live.

Was about to post exactly this. How Paraguay came away from that without a single yellow card (other than for one of their coaching team) is absolutely insane. Was rooting for Paraguay to start with but ended up having zero respect for them and glad the French prevailed.
