Didn’t say they were a good side. The fact that I said they had no end product should attest to that.
June 14, 2026 at 6:52 pm #321922Germans are cynical as feck.
Any tackle goes in, they throw themselves down and the ref is buying it.June 14, 2026 at 11:39 pm #321935ITV have smashed the Beeb with their World Cup backdrop and setting. I’m more interested to see how the New Yoik traffic’s flowing behind Roy Keane as opposed to anything he’s saying. Fascinating.

June 15, 2026 at 6:07 am #321941IFA is still only watching the extended highlights due to not wishing to turn my days n nights back to front … Holland v Japan looked like a decent game , Zee Germans could go all the way but 100% will win the synchronized diving cup…oh and a smash n grab by Ivory coast in a stadium packed with Equador fans.
btw .. ITS NOT COMING HOME and im going for a draw v Croatia

June 15, 2026 at 8:50 am #321942Aye DM, ITV has an impressive set and setting there.
The Beeb usually has the best coverage but this time it’s a snooze fest like MOTD. Dull to look at, dull to listen to, only the lack of ads save it.
Pundits? Both sides should both have big squads lined up to reinforce the pre and post match. They’ve had all season to trial and prep them. On the Beeb, up front Lineker’s dry wit and cutting crit are badly missed. The girls can’t deliver on the big occasions. Rooney is unimaginative and just plays it safe, he needs a couple of clever wingmen.
On ITV Pougatch tries too hard and comes over like an estate agent. Wright needs to get stuck in more, he can entertain if he’s allowed. Same with Keane – there’s always a chance he’ll say something off-piste. Maybe they’ll line him up with Duncan disorderly after getting pre-loaded and the fancy riverside set will end up in the Hudson.June 15, 2026 at 9:46 am #321945Rooney is the biggest dullard on the planet. Shit manager too, so his inclusion is always a mystery. Stephen Warnock talks out his arse. Lineker’s too busy raking it in on his ladfest The Rest is Football podcast on Netflix.
June 15, 2026 at 9:49 am #321946Sweden look very potent, particularly with Gyokeres and Isak up front. Could be the legitimate dark horse.
June 15, 2026 at 12:28 pm #321948So there’s Girls on the punditry team at the world cup ffs! Can you watch your language, can you sit down I can’t see when your stood up. Not warranted and certainly not needed.
Rooney he’s Scouse anyway and talks with that girlie accent, a well overrated England player never turned up at any major tournament, and slagged the fans off in South Africa much the same as our Butler, “Nice to see your own fans booing you” after the Algeria 0-0 draw, if fans travel 6000 miles to watch their team, put in a performance Mr Rooney ala Butler at Gateshead.
At least Rooney apologised a day later, not as though I believed him anyway.
Good club player though and shagging grannies by all accounts.1 user thanked author for this post.
June 15, 2026 at 2:41 pm #321950…and the Awaywego brain storm gradually subsided and all on the forum was calm again.

Should they even be there? Finished last in their qualifying group without winning a single game!
June 15, 2026 at 10:38 pm #321961Didn’t know that. Looking good now though

I think it’s called a ‘brain fart’ and he definitely left a big ‘un lingering
June 16, 2026 at 9:59 am #321968What a performance by Cape Verde vs Spain yesterday…get their keeper signed up!

June 16, 2026 at 10:40 am #321969I can understand drinks breaks because of the extreme heat, what I don’t understand is why that have drinks breaks in covered air conditioned stadiums.
Is it for commercials or shadowing American football and basketball formats?
I don’t like the Yankyfication of the universal game.2 users thanked author for this post.
June 16, 2026 at 10:50 am #321970Joke in closed stadiums isn’t it. Total Yankification to split the match in to quarters so the ‘dumb asses’ can relate to it and milking the refreshments purchases. The stupid countdown to kick off chant is tiresome aswell.

June 16, 2026 at 11:01 am #321971Agree 100%…and if it is solely a “refreshments break” then refreshments should be brought onto the pitch for players, not the players going to the sideline to have a team talk etc. It just completely spoils the flow of the game.
June 16, 2026 at 11:51 am #321972When the USA was awarded the World Cup their networks asked FIFA to introduce “Quarter Time” breaks so they could sell extra advertising.
FIFA fearing a backlash from actual footballing nations surprisingly refused but suddenly we get 3 minute “Hydration Breaks” whatever the temperature. Amazing coincidence.

June 16, 2026 at 12:08 pm #321974One game we had a song still being played and the players stood waiting to start for about a minute – only because the networks were still on adverts. Fair play to ITV for not succumbing to the temptation
June 16, 2026 at 5:29 pm #321982These breaks in play are a likely first step to chucking in adverts. It’s a 3-min. pause with music. Small step away from bringing in quick ad or two …. before a longer break of 5 mins and a riot of ads for washing powder, funerals and pee pants.
June 16, 2026 at 5:47 pm #321983They’ve already begun advertising on a split screen during several sports including rugby and cricket, it’s just the moneybags mindset surrounding all sports really. Football turned into greedy bastards the day the Premier League was formed, it’s been increasing prices and fleecing fans ever since, it’s the money that’s important nowadays the football is secondary.
June 16, 2026 at 6:55 pm #321986Already running quarter time ads in the US and some other countries.
Fox have already had a very mild rap on the knuckles from FIFA for being a minute late back from a break and missing the footy.
June 17, 2026 at 10:04 pm #322045England look like Southgate 2.0.
Tippy tappy across their penalty area, ten men behind the ball, no outlet, defending a one goal lead.June 17, 2026 at 11:06 pm #322049But still run in four goals against a decent side!
June 17, 2026 at 11:26 pm #322051Refreshing to hear Anthony Barry at half time. He was spot on. I’d be interested to hear that bollocking they got.
June 18, 2026 at 12:38 am #322054England look like Southgate 2.0.
Tippy tappy across their penalty area, ten men behind the ball, no outlet, defending a one goal lead.Won 4-2 though, so an exciting game.
Much has been made of the extra teams diluting quality, but many sides have been a challenge. Cabo Verde and DR of Congo getting good results. Only South Africa, Curacao, Tunisia and Paraguay have been bad so far.
June 18, 2026 at 6:57 am #322056Second half was the way to play from England and let’s be right the Croatian keeper who was brilliant stopped it ending 7-2. That’s the England we want to see, tactics correct second half, subs were spot on and introduced to finish the job with fresh legs at the right time against a decent side who were never allowed to dominate. The gaps appearing all over the park last twenty five minutes as England ran the legs off Croatia and passed them off the park was great to see, come on England that was a great start keep it going.

June 18, 2026 at 7:43 am #322058Yep, different attitude second half.
Bit like France who never got beyond a stroll in their first half.
But if we’re going to defend deep, then hammer teams on the break, we’re going to need Kane on Bayern form.June 18, 2026 at 9:42 am #322062I don’t think Croatia were that good but England conceded two unnecessary goals

A lot better than your rampant sexism apparently
