Sweden look very potent, particularly with Gyokeres and Isak up front. Could be the legitimate dark horse.
Should they even be there? Finished last in their qualifying group without winning a single game!
Nobody mentioning British Steel returning as the front of shirt sponsor. Surely that’s something rather positive to come out of this week?
Jack Nolan from Morecambe could be the first signing
Nope, signed for Hartlepool.
Very much doubt you’d get season long loan announcements before teams have even returned back for pre-season.
Westbrooke a bigger loss than Ewing in my opinion (although he wasn’t really ours to lose). We’ve had all this before, our midfield was supposedly doomed after we lost Butterfield but things haven’t turned out too badly since he left.
I think he was a good player for us, I think for a while he changed the dynamic and brought energy that we were missing the previous season, similarly Dec Howe .He was one of our better players over all.
Pre Xmas/New Year, yes 100% agree. After that he looked like he was playing in treacle and chasing shadows. His best game for us was on the opening day of the season away at Tamworth which says a lot!
You say that but who did we actually sign last summer?
Ewing – plucked from Leicester’s youth team with his only real experience being in NLN with Buxton.
Howe – signed from 2 divisions below us.
Dawson – a crock with barely any first team football to his name.
Horton and Belehouan – nobody had heard of them and they weren’t exactly setting the world alight at Gateshead.
Rose – a great signing in hindsight but barely managed 5 games all season.
Chadwick, Eze and Watson – the less said about them the better!
None of these signings particularly got the juices flowing, the best bit of business we did was retaining Roberts for the season. He’s the one who’s going to be nigh on impossible to replace unless we manage to pull a real rabbit out of the hat with our budget. Everyone else we’ve lost so far this summer should be easily replaceable…and that includes Ewing who was chasing shadows for half of the season.

Really disappointing if true and we end up losing one of our better players to a team that finished below us last season.
They’ve both got to sign new contracts first, no confirmation that either of them have.
Calm your horses, the first two signings last summer were on the 9th June!
Censorship at it’s finest. The FB mods really are a bunch of clowns.
Don’t think there’s really any more to add that wasn’t already said on the original “ego” thread originally up on here.
Playing Beestin in his preferred advanced midfield position will be a good start, he always pops up with important goals and isn’t afraid to shoot.

It comes across as an unnecessary excuse to put the prices up. I say unnecessary because prices NEEDED to go up. In addition to all of the increases to operational costs that Westyorksiron mentions above, we also had the cheapest tickets out of any team who finished in the top 7 last season. If we’re serious about returning to the EFL then we need a bigger budget to remain competitive.

Denton’s got to sign a new contract first. I’d go Evans if he re-signs, was captain when at Chesterfield.
I’d add Garry Thompson to the names not already mentioned above. He was a massive part of our Championship survival season.

Was inevitable but still a bit of a gutter. Just look back at some of the games this past season where his individual moments of brilliance have won us the game or got us a point. There are games where we quite literally wouldn’t have created a chance if he wasn’t on the pitch.
Will be very difficult to replace and I hope it’s not with Kyle Hurst but have a feeling it will be.

Definitely a good thing. Forest Green have a hybrid pitch and it looked bloody fantastic all season.
Quite of few former Iron players in the playoffs so far this weekend. Crooks, Lundstram and Slater for Hull. Hackney for Boro. Wooton and Norwood for Stockport. McAtee for Bolton (the less said about that particular ego the better).
Don’t think Wales have much of a chance considering they didn’t qualify.
Some very strange selections, just hope Tuchel knows what he’s doing. None of the performances during qualifying were all that inspiring (except maybe the 5-0 away win in Serbia) and the most recent round of friendlies were an extremely tough watch.
Thing is it wasn’t a one-off. Apparently they”d done the same at Oxford and Ipswich.
Word is that they dressed in Eastleigh training gear to spy on Ipswich when they were using Eastleigh’s training ground. If true then that’s pretty sinister stuff and they deserve to have the book thrown at them.
Delaney was probably the only player to come away with any credit in that awful League 2 relegation season. Sign him up!

Yep, we sold Carlton to KL for an undisclosed fee.

Needs to be stripped right back, give autonomy back to the officials on the pitch and only step in for absolute clear and obvious errors (like Graham Poll giving three yellow cards to the same player without sending him off, or allowing Freddie Sears’ goal to stand that went through a hole in the net and not given). The degree to which VAR gets involved and the time taken to come to decisions is ruining the game.

I’ve got no issue with Jones, he has been decent without being spectacular…but with a full pre-season and with injuries hopefully behind him I think he could be an asset.
Campbell just isn’t good enough, even as back-up.
Is he even NLN level? Who did he go out on loan to? Bradford Park Avenue in the Northern Premier League One East. That’s probably more his level.

Only thing I would add is that it seems a bit slack for the club just to repost Mahady’s X post with no comment, no ‘thanks for your service’ or nowt. Bit of gratitude doesn’t cost anything.
Jumped the gun a bit with this, they’ve posted a thanks and farewell message for every departing player.
Think Barrows has pulled one out of the hat there in not being released. Not a very good centre half and we have three other right backs in Starbuck, Rose and JB.
Is Butler going to come out and start the whole “Campbell is my Number 1” pantomime again if he re-signs? Please, for the love of God, go and sign a decent, NL level established keeper (and no that is not Rory Watson).
