Possibly could have had 2 more names to leave.
The option on Oli is good, it means we have met the league rule regarding wage increase.
So anyone who wants him has to make an offer.3 users thanked author for this post.
May 8, 2026 at 4:17 pm #320560What has Butler got against Brogan? It just shows he can’t see a good and promising player

May 8, 2026 at 4:21 pm #320561Great news about Ewing and talking to Roberts is a positive, shame about Brogan in two seasons he’s never really figured in Butlers plans which is a shame, guess he just doesn’t fancy him in his squad.
May 8, 2026 at 4:31 pm #320562It’s a gentle evolution of last season’s squad – with, perhaps, a little bit of pain to come (Roberts and Ewing). I’d have expected a slightly more significant change if we had succeeded in the play-offs and stepped up a league.
May 8, 2026 at 4:41 pm #320563Think Barrows has pulled one out of the hat there in not being released. Not a very good centre half and we have three other right backs in Starbuck, Rose and JB.
Is Butler going to come out and start the whole “Campbell is my Number 1” pantomime again if he re-signs? Please, for the love of God, go and sign a decent, NL level established keeper (and no that is not Rory Watson).
May 8, 2026 at 6:29 pm #320566If we don’t get an experienced keeper we’ll have the same pantomime we had last season with 4 keepers each dropping clangers. I too am surprised we’ve kept barrows who isn’t great. Hopefully Campbell gets a season long loan in NLN that’s his level atm.
May 8, 2026 at 8:17 pm #320567Is he even NLN level? Who did he go out on loan to? Bradford Park Avenue in the Northern Premier League One East. That’s probably more his level.

Jones pulled off several great saves in the (very) latter part of the season – I think he’s better than is being made out. I certainly have a reasonable amount of confidence in him, which I did not have in any of the other 25 who played for the Iron this last season.

May 8, 2026 at 8:57 pm #320569Jones was as good as it got this season. Was hoping we’d start a fresh nest season. Campbell ain’t good enough.
If these two sign that means that’s one position sorted. Not happy with this tbh.
Not bothered about the ones released. Not good enough.

What???
Butler wrong?
Surely not?
😂😂😂😂May 9, 2026 at 6:08 am #320575May 9, 2026 at 11:55 am #320584I’ve got no issue with Jones, he has been decent without being spectacular…but with a full pre-season and with injuries hopefully behind him I think he could be an asset.
Campbell just isn’t good enough, even as back-up.
May 9, 2026 at 1:01 pm #320589Jones looked less nervy the more games he got but you have to question a keeper who reaches 27 having played so few games and never been a first choice anywhere.
Let’s hope he is a late bloomer.Agree regarding Campbell, never seen a performance from him that suggests he is professional level. Would love to be proved wrong but goalkeeper is not the position to save a few quid on.
May 9, 2026 at 1:42 pm #320592Butler tried proving fans wrong last year with him but failed, after 5 league games he conveniently got injured and was never seen again.
Wasn’t even recalled to play in Butler’s 75% effort teams to see if he’d progressed.
Now he didn’t need to offer him a renewed contract, can anyone understand why he did. I just don’t get it myself.May 9, 2026 at 5:53 pm #320599Because he’s never wrong?
May 9, 2026 at 7:02 pm #320604Tantrums ahead for anyone having the temerity to question said decision.

May 10, 2026 at 5:01 pm #320617How do we have an option on a loan player,is it to buy ?
May 10, 2026 at 5:04 pm #320618Who?
Can’t see any options on loanees.
Just Horton and Ewing.May 10, 2026 at 5:05 pm #320619How do we have an option on a loan player,is it to buy ?
You’ll have to tell us who you’re talking about.
May 10, 2026 at 5:09 pm #320620He is maybe thinking of Westbrooke because we have suppposed to have been talking to him
May 10, 2026 at 5:12 pm #320621Horton and Ewing are loans are they not? It’s in the list under “OPTIONS”
Not sure how much obvious it can beMay 10, 2026 at 5:18 pm #320622Horton and Ewing are loans are they not? It’s in the list under “OPTIONS”
Not sure how much obvious it can beHorton and Ewing signed contracts last summer for a year with an option for the club to retain their services for another season, that option has been taken up by the club meaning they are still Scunthorpe United players for next season and if other clubs want to sign them we can demand a fee. I hope they both stay but money talks.

May 10, 2026 at 5:30 pm #320628I am always right, I might go see me doctor about this .
Bloody good business to sign Ewing .
I guess it proves I’ve been doing my utmost to have my football intake nearly all at games I watch ,it’s more enjoyable I’ve found. Like turning back the clockMay 10, 2026 at 6:05 pm #320632Been standing too close to the drum?
