Just when some were thinking we didn’t need him Carlton comes on and bags two game saving goals and could well have come off the pitch with the match ball.
Maybe we need to hang onto him for a tad longer.

Some nice passing but some wayward stuff too. Okay a bit of an experimental lineup and the U21 lads are pretty quick but still sloppy at times.
However we never really looked like conceding and Carlton at LWB/LB was a revelation.
Always good to beat the Toon though, no matter what the competition.

Butler is between a rock and a hard place here.
Players like Beck and Carlton look like NLN/S is their level but you can’t blame AB for showing some faith in the promotion squad.
It was always going to be the case that once injuries and suspensions kicked in that the second string players needed to step up.
Doesn’t seem to be happening at the moment.
