Arriving much faster than even I envisioned.
In the USA.

It was this current board that sacked Jimmy after achieving 2nd place have you forgot.
Not quite!
Dean was dismissed after losing the playoffs.
Butler was retained after winning them.
Well thus far Butler has led us to 23 league victories this season. 50% win ratio. We’ve lost 9 and drawn 12.
Yesterday we effectively relegated the club that won the NLN last year. They have lost 23 drawn 12 and won just 9. So quite a nice symmetry there.
Doing more right than wrong it would seem.
Witnessed my second Scunny defeat in a week as I’ve been to watch the egg-chasers lose 44-19 to my lad’s old club Tynedale.
I’ll take a less than convincing 1-0 win after that debacle at the Heed last Monday. Must show some sort of character?
Don’t be so negative I-A!
We’re short on CBs. Evans has been out for a while, Boyce looks like he could be. Barrows will have to sit out the final league games. Belhouan and Horton FB’s filling in at CB. Defence has looked shakey for a while now. We look vulnerable from corners and Nicholson’s long throws yesterday had us in panic mode.
Apart from that!

The thing about giving bench warmers game time is that it’s fine as long as they play as a team. Yesterday’s starting XI played like they’d just met. There has to be some sort of formation or tactic.
And when the substitutions are made they need to be to change the game for the better. Not to give Pat Jones game time by bringing him on at RWB when we were crying out for a wide left attacker!
Oh, and yesterday showed Butler why he should have kept Nicholson at the club.
Three generations of Northumbiron in attendance today. Luckily for new grandson he slept through most of it.
Totally selfish on my point but this was the only game we could get to as a family this season, so to say it was a disappointing afternoon is an understatement.
Okay shuffle the pack a bit, but even though we’re guaranteed a playoff spot there’s still work to do. Carlisle, Forest Green and Boreham Wood all dropped points today, so another away win would have put us in a really good position to get that third or fourth place.
So from a personal point of view this wasn’t a day to experiment. No real tactics on display, anonymous performances, poor passing, sloppy defending, no real attempts on goal until we were 2-0 down.
Away support magnificent once again. Deserved better.
Yeah a bloody awful afternoon, but that’s Gateshead International Stadium for you!

Only just realised Smith was playing! Pat Jones on for him please Andy.
Where’s VAR when you need it?
He’s playing the second half first by the looks of it! 🤔
Playoffs guaranteed!
Well after tonight’s results we only need a point from Friday’s game to guarantee a playoff spot.

Credit to Butler! he doesn’t even know how the playoffs work.
You win games. That’s about it!

It would seem that you have far too much time on your hands already!
Not a patch on Mike Basset fighting with Scunny Bunny!
March 27, 2026 at 1:09 pm in reply to: Howe Can We Not Integrate A Proven Goalscorer In To Our Team? #318424Now we’ve got him back ffs play him
Start him up front, central… he’ll have a point to prove.
With Roberts right and Jones left?
Sounds great if we play the ball quickly to feet or into the space. But of late we’ve been punting it aimlessly upfield from the back.

Losing at the Heed on Easter Monday doesn’t bear thinking about!

If that penalty had been given against us, we’d be fuming!
New defence or new playing surface?
Can’t have both can we?

Mankind really screwed up the day religion was invented.

John Eyre v Brighton circa 1999.
If we could “attract” Ross Fitzsimons when we were a NL(N) club then surely we can get similar or better as a top six NL outfit?

Looking at the table we’re going to finish somewhere between 3rd and 8th. So assuming we make the playoffs we’re going to have to play better than the feet and head version of beach volleyball that we seem so fond of lately.
To be fair Barrows has come on at CB in the last two games and we haven’t conceded whilst he’s been on the pitch.

When our local Rugby Union club, Tynedale were in National League 1 they had to travel to Jersey. A round trip of over 1,000 miles!
But yes, safe journey to those who are travelling.

March 16, 2026 at 10:04 am in reply to: Abibliophobia On The Pros & Cons Of Promotion – Do You Want Promotion? #317585If it is York and Rochdale that go up then Carlisle with their 10,000 gates and huge catchment area will stay down.
Or
Boreham Wood with their sub 1,000 gates could win the playoffs.
Funny old game!
