Is it on the cards this season?
I’ll take a punt that we’ll finish 10th to 14th
Any thoughts.
A five place band for predictions.July 3, 2026 at 7:42 am #322655Top half. Just.

July 3, 2026 at 7:53 am #322656Mid table, not good enough to compete at the top (with the current squad) just a bit too much to go down.
We’re only a few injuries away from really struggling though.

July 3, 2026 at 7:54 am #322657July 3, 2026 at 8:00 am #322658i have previously predicted that we wont be good enough to be top 7 and during the course of the whole season will flirt with both the play off places and relegation spots so finishing anywhere 8th the 21st … im gonna go for lower mid so 17th
July 3, 2026 at 11:23 am #322663Weren’t we all predicting a lower mid-table finish for last season?

July 3, 2026 at 11:37 am #322667I forecast 17 th last year with 60 points, nowhere near. I think the squad is stronger, but whether or not we can challenge for promotion depend s on two thing. Firstly, stop conceding sloppy goals, particularly in the last 10 mins of games. Secondly, compensate for the lack of Cal Robert’s goals. To do this, we must play with 2 up top, and the rest of the team must contribute with goals from center backs and central midfield. If we can meet both these targets, challenging is again within our grasp. Fail on one and we will be mid table. Fail on both and we will be in the bottom 7!
July 3, 2026 at 11:59 am #322670Not having WG’s incredible memory of other teams players capabilities I’m going to reserve judgement until we have played a few games.
How well the new lads perform in an Iron shirt and how well Smith and Hurst deliver on past promise will make the difference between playoff push and flirting with the bottom 4.
We understandably won’t be challenging for automatic promotion given once again there will be half a dozen clubs with significantly bigger budgets and 1 or 2 of them will have spent wisely.
Neither do I think we are relegation fodder even if most of the new lads disappoint. Will save my prediction until end August/early September. Need to be sure he who is always right isn’t having another flirtation with 5 at the back.

July 3, 2026 at 4:54 pm #322678It’s hard to judge at this stage, there are a few decent signings so far, but the key is how will they all gel. My best guess is that we’ll be in play-off contention all season, and likely finish in 6th or 7th place.
