As I believe Ogle played for Oldham on the right side of three man CB formation, might this mean we plan to operate a 5-3-2 set up? I woke up in a cold sweat after this thought came to me in a nightmare.
June 24, 2026 at 12:12 pm #322276most of our defenders can play in other positions, and Andy should know by now what works and what doesn’t, so I think we should worry about that in August instead of getting ahead of ourselves, SI
June 24, 2026 at 12:45 pm #322277My tongue was partially lodged in my cheek, Mick. Just a talking point. I’ll try not lose too much sleep in the meantime.

Stick to what works for us. 433 or 442 – get the system down pat so whoever subs has no problems settling in. Make opponents have to cope with us.
Start every game wanting to win it. Any silly formations will mean nothing has been learned.
June 24, 2026 at 8:02 pm #322283I’m sure he wants to win every game, but and it’s a big but, you need to put a team more than capable of achieving it, something he’s failed to do on many occasions.

July 3, 2026 at 11:54 am #322668Not a bad start is it NI? I’ve said before that two 30+ CBs wouldn’t be ideal for me and, I think, in that formation Butler would go Brennan before Howe.
July 3, 2026 at 11:55 am #322669Neither Butterfield or Barrows have the legs for a full game for me. Butterfield off the bench may be a very good option. Barrows, laying out the kit and warming up the defenders also a good option, but not from the bench. The conundrum really is 2 or 3 in midfield. 5 at the back looks nailed on to me, unless whoever plays wide is capable of dropping back and defending, and then AB might risk 4 for a half at home.
July 3, 2026 at 12:40 pm #322671He gave Pat Jones a go at RWB last season, I hope he doesn’t see that as a realistic option. What a waste!.

Hold hard there, young man! Are you suggesting we’re not signing a world class keeper before the season starts? There’ll be some filthy pants and public meltdowns from certain quarters if we don’t sign a Raya level no.1
