Will only make sense to old farts who remember the tv advert for Wonderloaf….

    “Oh Terry Heath, is wonderful,
    Oh Terry Heath is wonderful.
    Full of health,
    Full of life,
    Full of vigour.
    Terry Heath is won-der-ful”!

I think they’ll be wrapping Rose up in cotton wool. So Ogle at RB for me.

Butterfield won’t do many 90 minute games either so he’ll be interchangeable with someone like Smith or Richards.

Would like to see Dec given game time as he is a goal scorer.

If we stay injury free I can see some possible out going loans. Hope he’s not one of them.

Looks like losing a pre season friendly to a club from a lower division was all too much for steady Eddie at the Toon.

Now he’s going to miss out on the KK love-in with Liverpool.

I’ve always been supportive of The Trust but I do think they’ve made a huge mistake with this.

Two emails in the past week. One directing me to the GFM page and a second telling me that after discussion with the club it was definitely happening. Neither invited me to offer my opinion although they have promised to share further details in due course.

They email me every month inviting me to vote for my POTM so I would have thought it would have been fairly straightforward to get my views on this issue.

Steve Askew’s article was well thought out and now that the dust has settled I’m sure that many more of our supporters are thinking along similar lines.

I do like the Blue Plaque idea, though where best to locate it could spark another heated debate.

Never did a proper days hard graft!

    Not having that!

I used to see him every morning when I was cycling to JL VI Form Col along Ashby Road. I think he was in digs somewhere off Rochdale Road and he would jog to the OSG where he would then run up and down the steps of the cantilever stand until the rest of the team turned up.

He trained harder and longer than anyone else so to say he never did a day’s hard graft is doing him a disservice.

No one was asking who the scorers were we beat Leeds U21s 4-2 or when we narrowly lost to Barnsley 3-2 with a squad of 13!

Trialist CF got a brace v Leeds. Kameran Ali?

BTW The OWS is a joke! It had Dawson, Ewing and Brogan in tonight’s starting XI.

As I said on the other thread less than 10 points and the knives will be out for Butler.

Can’t see us matching our 2.2 ppg from last year but if we can kick off with a home win against Yeovil then beat Eastleigh, Solihull and either Boreham Wood or Harrogate. Don’t see us coming away from Carlisle or Southend with owt but Hornchurch should yield something surely?

I’ll stick my neck out and say 15 to 18 pts and 8th to 10th in the table.

By the end of September we’ll have played Carlisle, Southend, Harrogate, Barrow and Hartlepool amongst our opening ten games.

That will be a definite yardstick.

15 to 20 points and I’d say we’re in for a similar season to last year. Less than 15 may indicate mid table mediocrity. Less than 10 and the knives will be out.

Certainly can’t afford to drop back down into NLN.

I too am a member of the Trust and have made donations with the sole aim of the Trust being a partial owner of the club. Not for statues.

Please correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t this a “go fund me” appeal? If it is then no Iron Trust funds will be used to pay for any memorial to KK. It would be a separate pot of money.

As always the Trust are damned if they do or damned if they don’t.

I reckon most of the “regular” posters on here can recite “Barnard, Foxton, Barker, Deere, Welbourne, Atkin, Kerr, Keegan, Cassidy, Heath, Davidson” (or similar).

Keegan was just one of that band of brothers who, although they never won a trophy, are fondly remembered. However, he was the one who went on to great things. So in many respects it’s about what he did after he left the Iron rather than what he achieved whilst he was here.

I would agree, Terry Heath, Nigel Cassidy and probably Steve Deere were probably ahead of KK in the movers and shakers of that team.

Was he an England legend who played for Scunthorpe, or a Scunthorpe legend who played for Liverpool, Hamburg, Newcastle and captained England?

Would think that from this Leeds game on Saturday we will hear and see the proper starting XI being revealed.

Not by Leeds it won’t. They’re playing Wrexham in Tampa, Florida on Saturday!

Yes, I try to miss out Liverpool when I’m travelling down the west side of the country.

I share the nagging doubts. We don’t want something as hideous as the Whacko Jacko one outside Fulham or the CR7 statue in Funchal. One of the best I’ve seen is the Hughie McIlmoyle one in Carlisle. But it won’t come cheap.

In the past we had stadium and stand naming, but now that everything has to have a sponsor’s name on it I can’t see that happening.

“The Kevin Keegan Stand, sponsored by Mortz” doesn’t really show the respect it should.
