Have agreed, the full on Verruca Salt mentality has led to consumer madness.
In my younger days I ordered by post or telephone, for things I couldn’t get in Scunthorpe.
I expected to wait 7-10 days, and was happy with that. Now, if it doesn’t offer at least 48 hour delivery, many people won’t order.
But do we NEED all those out-of- season fruits?
We never used to.
And the rest of Europe seemingly doesn’t.
So how has someone created the need to eat strawberries, peaches, melons etc in the depths of winter???July 16, 2026 at 5:37 pm #323166Delia Smith and Nigella Lawson!

July 16, 2026 at 6:43 pm #323168Once again alcy it’s about moving on, nothing stands still and that includes new recipes, dishes and the desire for wanting something that used to be out of reach in a winter. The market said “ we can now get you this all year round “ and the consumer replied “ yes please “.
July 16, 2026 at 7:00 pm #323169Overall, I think that’s a good thing. More choice the better for me.
July 17, 2026 at 12:35 pm #323183The use of terms like ‘props’ and ‘adorbs’, which seems to be an appropriation of response options offered to lazy / unoriginal social media platform users.

Spend an age banging against a glass door to go out, only to change their minds and fly further into the room when you open the door.July 19, 2026 at 2:03 pm #323233Overuse of acronyms,I seem to spend my life trying to figure out what the latest acronym we have in planning events. For instance when planning for England’s Victory parade 2 years ago ,it didn’t happen, I attended a “Table top” with LAS,MPS ,LFB, SAG etc,It’s a whole new language designed to make the uninitiated feel inferior. After several years of such meetings I’m now one of the bullies.I hate myself for it,

July 19, 2026 at 6:30 pm #323235Motor cyclists who sit at junctions, traffic lights, etc, endlessly revving their engines.
“Look at me! Look at me! Somebody, please, look at me!!”July 19, 2026 at 6:42 pm #323236Over exaggerators you know the type .I might say “I’m hungry” the response from someone I know will be “Yeah I’m starving. Similarly for “I m a bit cold,” ,” yeah I’m freezing” the other one such as “hammering down” when it’s a slight drizzle.

July 19, 2026 at 6:45 pm #323237I know language has evolved but “Spitting feathers” always used to mean thirsty.People now use it instead of spitting bullets(angry) all the time.l

Yep…like using “sick” to mean “very good”.
July 20, 2026 at 9:00 am #323242Clothing with stiff spiky labels sewn in at the collar, or the waistline, to make the base of your neck, or spine, itch.

Some of the worst I’ve come across is Ralph Lauren Polo Sport polo shirts.
Was gifted one or two for my birthday a couple of years ago, had to buy a “Quick Unpick” to remove the labels.
Also, why an absolute sheaf of wash labels sewn in on the left side?
They use symbols so should only need one.July 20, 2026 at 4:57 pm #323269I can imagine. I posted in jest. Maybe cheap shit is better regarding this problem?

July 23, 2026 at 10:09 am #323340Having to ask for a coffee ending in O with a dash of milk just to get a white coffee. Beans in tiny bowls on my breakfast
July 23, 2026 at 11:57 am #323364Agree about the beans in pots accompanying your full English, they should be spooned onto the plate in a reasonably sized amount. Also two eggs on a full English plus you can keep the sausages I’ll have an extra couple of rashers of bacon , mmmm heaven.

Paracetamol that you can’t “push through” the foil without destroying the capsule, ending up with a load of powder and a busted capsule.July 25, 2026 at 6:58 pm #323472Email ” receipts” in shops

Make purchase in shop.
Sales assistant: “can I have your email address?”
Me: “No!”
August 3, 2026 at 4:28 pm #323944Bad, cliched whimsical poetry that props up in local newspapers and the like. They are often connected to misplaced nostalgia about the ‘good old days’. Case in point:

August 3, 2026 at 5:26 pm #323946Read some cringe worthy efforts in the Evening Telewag when it was on the go.
They all seemed to copy the meter of “The boy stood on the burning deck..”
Or be utterly daft blank verse. -
