We’re electric,it’s changed a few things,we fuel every day now , overnight.Done 2 longish trips. One to London and one to Gateshead did stop on the Gateshead trip for a top up but could have done the trip in one if I wanted too but 15 minutes was All I did with a cuppa .London wasn’t possible without a refuel unlike my frugal little works van which would cost around £60 in diesel for the round trip. Although I suspect had I been able to afford a 400hp 4wheel drive petrol car that does 0-60 in 4.2 seconds it would have cost over £100 in fuel not the £35 including the fill up at home this trip cost in our electric car of such power .It’s costs under a couple of quid a day for my wife’s 60(30 miles each way) commute
I find the journey planning less annoying that some claim they would find it.Most day trippers stop off on a trip as far as London anyway and there’s always superchargers , albeit expensive it’s easy and accurate to get the correct amount for the the journey.I don’t “fill up ” like I used to until I get home now.
As for Driver enjoyment I find ours exhilarating

    Hmm!

Mrs NI bought a Yaris Hybrid because she wanted something reliable after her old convertible kept failing to start.

Had it a couple of months, drove across to a friend’s house. Couple of hours later got in to find it wouldn’t start. After an hour and a half waiting for the AA the guy arrived and said that it was a common problem because the batteries they fit on the production line were cheap crap. Got it started and told her to drive straight home and contact the dealership. They said “okay our mobile unit will be with you in the morning”. Mobile Unit duly arrived the next day. Put a better quality battery in and took the original one away.

Yep! Toyota have a dedicated mobile unit that just travels the Northeast replacing the factory fitted crap with ones fit for purpose!

Aye, there’s a lot of nonsense talked about so-called range anxiety, mostly driven by the motoring press who depend on the trade to advertise with them. A lot of their business will disappear as electric becomes more established.

Not gone electric yet but maybe this year. It makes so much sense. Agreed about the fun of gears, the roar of the twin Webers and so on, but too many moving parts and consequent wear n tear, unless you do your own maintenance and enjoy it. But fine for a second car if you have the space and money.

Plus, we’re mostly stuck in traffic these days, when an auto box is so much easier. Tesla, anyone?

    Electric?
    Hmmmmmm…. 😉
I think it just might start to fail as an ideology once people start having to replace the main batteries.
    £10-18k anyone?
That’s a hell of a service cost for anyone.

I know a few (mostly older gentlemen admittedly) who hate them. Guess it’s a generational technology thing.

Electric? Good for the planet? Well, yes. Until you see pictures of a lithium mine!

Nah look alcy, the battery life on a tesla is estimated at 300-500k it will outlast the car. Now, if you were running a coal-fired car, how long before the engine etc. wears out? 150k maybe? Perhaps less. Then what? Do you get a new engine and everything else? What does that cost?
Battery slowly degrading? Well, so does the performance on a modern car. It loses horsepower and uses more mpg with age.
So the cost of a battery is never likely to be an issue really.
Fancy a Tesla? No? Hate Musk?
But how many other loathsome company chairman are there? North Face guy was sent to prison recently for some pretty nasty crimes. Has anyone stopped buying their anoraks?
Lots of company chairmen have dreadful politics and a dark side, it’s often how they got there.

‘Sorry got some digital glitches here…. get rid of that smiley somebody!’

I got rid of it but I can’t be arsed and don’t have time to delete the coding in a post everytime someone quotes a post with an emoji in it, creating a monster sized one, much longer. It would be far easier if people refrained from using them full stop or stopped quoting posts with them in. Thanks.

No one knowingly does it I don’t think. It’s just when you click ‘quote’ and the emoji in the original post is pasted in, humongously large.

Even more so when someone writes a song about them and keeps repeating the word umbrella ad nauseum.

” disgusting” what an overused word. People with quite horrendous attitudes lose their minds when someone doesn’t sing the national anthem and won’t wave a flag
