Nice start to the season with a confidence boosting win.

It won’t be an easy season but think we’d all be happy with mid-table and above.

Not very imaginative or inspiring is it.

Anyway that’s the GK positions sorted for the season.

Hopefully Will and Co. Can protect these guys like they helped Fitz to keep the number of clean sheets he managed.

    Unfortunately Keepers are the scapegoats.
It’s a massive confidence position as one mistake can mean you lose a match. Nobody ever remembers the one or two fine saves to keep you in a game.
I was chatting to Paul Robinson a few years back. One bad back pass from Gary Neville which took an awful kick up off the turf and he was made the villain.

An outfield player makes a mistake and it’s all forgotten about within seconds.

Nobody has experience anymore in many workplaces because they don’t get the chance to show their worth.

It’s not just the keeper that is solely responsible for clean sheets.

He’s had a pretty decent defence in front of him.
I was too upset losing Fitz, But we need a #1 to come in. Campbell ain’t the answer.

Hopefully AB was ribbing us on the GK front. To go from one of the better GK’s in the lower leagues to then place a rookie in goal is a risk.
Campbell won’t be facing hard opposition in the friendlies that’s for sure.

In Butler we trust. Top half finish with a rookie in goal we’d be happy.

Think this position needs addressing asap.

I’m surprised we are offering/negotiating so many from the other era even though we gained promotion!!

Some stated Butlers hands were tied with poor players. And tbh are they good enough for the step up?

    Evans has been my stand-out.
Clunan maybe not everyone’s Cup of tea but he does put some effort in and seems to get the boys going. Just need a meaty tackler with him that we have stated numerous times.
Fitz he’s okay but won’t be too disheartened if he goes, theres better to be had.
If we can keep Cal Roberts, Whitehall and Carlton that would be decent enough still to get us mid table in NL I’d of thought.
I like Beestin, he gives his all and was absolutely shot yesterday. Keep
Keep Denton,Maxi and Rowley. Sign Mo as he’s a rough diamond if York want rid.
    Beck we are stuck with.
Are Burrows and Kelly good enough for the next step?

Let go of Fish,Boyce,Law and Shrimpton

Well done to the all at SUFC.

Chester didn’t look great in it first half but very different second half.
Daft penalty by Evans to concede but he was immense today bar that.

    What was the attendance btw?

Nah it’s rubbish and very amateurish. You set a time to release tickets you either stick to it or if you have to move the goalposts (again!) at least do it so that it gives people a chance to see when they’re being moved to.

The only way you knew they’d be released last night at “around 10:30pm” was if you were still up at 10pm and watching their social media feed like a hawk!

    Totally agree.

If you state 14:00 on Saturday Wave 1 then stick to it, Not 06:00 Saturday morning as I found out at 10:00. Too late
The changes have been numerous and like you state you either go through the statement of 7th April and proof read it several times a day or watch for updates on Social media like a Hawk 24/7.
Don’t do X,FB etc but fortunately picked up on it.

It’s the older folk that potentially not knowing to the above.

This whole situation has been caused by allowing season ticket holders to purchase 4 tickets each, which was a stupid and unnecessary decision.

If I’d have known it was a free for all on season tickets I would have asked several folk whom I know, Just thought I’ll be patient get mine easily on Saturday afternoon at 14:00 what a mistake this was.

Sorry about that RB the offer was there for anyone on here to get a ticket.

    Cheers Away.
I’ve got enough loyalty points to buy online today as it was stated on the OWS that as of 14:00 I could purchase.
Only found out at 10 am the goalposts had been changed to 6am online.

All sold in that wave so got to wait for next. But as they keep changing the goalposts how are we supposed to know when.
My mate whom is a season ticket holder stated he could only buy 1 ticket the other day so where is the 4 coming from?

Nice to see both clubs trying to be as fair as possible when they can.

I agree with this. In the past people have complained about free-for-alls, and yet now there are elements seeming to be calling for a free-for-all as structured sales windows “aren’t fair”… Grow up!

Where’s the Aren’t fair brigade? Maybe on FB etc I guess.

Now that the club have since reworded the ticket statement it makes it easier for some that struggle to get to games, whether it’s through living locations or commitments.

So if you’ve Nill points you can’t buy a ticket till the 17th?

Obviously others can purchase for yourself BLT

How many have Chester been given? Away end only or corner too?

We will miss him that’s for sure. Think he was involved in 2 if not 3 of the goals on Saturday.
    Just watched Kiddy v Chester.
Chester look a decent side as I’ve not seen them this season even though we beat them I think in 2 weeks time it will be a completely different game.
They move the ball well and break fast.

    More of a Tinmine!
Let’s not get too carried away with yesterday as the meat and gravy is next week.

Played well in parts yesterday. Went pretty narrow when Roberts got crocked which wasn’t so good.

Si Mennel ran hallgate tavern in Cott. His parents ran punch bowl at one point and Sutton fields if memory serves me correctly.
They had a Rottweiler called Boss he’d carry 100’s of pounds of coins in a bag in his mush.

Loved my life living in Walkington and life in ULl :0)

Can say with some confidence that we’d have won the league if he wasn’t injured.

    Led the like superbly, again

Totally agree would have been done and dusted if he’d been fit

Skip was a gent. When we were playing together he ran the Grafton.

Paul Heaton played to next to Skip too. It was a dream.
Paul Warhurst Aka Sharkie, Si Mennel and Bri Thurston ex GB baseball pitcher. His Mother ran Piper?
    Remember?
    They were my good friends.
They always smiled that I was the only Scunny Supporter in the team.

Yes well done City. Having spent my earlier days living across the water and playing football at NFU I’m glad you boys weren’t going down.
A win for the Iron and GY not making the play offs is a sweet taste

Remember Peter Skipper? He was our centre back at semi pro level. RIP Peter
