Three year deal. I assume we wouldn’t match that. I had resigned myself to Roberts and Ewing going, but thought would sign Westbrooke.

May 28, 2026 at 5:49 pm #321223a bit surprising but the lure of a 3 year deal possibly swung it .. Yeovil do have big budget so obviously can offer decent wages.
So when Ewing jumps ship its safe to say the midfield is looking a bit thin ..May 28, 2026 at 5:55 pm #321224I’ll return to a previous theme. While I am grateful for what the current ownership has done, and continues do, for us, the model won’t enable us to get back to the EFL. It points to play offs being an overachievement this year. I would be amazed if we repeat it next season.

May 28, 2026 at 6:19 pm #321228The old chestnut the current board have done a marvellous job in turning the club round and this new pitch funded by an efl grant is a master stroke but they ain’t got any serious money between them and that is a big problem in driving our club forward IMO.

Totally agree, we need some fresh/large investment to get us back in the league.
Re Westbrooke I’m not too bothered. He was for sure an upgrade on Clunan but still a sideways passer of the ball.
May 28, 2026 at 7:07 pm #321234And there was me thinking I was the only one who wants an owner to throw money at the club and bugger the consequences.
What harm as it done Crystal palace and others for that matter admin twice for them, Macclesfield, Bury.
Bugger ya sustainability.1 user thanked author for this post.
May 28, 2026 at 7:10 pm #321235It’s an interesting one. Would it be better to be a big fish in the small pond than craving the extra investment to seek League Two football?
Re Westbrooke – a three year deal at this level for a soon to be 30 year old in the National League is a fantastic deal for him (possibly not Yeovil considering his historical injury record)
He was a solid 7/10 most weeks, lots of energy and pretty two footed. I liked him overall, worked well as a two with Rowley shielding the defence.
I wonder if we offered him a contract…anyway I am looking forward to seeing who we can bring in to the midfield. Hopefully a tall rangy monster!
May 28, 2026 at 7:23 pm #321236Some of us will keep going at whatever we play and regardless of the quality of the football. My worry is that once reality dawns and we are, say, mid-table NL, the average gate drops to 3000. That makes sustainability even harder. Personally, I won’t be satisfied until we are back in the EFL. If that takes one year or five, I can live with that if we can see a clear plan. I’m not sure we have that at the moment and we are still in rescue mode.

May 28, 2026 at 7:48 pm #321239Yeovil have a bigger budget than us?
How come?May 28, 2026 at 7:52 pm #321240The plan they have isn’t working, they want the ground to bring money in 7 days a week, it’s never going to happen and they’ve got to get over it.
Where’s the plans for the strip of land next to the Costa, all this time and zilch from them, the club needs restructuring Hilton started but it as not being took forward, shop and offices open 5 days a week ffs we’ve being non league now for 5 seasons we can’t afford it.1 user thanked author for this post.
May 28, 2026 at 10:08 pm #321244I’m guessing the majority of of ticket sales including season tickets are now done online, that surely means the ticket office could remain shut an extra day a week, not sure about shop sales, people still like trying stuff on even a footy shirt before they buy.
May 28, 2026 at 10:30 pm #321245When you say Hilton started restructuring did this start with the land near Wickes that was never purchased or the complete embargo on paying any staff their wages?
Westbrooke is a loss but I’ll get over it quickly if we get a midfielder in who can contribute some goals.May 29, 2026 at 3:51 am #321246I’ll return to a previous theme. Yep agree … before last season i had a feeling we would do ok and survive in NL in the end we over achieved and reached the play offs which was a fantastic effort… one year on and im feeling less confident and my trepidation level is increasing as our squad falls apart.
Can Butler locate the right players and build a team on a low budget remains to be seen either way could well be ALSO RANS so mid/lower table may be as good as its gonna get in 26/27.Roberts stayed fit more or less all season take away his goals assists and the times he won or saved games for us and its a huge hole to fill and players capable of filling it are hard to find and cost a pretty penny.
I really thought we would sign Westbrooke bit of a bummer hes gone to Yeovil obviously all down to contract length and salary.

May 29, 2026 at 4:02 am #321248to add
new pitch fantastic.
we should all be for ever thankful to the current owners for stepping in in our hour of need and what they have done since however its obvious they have taken the club forward as far as they can and its time for new investment regardless if its joining Michelle n Co or taking over buying the club outright as without either happening it may well be NL for many a long year.
Also agree if 26/27 turns unfolds lower than fans expectations gates will surely drop making things even harderMay 29, 2026 at 5:37 am #321252I’d be happy with Rowley and another “whoever he turns out to be” with Beestin as the more attacking option. I liked Rowley, Westbrooke and ewing last season in CM, but thought it was a little too conservative overall. I always thought we looked more effective with Beestin in there due to Westbrooke and Rowley being very similar to one another.

May 29, 2026 at 7:33 am #321254I thought Ewing’s contract for next season was done and dusted.
May 29, 2026 at 9:53 am #321259Yes, we over achieved, and next season may not be as good. However, the big problem is that it is a massive risk taking on new investors/owners. To say our record at doing that is poor is a huge understatement!!
I don’t think that I could go through it a third time 🫣🫣🫣

Have a listen to AB’s end of season interview on the OWS les, there’s some sort of explanation in there.
May 29, 2026 at 10:45 am #321266We need more goals from our midfielders and centre halves chipping in. Westbrooke didn’t add anything to that but he could move the ball around well most the time.

I thought they’d took up an extension option so it’s up to another club to make a decent offer if they want him?
May 29, 2026 at 3:59 pm #321281Agree with wondergoals (yeah, I know. These things happen sometimes). Rowley and Westbrooke were both similar players.
Would rather we sign someone a bit more attack minded.
Westbrooke was never our player anyway so que sera, sera!
