I see it was a County Cup final, so a bit more than renting out to all comers.
Anyone else find it weird they had a local league final there before the season end recently?
Thought they always tended to wait until season end to offer it up?
It’s certainly at least the second time it has been advertised. I really don’t understand why we don’t specify a salary range or pay rate for our backroom roles. We don’t even specify a rate for bar staff.
I wonder what preparations are being made for the pitch in the close season? Weren’t different levels of work contingent on how much funding was raised through the Unity/PD and club crowdfunders?
On the use of the pitch for a Sunday league final, it does seem odd to do it before the end of the season.
Sadly, it’s beyond the wit of some to understand that you can disagree without resorting to abuse. As others have pointed out, this is one of the reasons why this forum survives and prospers.

I am away at the money so only caught the last 25 minutes on DAZN. Were we that lacklustre for the previous 65 minutes? Play off run will be a short one based on recent performances. I think we have only won one game by more than one goal since 20 January.
There may be more. Also, there may not.
Doesn’t look good on the face of it.
But I feel there may be more to this than simply an OAP getting banned.

I’ve come to the conclusion that he’s best ignored.
Surely the loans are in addition to the initial investment to secure shares?
Hopefully, the questions that arise from this can be addressed at the forthcoming (date tbc) shareholders’ meeting. Is a move to sustainability realistic with this model while maintaining on field momentum? I never expected promotion this season, but will we better placed next to push on? Probably not. If we hit the jackpot and get promoted this year, that brings into play other revenue streams. There will also, though, be pressures and expectations in terms of investment.
I think we are all grateful for what the owners have done for the club to date and pleased with on field achievements. The need for a longer term plan is all too apparent.

Once again, a very helpful, clear and insightful analysis. Thank you. To me, it suggests that the more transparency from clubs on finance matters, the better. If you outline plans and challenges associated with decisions, the more likely you are to take fans with you. Better still, involve them in those decisions.

I suspect a Forensic Linguist would make very light work of identifying the author. Or, let’s be honest, anyone with a triple digit IQ.
The people on here will never get along with most people because they are old dont like change

Sorry stateA couple of questions for you?
-what are the characteristics that are common to “us lot”?
-when you say “you have no balls,” what do you mean?As others have put far better than me, this forum does not comprise a homogenous group of people and opinion. There is a diversity of views, there are disagreements, and there is sometimes nuance (look it up). This Bru as bogeyman really doesn’t fly, but I guess is serves the ends of some while helping the time pass for someone trying to stay on the straight and narrow.
In my opinion you lot like to give it out first time someone gives you it back. You have no balls like it or not
Ps
What the guy is saying is true

Very helpful analysis. So, it points to the need to get additional investors?

What you have there is a hypothesis. This may or may not be based on lazy stereotyping. There’s some guidance on how you might test it at the link. Good luck!

a fair amount of football supporters want drumming in stadiums gone.
Can we have this broken down into two groups please? Those that are eligible for their free bus pass and those who aren’t. Just a hunch but I have a feeling it would be heavily skewed in one groups favour!
This was your first post. It doesn’t seem to be the best opener if you were really seeking rational discussion.
Some of these comments are hilarious.
You all look like clowns. Just hate speech and jealousy.
I have no inclination to clarify any of your misinformation.
The unity group will be at the hut as usual on friday . Uti4 users thanked author for this post.
Agreed!
You may be better served disassociating yourselves (the Unity Group) from those sorts of threats and online comments then because at least one of your group and members of Iron Hour seem happy to court it, or turn a blind eye to it.
Understood. I believe one of our more notorious “fans” (i.e. no stranger to HMPs) has been banding such threats about in the last 24 hours.
Nicknames are fine. Can’t wait to hear.

Go on, then. Who are the offenders?
I dont need to name names. Plus they all hide behind online nik names.
If you’re going to chuck around accusations about toxic fans, why not name them? I would hate to think that anyone who asks questions or makes points that seek to speak truth to power is being labelled “toxic.” Many on here will have contributed significantly-both in terms of time of time and money-to support the club in coming back from brink and prospering on the field.
There was no fight . A heated discussion at best. I cant divulge the reason as its a private matter.
There are maybe 6 toxic fans who make unfounded accusations on a regular basis.
. If you would like to attend a committee meeting to address your concerns you are more than welcome .That’s fair. When I have been to Alty and West Didsbury & Chorlton, the songs have been far more inventive than you hear at league and ex-league grounds.
‘it’s a damning indictment of the modern game imo.’
I think that’s a bit general. More EFL and ex-EFL clubs in my experience. There are numerous non league clubs below us with a rich canon of amusing and inventive songs and and chants. Often self deprecating. Though they tend to be more left wing, liberal fan bases.

I know the lad means well and some people seem to like it. Sadly, it seems to have established itself as a club endorsed “good thing.” The canon of chants and songs was far richer and more inventive in days of yore and some of that is down to the drum. If we need that to get an atmosphere going, it’s a damning indictment of the modern game imo.

However, that doesn’t stop us puzzling over why a no-brainer decision (i.e. recalling Howe) isn’t being enacted.

March 26, 2026 at 9:42 am in reply to: Howe Can We Not Integrate A Proven Goalscorer In To Our Team? #318339A big test of Butler’a character and development as a leader. If something has gone on between him and Howe, he needs to sort it and get him back. I suspect Howe being hooked against Horsham was the flashpoint for any discord. Then again, Butler seemed to be lukewarm about him from the outset by repeatedly referring to it being his first season as a full time pro.
He’s in contract, he’s had a great season. Get him back.
If Farrell’s loan is not extended, Butler confirmed he has contingency plans. “We’ve got players out there who are on loan, who we can call back. We’ve got a plan B, C and D,” he said.”
Mmmmmm? Who could he mean?

I can live with the increase if it helps to cover running costs without recourse to begging bowl initiatives such as the one for the pitch renovations.

Do we really have too many non-playing staff? I thought that aspect was very lean. In fact, the lack of expertise in some areas is linked to the foundation needed to progress.
It’s not hard to see why we can’t meet the running costs, they employ to many non playing staff.
We expected and wanted change when Swanny left, it started to happen but the new owners had other ideas.
Amongst other things, Butler needs PR training. It comes across as immature and petty. He’s 42, so the young and inexperienced card has now expired. As you say, he should rise above it.
Butler has done a good job on the pitch, but he has a lot to learn with how to deal with fans of the club. It’s bizarre; he seems to treat anyone who says anything negative as the enemy.
Yes, some have gone overboard before with OTT criticism that have been proven wrong at times, but they are entitled to air their opinion and repeated jibes at them makes him sound prickly and insecure. It makes people want to stick it to him when form declines, as it did recently, through annoyance, so it serves a negative feedback loop for him. Such hyperbolic criticism from them is best ignored by him. Also, his arguments don’t leave leeway for constructive criticism, which he makes sound like it’s unwelcome.
Positivity Dave and the unity group are welcomed by Butler and the club because they give unwavering support no matter what. This may be preferred by the club because it is seen as nice and they can be surrounded by positive thought, but it insulates them. It creates a bubble. Sometimes we all need to hear scepticism to avoid mistakes. That is before we go into the divisive nature of some of these people, like Stuart Maw and Max Bell, who have stoked division, behind their curated image of just being positive about the club, by hurling unjust accusations against others and engaging in questionable social media habits.
This is so on the nail. 👏
One of the clearest signs of weak leadership is the need to be surrounded by yes-men. The moment someone only welcomes praise and treats criticism as disloyalty, they stop learning, stop growing, and start disappearing into their own ego.
History is full of examples of powerful figures brought undone by flattery, arrogance, and an inability to hear uncomfortable truths. Even in ancient Rome, there was a tradition during a triumph for a voice behind the victorious leader to remind him of his mortality and limits, often rendered as “remember you are mortal.” The point was simple: power, applause, and self-importance have a way of distorting judgment if nobody is willing to bring you back to reality.
Butler would do well to remember that surrounding yourself with sycophants may protect your ego, but it usually comes at the expense of wisdom, credibility, and sound judgment.

Spot on. The apparent failure to see that most critical feedback comes from a place of deep commitment to the club is worrying.
Does all this ‘positivity’ allow for any critical thinking whatsoever? I’m all for being positive but if doesn’t allow any questioning, it’s not healthy.
