Will be interesting to see what Butler does if we’re 1 up in a game and wants to protect the lead, many times last season we failed at this, watching Tuchel’s mastercalss against the Argies will Butler have learnt? Sadly one trait he has which is almost fatal for progression is his stubbornness and rigid approach. We need Butler to develop as a manager for the sake of him and the club. He shows no signs of development just yet.

Having forced myself to listen to the Humberside interview, I was hopeful he was developing a more mature, sophisticated and flexible approach to management. However, he still seems preoccupied by players’ “credit in the bank” and what he’s seen in training and on GPS data. I am interested in what they do on the pitch on match day. The rest is noise.

I promised to keep an eye on management mistakes from games this season
1.setting up with 2 holding midfielders while asking the attacking midfielder to priorize picking up his opposite number
2.playing a striker wide right instead of starting with a proven winger.
3. Not changing the organisation of the midfield 3 soon enough to give the lone striker some support.
4. Not organising the defence well enough to cover a back post runner from a free kick.
Let see what happens next week.
