Let’s hope Rob Smethurst wants to pump money into our club.
Being relieved of his chairman’s duties at Macclesfield, certainly done a sterling job there and not being scared to splash the cash to rise up the leagues.

What are the reasons for him leaving Awaywego are you in the know?

Let’s be right the club chased Ewen and when he said I’m only signing a one year deal then I will see, the clubs choice was to sign him or not. The fact they inserted the option addition and said to Ewen that gives us a little leverage over a fee for you then both parties agreed to it. I’m sure Ewen has had plenty of offers and he’s taken the most lucrative that suits him, fact it’s with a team in our league is neither here or there it’s all about money that suits both parties, good luck to the lad it’s a short career get what you can mate.

No need to change manager after a promotion and a top five finish which led to a playoff semifinal against a team that got promoted with a much bigger budget. We need to be realistic in more ways than one about our club.

Never judge whether to buy a season ticket on who may stay or go, been watching the Iron since 1964 so I just keep renewing because it’s cheaper and they are my team. What will be will be.

The perennial undisclosed fee, probably not a lot but can maybe free up extra wages for a decent midfielder fingers crossed.

Umbrellas annoy me far more than they should.

Even more so when someone writes a song about them and keeps repeating the word umbrella ad nauseum.

Well if we don’t have a club we can all do something else then, like reminiscing, actually I’d rather we have a club thanks. Look it’s about money and yes we need extra funding and if it doesn’t arrive that’s just tough. Life will still continue and our club will keep playing somewhere in whatever division. I know I’m stating the bleeding obvious but it is what it is.

Agree les the fans mindset seems to be “ we’ve lost Roberts we can’t afford to lose Ewing “, well maybe we can and may have to anyway, so it’s all about recruitment and AB has a pretty good record on midfield players so far, it’s just the waiting game for us as per norm.

Good points Siderite, also the vast majority of white males in this country don’t respond to coded hatred by a grifter posing as a responsible member of parliament by suggesting rage is the answer to all the country’s grievances and take to the streets causing violence and injury towards the police.

Farage is such an irresponsible pleb done on purpose of course then sits back saying “ nowt to do with me guv “. Completely opposite reaction to what the poor family of the murdered lad asked for, Farage gets more like a Trump clone everyday.

The Wharton model put us in the Championship and kept us in the football league, not sure it would now but it’s all about what works in what era I guess.

Driving a car with a chimney sticking out the back is so 19th century!
    Has nobody gone electric yet?

Our son drives a company electric car which is a big skoda, he says it’s quiet and fast but not that much fun to drive. No revving engine no slick gear changes just bland motoring I guess.

You pensioners must be pretty flush. I’m still driving a 20 year old Fiesta with CD player and fag lighter, plus rusted in spark plugs (common design fault).

Well you do use the loo more as you get older so pretty flush is quite appropriate 😂

Nice thing about the Ateca I bought it was registered as February 2025 even though it’s a 73 plate. This missed the new automatic systems introduced in April 2025 which means I never have to worry about the lane changing warning system as I have to manually engage it for it to work and like you NI I never use it. Don’t mind using the distance control on motorways, set your speed limit and let the car keep you at a safe distance plus you can disengage or re engage easily enough if you wish. Yeah I know I’m getting lazy but that’s tech for you some of it is useful some of it is pants but at least we have a choice still.

Roberts nagh, Keegan nagh, Keegan at Liverpool I would imagine so.
Got to have put the years in or score some important goal, Byrne and Garcia did both.
Kevin van Veen for his goal at Grimsby the only time in my 58 years of watching we won at their place.
Goalies, Barnard and Murphy deserve to be there imo.

Weren’t you there when Nigel Cassidy scored the winner in 1969?

I was makes you feel old don’t it?

Someone mentioned Keegan, I see today he’s confirmed he’s stage 4 with his cancer, such a shame, genuinely nice bloke and a great ambassador for the game, I still remember Kevin fondly from his time with us as a player, I was only a young teenager but my mates and I thought he was brilliant, great example to follow for any young player wanting to get on in the game.

Range Rover the most nicked brand in the country apparently or certainly was a couple of years back. A few owners I have known over the years say they are a bloody nightmare for going wrong, I reckon they have so much tech it’s counterproductive because it means there are more things to go wrong. I agree about the badge of honour thing but not to trust a reversing camera is crap IMO, I use mine on the Ateca and it’s great but like all developments in car tech it makes you lazier, good example is sat nav, my daughter uses hers all the time and consequently when you quiz her about a certain route she is clueless because she is used to being shown the way and therefore pays no attention to how she got there which to me is crazy.
