I too will be sad to see you go IFA. Will a good nights sleep, a little alcohol, a soapy massage and a win against York be enough for a rethink?
(Or maybe 3 out of 4 as 4 looks ambitious)The passing today was simply dreadful, Mick. 30%+ poorer than a month ago.
I particularly enjoyed the Aldershot player’s tactic of finding space on the pitch to receive a pass rather than our preference for standing next to an opponent. Could we try that maybe? It gives more leeway for passers of dubious quality to find a team mate.

Shown no inclination to try much 4-4-2 so far. Seems to be leaning more towards 4-2-3-1 recently.
Give them a chance! Smith and Dausch haben’t played much, Hurst a bit more but still not a lot. We’ve seen how good Smith is, needs to be playing from the start to get up to speed IMO. Also he’s our player which is another reason to give him priority. He’s a better player than Howe in the ‘left of front 3’ that AB favours.

I’d agree, shame their manager let them down.

Whitehall sledging? So that’s in addition to Manny hearing a second whistle and the ref putting him off by shouting.
Probably a photo flash as he approached the ball, a Scunny fan flashing her t**s and a couple of other things that they haven’t thought of yet.3 users thanked author for this post.
Just listened to McNulty’s post match interview. I’d say he was a really bad loser and can hardly imagine what he’d be like if they had lost. Not one bit of praise for our performance but justified their failure to win by telling everybody that we have beaten all the top seven ( Not sure how Carlisle would feel about that!)
The penalty appeared to be that ref’s interpretation of a rule that few appeared to know existed. McNulty thought the ref got it wrong but then admitted he hadn’t a clue. He couldn’t believe they didn’t win and was amazed that we finished with 11. Watch it again Jim and give some credit to the opposition whilst recognising your own teams failings.2 users thanked author for this post.
A “lucky” point? Probably but well deserved IMO.I certainly don’t get the Rochdale “bang average” view, I thought they were excellent apart from finishing. Some of their passing in the attacking third was superb, incisive and accurate. They rarely surrendered possession, something we did regularly, our passing is woeful at times.Second half was not easy to watch from our point of view, possession 80/20 might be generous to us?
“Remember a few night matches at Scotland in the 80s. Rum do’s they were.”
If you’re going to Scotland Deerey then you’re asking for trouble!

Always judge players on their peak performances, it shows how good they can be. NL players will not be at their peak every week otherwise they’d be playing higher. One or two below par can be excused (just) but when that gets to five or six that looks like a problem. Could be players playing when not 100% fit, playing out of position or something more sinister (I hope not)
Managers job to sort it.2 users thanked author for this post.
” Robbie Savage slammed his Forest Green Rovers team’s first half performance against Carlisle United as a “disgrace”.
Savage’s side were hit by three Carlisle goals in the space of 19 minutes and, while the Forest Green boss saw improvement after the break, his team still lost 3-1 to Mark Hughes’ Cumbrians.
I stand here and can’t defend that first half performance. It was a disgrace,” said Savage in a BBC interview.”Some similarity here from Saturday. Whose appraisal is preferable AB or RS?
A mistake? Maybe, but as I understand the situation>-
Howe wanted to play/start every week
AB could not guarantee this (quite right too)
Howe asked to go on loan to play games
So what choice did the manager have?An opinion:-
Done twice on the cheap out of necessity and it would appear that we’ll have to do the same again unless extra funds can be found. Don’t blame the lad for trying and don’t knock the club for encouraging the initiative.Truthfully, I’m not too concerned by the result today, disappointing as the performance was. You show me a side that doesn’t get properly turned over a couple of times a season. Could be a very valuable ‘lesson’ – a bit of a wake-up call at just the right time. Let’s see how they go, how much fight they’ve got, against Rochdale on Tuesday.
I was hoping that Horsham was the wake up call. Didn’t happen, I think we pressed the snooze button and dropped off again.

They got Cursons and we got a 19yr old wide attacker from Coventry.
No, we got a striker. It’s AB’s choice to play him wide, remember TSF & Dec Howe?

Can’t help thinking that AB missed a trick by not introducing the defenders to each other before kick off.
Shocking performance.3 users thanked author for this post.
Whilst at times we played some good, attacking football I felt, overall, we were a bit disappointing. No need to dwell on individual performances but the previously excellent midfield were well below their best last night. Deserved a draw, could have won, on to Saturday.

4-3-3 for me but we’ll see, hopefully not 3-5-2 or 4-5-1.
If AB picks the right team and tactics then we should be OK. We’ll have to be much better than Saturday to have any chance, can’t take 45 minutes to work out the opposition.
Hurst will become the new whipping boy for some, after all Beck is out on loan as is Campbell and AB who some wanted sacked less than a year ago has got us promoted and has us lying third in the National League, someone has to fill the void for the pathetic crew to chip away at, lol.
In case you hadn’t noticed this is a forum design to discuss all matters Iron and express (differing) opinions. I’ve not been impressed by Hurst so far and think Smith should be in instead of him and have said so on here. Being described as part of a “pathetic crew” is an unnecessary insult. Fans disagree on MOM as well as those considered below par players, it’s up to the players to prove them wrong.

Hopefully not for much longer.
Hurst rescued from being the worst Iron player on the pitch by Barrows performance?
It would be a tough call, I thought Denton was terrible.
Donny Rovers fans on x stated he had ability but was lightweight when we signed him. Dausch will take his spot. SST, heard anything in regards to more potential incomings ?
I’d expect it to be Smith not Dausch.

You’re right les, one shot on target at home not likely to attract the crowds.
Good job we:-
Made it count
Had ref assistance
Had ‘keeper with MOM performance (IMO)1 user thanked author for this post.
Where’s JB?
Was fear of injury the reason for the below par performance last week?
Now 3rd choice in the position that AB uses him and not the physicality to stand in for Whitehall. Not suggesting I agree with the decision but I can understand the reasoning. Surely means that the long awaited new striker is very close.

Pitch is terrible, nothing to do with the weather. Bring a bucket & spade to fully appreciate the pitch.
I think we are at the stage where 3 home wins would probably be the best outcome for us.
Don’t give up too soon. Home win for us (essential) and two draws would be OK.

“The shutting of the window in the Football League will open up more opportunities for his side. That’s because players who might have been holding out for a move to the Football League – whether out of favour at their current club or looking to head out on loan – will have no choice but to turn their attention lower down the footballing pyramid. Potentially faced with spending the rest of the season out of the side or on the bench, players looking for a move away could suddenly find the prospect of trying their luck in the National League much more appealing.”
A timely reminder from the Hartlepool manager that signings from the EFL now might be joining NL clubs because “it’s better than nothing”
Not really the attitude you want is it? Careful Andy!1 user thanked author for this post.
