No chance he’ll play the same team unless Carlisle play 5-3-2. He’s obsessed with matching up whatever the opposition do at any cost even if it means using players out of position. (Which it does!!)

I’m absolutely certain it isn’t Pat Jones. Complete waste of a player.

I’ll get the “we won didn’t we” defence out of the way first.
Setting up with 5 defenders and 2 defensive midfielders when AT HOME to a team who’ve lost every game this season is not for me.
I was impressed by Butlers solution to his problem of who is best playing wide left between Jones and Brennan. Answer – play one at RWB and bench the other. Simple.

How many defenders need to be injured for JB to get a start at CB?
Howe, Ogle & Rose not available and he still loses out to a LB!!

Further on into the interview the third shirt for this season is mentioned. Michelle says it’s due to be launched next week, and is in support of someone local who is trying to do something (outside of the club). James Moody says it’s a collaboration with an individual that they’ve recently done a small collaboration with.

    Gotta be PD surely!!

So called because the crowds spew out of it? Strange word I thought.

    From Latin I believe

Not really a new word then! Possibly the first time it’s been used in Scunthorpe, good job they clarified the location or fans could have been circling the AA for hours looking for it.

There have been several proposed line ups on here this season from “better managers” than Butler. As far as I recall no two were either alike or matched Butlers.
The positive, of course, is that none of the teams selected by Bruers ever lost.

“Supporters joining us for today’s open training session at the Attis Arena should enter via Vomitory 8 (the turnstiles closest to the ticket office). We will be opening the entrance from around 10.30am.”

For those of us struggling to keep up with modern language can somebody explain when, why and how a turnstile became one of those.

So it’s a “we’re happy to hear about what we’re doing right but have no interest in what we could do better” approach then? How will we ever improve if nobody listens?
Could it be that the manager’s attitude is directed from above?

Whatever the result a fourth successive s***e performance is unacceptable.
A scrappy 1-0 won’t stop the doubters, we need to see evidence of a team playing some attacking football to give us fans some hope.

Failed by getting us promoted and failing to win any of the first 3 games this season?
    Very harsh.

Can’t access either of Butler’s post-match interviews. Considering the shambolic defending was there any indication why 3 defenders that helped get a clean sheet against Stoke didn’t even make the squad? Not all injured surely.

In agreement with most of your OP HI but if I could only choose one it would have to be:-
“Finally, stop worrying about how other teams are setting up, find your own system and style of play and STICK to it.”

We have NL players for a reason, they are limited in their ability and that ability needs to be maximised. “Be the best you can be” – NA every week) Get them comfortable with one system and in their correct position.

Lack of quality can be no surprise when we see only one of the summer signings is a guaranteed starter in early season. ( And IMO that’s based on reputation rather than anything yet done in an Iron shirt) Effectively Butler, by his selection, is admitting that he’s signed players that are no better than those he had already.

The keeper can set an example by getting it “away” instead of rolling it sideways to a defender who then concedes a corner.

He’d be 6th choice there (7th if we count Pat Jones) and no better than 4th choice anywhere else, behind Smith and he doesn’t make the squad.

Not right at home not right at the club family comes first and he’s not inline he’s behind others, in the first 40 seconds.
    I listened,

But did you listen after the first 40 seconds? Still fully involved in training, still available for selection. Is empathy not in your DNA?

Gale has a left foot and can cut in like Jones from the left, just an attempt at balance which we often lack.
Can’t argue with your Whitehall opinion, I admit I picked on what he’s done rather than what he’s doing. (Or not doing whichever way you look at it)
Horton looked like a penalty waiting to happen against Southend.

We don’t have a LWinger with a left foot though. Brennan, Jones, Hurst and Smith all play there to cut in and shoot (as did TSF when he was here.) Maybe what we need is a left footer to play on the right?

    Jones
Starbuck Howe JB Denton (Injection of Pace)
    Rose Butterfield Rowley (Solid)
Gale Whitehall (if not fit Parker) Jones (Scoring potential)
    Strong bench:-
Campbell, Horton, Evans, Brennan, Beestin, Howe, Hurst.

    Not bad.
Can you leave out Jones after MOM last week?
    Will Whitehall be fit?
Can Gale do it from the start?
Has last night confused Butler even more?
Will he continue to resist 4-4-2?

    Interesting line up?
    No Smith
    No Whitehall
    No wide men
    4-2-2-2?
