I think there’s a lot to sort out on top of the nofence tbh but a quality experienced keeper is invaluable right now.
We’ve known this since last season, but Butler’s drive to be proven right trumps the club having a capable GK.
Even if one is brought in, we still need a natural CB in as cover as we only have 2 on the books and one of them now is crocked. Realistically this mess of a squad is going to have to be rectified probably in the off season of next season. Butler’s pissed most of his budget away on ridiculous players.
Barrows and Ogle need moving on. One of the GK’s need binning off. We need two of the left wingers changing to two right sided players. I’m pretty sure Richards will need moving on in the future as he’s nowhere Rowley, Beestin, Rose or a Butterfield at the end of his career.
Very little budget left to do any of that with.

( And IMO that’s based on reputation rather than anything yet done in an Iron shirt) Effectively Butler, by his selection, is admitting that he’s signed players that are no better than those he had already.

Couldn’t even manage Donny Rovers Ladies.
Get him gone before it’s too late.
NLN again would be a disaster, and just might spell THE END.
🙁August 23, 2026 at 11:07 am #325366I don’t think 10 games in is too late should things not improve substantially

He’ll be listening on Friday night if you tell it him. Go on, we could do with some Bhuna style entertainment.
August 23, 2026 at 11:16 am #325370Yep things are looking very worrying but lets give Butler 10 games … after seeing how nasty our opening run of games was my pre season prediction of 10 ps from the first 10 games was laughed at by some on FB in fact i was labelled an idiot on the SUFCFB cult page .. so after 3 games , 10 pts is looking rather ambitious now.
The team looks totally lopsided and even Gareth on Ironarmy match day vlog commented as such. Gotta feel for the 200+ traveling fans .. to draw level and then concede immediately TWICE is areal kick in the gonads.

How do you propose the club fund this move?
August 23, 2026 at 12:17 pm #325382By keeping the home crowd at the 5,000 level perhaps?

Very good point however we aren’t sustainable even with those crowds which we have exceeded a few times in the last two seasons, it’s a dilemma which isn’t easily answered.
August 23, 2026 at 2:02 pm #325401You would think we would be close to ongoing sustainability if it wasn’t having to service the Swann/Hilton parting gifts.
That is with an average level NL budget and near 5,000 home crowds. If we were fortunate enough to make the playoffs and fluke our way through them the tv money would probably make things a status quote financially in league 2 achievable.
If crowds in the NL drop to the 3,000 level, which is likely with a bottom half struggle then really bad things could be on the horizon.

If he had an ounce of decency he’d resign.
You don’t hold the club you supposedly love to ransom.August 23, 2026 at 4:08 pm #325417They got the club for no fee MK just like Dave did, they only had to stump up £500,000 grand for the ground.
When wanting/demanding Swanny to get out of town everyone was pretty clear even on here there was a debt of at least £3 million. There were no shocks, was just an ex league club carrying a small amount of debt in the scale of things, fans got what they wanted, like mentioned by myself and others at the time the grass isn’t always greener with someone else.
So what other parting gifts are you on about.August 23, 2026 at 4:15 pm #325419Awaywego you’re ignoring the enormous debts and ridiculous contracts that Hilton left behind.
He absolutely wasted most of it but at least Swann had put a lot of his wife’s money into the club. I’ve never seen or heard any evidence Dave put a penny of his own cash into the club.
August 23, 2026 at 4:26 pm #325420He paid the tax bill straight away £192,000 that was needed to stop the winding up petition progressing. Where did you think the money came from.
Paid the wage bill with very little money coming in season ticket money already spent surely it’s not that hard to work out where the cash was coming from.August 23, 2026 at 4:37 pm #325421Do you think Ebbsfleet fans give a flying f who their new owner who’s just paid the tax debt off. All they know is hopefully the NL will let them start playing football again otherwise they were toast just like Bury and Macc were.

By holding us to a contract in which he has failed, but still gets paid?
He should just resign.
If he’s as good as HE thinks, he’ll get another job.
Alternatively, perhaps the director(s) who kept extending his contract, when most of us were perplexed as to why, would pay him off?August 23, 2026 at 6:16 pm #325428Failed by getting us promoted and failing to win any of the first 3 games this season?

Seriously alcy give your head a wobble FFS, AB is living in your head rent free.
