So VOF can only whisper then?
Surely a matter for VOF.

Absence of activity, not unexpected, but also absence of news. Evans & Barrows due to sign last week – have they?
For balance Aldershot have just made their 6th, yes sixth, new signing.I trust my invitation is in the post.
“Hey Cass still a few pitch squares left 100 quid a throw come on you know you want one , oh hang on is that the new pitch or the old one and how deep does the 100 quid get you.”
Poor pensioner mate. Could you forego a couple of soapy massages and buy one?
Abdulmalik was running rings around them. As soon as he went off it was as though Dale had an extra man.
Fair play to them!Roberts, Scunthorpe & Abdulmalik, Borehamwood neither in NL next season I suspect.
Been standing too close to the drum?
How do we have an option on a loan player,is it to buy ?
You’ll have to tell us who you’re talking about.
A Dec Howe with experience (NLN) Not for me.
Wasn’t the initial seeding OK but the aftercare package lacking?

Maison Campbell and Louis Jones being retained worries me. I hope Butler has learnt his lesson and signs a quality keeper. I have a horrible feeling those are the two Butler will be banking on.
Maybe (I hope) Butler sees Campbell as a long term option. He could give him a (cheap) 2 year deal, loan him out to develop and sign another ‘keeper?

No unexpected departures. One big surprise – we have an option on Ewing which has been activated.Good news as a fee will be involved if he leaves, even better if he stays. Would expect all under discussion to sign except Roberts (unless that’s another surprise)
I wish Butler posted on here, I would love to know what he thinks we need. I’m not impressed by the MF we’re reportedly interested in. Maybe some clues when the retained list arrives later today as indicated.

If we can accept a Codhead how about keeper Harvey Cartwright. Contract at Targers ends this month, been there 6 years and had several loans principally Cods & Hartlepool where he impressed. 23y.o and 6’4″
Not sure about Bunker but don’t mind Nolan. Is he available or on contract with Morecambe?
No idea about his contract situation Deerey but they’re now NLN, have a new manager who might want to bring in his own players and they are subject to a new winding up order apparently. Could be unsettling for a player maybe? Fee might be a problem if in contract but how much for a NLN player these days?
Certainly in agreement with 1&2 MKI hence my suggestions above. 2 six footers should help with 1 and Hoti (if fit) 10 in 62 for Halifax and Nolan 15 in 32 for Morecambe should help with 2.
Bearing in mind the pool in which we’re likely to be fishing, here’s a few suggestions, 2 previously mentioned.
Released by FGR – Harvey Bunker MF 6’4″ 23 y.o.
Released by Halifax – Florent Hoti MF 6’0″ 25y.o.
Morecambe in trouble – Jack Nolan MF 5’11” 24 y.o.
All a good age, good size and decent quality. Go get ’em Andy!I agree, but can we afford to sign a player to make an impact from the bench as WG suggests. Surely priority has to be players to improve the starting 11 and move some of this seasons starters to strengthen the bench.

I hope you’re wrong. I’ve no time for anybody that wants a guaranteed start. If you show you’re good enough then you play, otherwise you wait.
But still got benched in a team with the worst defensive record in the league. Can’t have been that good.

“That’s not to say that we don’t have good, hard working and committed people, but (from owners to manager) they need a different mindset for us to kick on next season.”
And more money.

But that’s my point. Fitz has failed to excel at a higher level, had he stayed he might well have had another outstanding year and had that opportunity in L2 with us next season.
(But he’d have been worse off financially of course)
Other factors to consider are family and location. I’ve no idea of Cal’s situation. Does he commute? Swindon would be a long hike and even Oldham & Notts would be extra mileage. Would he relocate? Would housing costs increase? Does he have kids settled at school? Does he have a wife/partner with a good job? Not always about the money for everybody.
(I hope he reads this, I’ve almost convinced myself that staying is the best option.)2 users thanked author for this post.
Regarding Roberts, I’m hoping he’s kept in touch with Fitz. I know money is important, families to look after, but might he prefer the “big fish in small pool” future. Fitz went from the best NLN keeper in a promotion winning team to a bench warmer in a team relegated to league 2 and without the manager he wanted to sign for. Grass isn’t always greener and all that stuff!
Or maybe I’m just a naive dreamer?1 user thanked author for this post.
Retained list this week said AB.
The problem is that we have no substitute for Whitehall, Howe is a different type altogether. I mentioned on another thread our lack of physical presence and, IMO, it’s something we need to address. Without Whitehall we lack a focal point up front and, as his fitness for a 50 or so games a season is not assured, I think an alternative is vital.
I doubt it was his decision. He made little impact at the Cods albeit with limited opportunity. Maybe NL is his chance to shine?

Only you and Butler think Pat Jones is a WB (I hope)
Do you have inside info on 3-5-2 for next season?1 user thanked author for this post.
He means “anybody but Butler”

Big decisions for AB defensively. Defensive frailties have been obvious and recruitment is needed clearly.
BUT – we have Starbuck for RB, JB, Rose & Barrows for RB/CB, Evans for CB, Horton for CB/LB and Denton for LB. Surely have to be some outs to allow for the necessary incoming improvements. But who? -
