Beestin needs to be regularly starting. Not his best game v Yeovil but that was probably more to do with how he was told to handle their midfield. His goal return for us from midfield is fantastic (7 from 24 starts last season)…a repeat of his worldie v Southend last season would be nice.

Any of you travelling by train tomorrow, you need to be aware of this. Should be clear by tomorrow, but who knows in this heat.

Fenchurch Street is the alternative. It comes into Southend central, which is about 20 minute walk to the ground. If the Liverpool St line is still screwed, your tickets should be valid.

    Did they travel today?
    An over nighter?

Surely they aren’t going down on the day?

At 3/1, is anyone ‘Coxy’ enough to stick that in their Acca?

    Travel today.
Ready made excuse for a poor performance and a (probable), thumping by Southend.

Tenner says travelling today isn’t cited by club officials as a factor for getting beat today, should that happen.

No bet. I never wager money.

Southend only about 50 miles further than our average away trip this season and they travelled yesterday anyway.
If we get beat it will be because they are a very good side with a very good manager. All 23 other National League sides are very good with very good managers apparently. It might get mentioned that they have so many staff they can’t fit in the dugout and their player budget is 2/3/4 (take your pick) times ours.

I believe the player number squads are about the same 23/24 players per squad but Southend playing budget is around £600,000 pounds greater then the Iron budget , that’s just wages on players not staff and coaches. Basically they have better players overall than us because they pay them more so can attract better players to their club. It’s not rocket science or made up amounts it’s just basic logistics.

They’ve lost two of last seasons best players though and they have a rookie manager.
A couple of straws to clutch at.

Whitehall not in the squad, injured or kicked into touch? time will tell. Looks an attacking lineup on paper, let’s see how they do.

Similar disparity last season and we beat them 3 times out of 3. Higher salaries don’t always mean better players and higher budget certainly does not mean a better team. Thank goodness for that or professional football would not be worth watching.

What’s Rowley done to not be in starting 11?

Not tall enough or has to justify signing Richards?

Aye, Rowley instead of Richards would have made more sense.

Absolutely but it invariably in the end shows the bigger budgets win out most time, good job we have a gem of a manager in AB then, he must have been the difference last season
