August 14, 2026 at 11:36 am #324604Beestin needs to be regularly starting. Not his best game v Yeovil but that was probably more to do with how he was told to handle their midfield. His goal return for us from midfield is fantastic (7 from 24 starts last season)…a repeat of his worldie v Southend last season would be nice.

August 14, 2026 at 3:34 pm #324611Any of you travelling by train tomorrow, you need to be aware of this. Should be clear by tomorrow, but who knows in this heat.
August 14, 2026 at 4:13 pm #324613Cheers for that, already got Great Anglia tickets and wickford is on my route, is the alternative from fenchurch street, or other suggestions please.

Fenchurch Street is the alternative. It comes into Southend central, which is about 20 minute walk to the ground. If the Liverpool St line is still screwed, your tickets should be valid.

August 14, 2026 at 9:54 pm #324628Did they travel today?
An over nighter?Surely they aren’t going down on the day?

Ready made excuse for a poor performance and a (probable), thumping by Southend.August 15, 2026 at 9:27 am #324638Tenner says travelling today isn’t cited by club officials as a factor for getting beat today, should that happen.
August 15, 2026 at 1:12 pm #324639No bet. I never wager money.
But supporters will think so.August 15, 2026 at 1:15 pm #324642Some supporters don’t do a right lot of thinking
August 15, 2026 at 1:30 pm #324644Southend only about 50 miles further than our average away trip this season and they travelled yesterday anyway.
If we get beat it will be because they are a very good side with a very good manager. All 23 other National League sides are very good with very good managers apparently. It might get mentioned that they have so many staff they can’t fit in the dugout and their player budget is 2/3/4 (take your pick) times ours.1 user thanked author for this post.
August 15, 2026 at 2:14 pm #324645I believe the player number squads are about the same 23/24 players per squad but Southend playing budget is around £600,000 pounds greater then the Iron budget , that’s just wages on players not staff and coaches. Basically they have better players overall than us because they pay them more so can attract better players to their club. It’s not rocket science or made up amounts it’s just basic logistics.
August 15, 2026 at 2:19 pm #324646They’ve lost two of last seasons best players though and they have a rookie manager.
A couple of straws to clutch at.August 15, 2026 at 2:20 pm #324647Whitehall not in the squad, injured or kicked into touch? time will tell. Looks an attacking lineup on paper, let’s see how they do.

A couple of straws to clutch at.…as we have lost two of last season’s best players, could be an interesting afternoon cass

Similar disparity last season and we beat them 3 times out of 3. Higher salaries don’t always mean better players and higher budget certainly does not mean a better team. Thank goodness for that or professional football would not be worth watching.

August 15, 2026 at 2:31 pm #324652What’s Rowley done to not be in starting 11?

August 15, 2026 at 2:42 pm #324653Not tall enough or has to justify signing Richards?
August 15, 2026 at 2:42 pm #324654Aye, Rowley instead of Richards would have made more sense.
August 15, 2026 at 2:46 pm #324655Probably most consistent/best player last season.

They’ll go round us, through us, over us, under us.
Chasing shadows next week!
Let’s see.

Absolutely but it invariably in the end shows the bigger budgets win out most time, good job we have a gem of a manager in AB then, he must have been the difference last season
