“With the signatures now sealed on the dotted line for the management team, Scunthorpe United can confirm it falls within the football management’s remit to commence among players in the squad as we reach the business end of the season as they look to aim for a positive end to 2025-26 and shape their squad for the 2026-27 season.”
Roberts by Saturday and on from there.

To be fair to Musselwhite, he is the one shouting instructions when we are facing a corner, while AB sits in his chair..
Yes, but he’s shouting “stay on your line” to the keeper.

What’s Musselwhite done to deserve a new contract never mind improved terms.
Encouraged every keeper he’s worked with to stay on his line?

It is a sad day when a move to Oldham is worth preserving yourself for.
Is this Ewing, is the source reliable?
(I also believe that one of the three remaining “reps” has only attended one home game this season, so I am not sure how they keep abreast of supporter views?)
If this is true them I am puzzled as to how this person was selected to represent fans. Unless, of course, he/she goes to all the away games and presents the views of travelling fans.
Defensive organisation I hope.
Shooting from outside the box wouldn’t be a waste of time either.1 user thanked author for this post.
We called it “standard pass” – different part of the ground.

I posted a few comments on this thread without mentioning Farrell who I thought was excellent on his debut and gives me optimism (a bit) for the coming games where I’d hope to see him more involved.
(Not sure how keen Danny will be as Farrell got the Iron Bar MOM. Maybe if you’d nailed that header and got 4 in a 4-3 win you might just have edged it Danny!!)2 users thanked author for this post.
I see it took them 99 minutes to scrape a win against Morecambe who had 10 men for almpst half the game. Just saying.
Whilst we’re on passing again, what was Barrows success rate yesterday? 1 from 30 or so aimless punts down the right touchline. Sorry to pick on Ross, passing was abysmal overall, but he was the one that seemed to stand out as they were all so similar.
Was that in another interview Cass? In the one with Humberside that I posted he said ‘first half we were miles off it…’ and then proceded to explain why in great detail.
SUFC official Deerey, haven’t listened to the Humberside yet.

Just listened to AB’s post match.
“The first half wasn’t us”
Look at recent games Andy, that first half was exactly us. Don’t kid yourself. So was the best of the second half performance not the real ‘us’? He can’t do right for doing wrong it seems.
I didn’t mention the second half. I was merely pointing out that AB’s quote suggested that, in his view, the first half performance was a one off. It certainly wasn’t and if he thinks otherwise he’ll pass it off as “just a blip”, recent matches confirm it’s more than that. It needs sorting and he’s the only man that can do it.

Any correlation between Butler substitution bingo and conceding late goals?
Nah, pure coincidence surely.
There we are then, job done. One up against 10 men with 5 minutes to go. Goalscorer and main provider off to rest up, what could possibly go wro…….. Oh ****!!!!

They’ve been watching too much Rugby Union, it gains ground, keeps them away from our goal and sets the tone for the rest of the game – get it forward and hope we get lucky.

‘And no pass backs to Mahady, if Butler does not want boos from the home fans.’
Seems harsh. The occasional pass back to the keeper does no harm. Not if it becomes the go to move thoughFree kicks just inside our half played backwards when there’s an opportunity to put the ball in the opponents box is not a good tactic in my view.

Arrogant and conceited are not necessarily drawbacks for a successful football manager.
See Ferguson, Clough, Wenger, Shankly and Alf Ramsey for evidence. Bill would probably add Laws to that sample.Just about to post similar MKI with special reference to Sir Alex, a most unlikeable individual IMO.

I’m too young (just) to remember Max but I’ve seen old footage of him. George’s football was funnier IMO.
Square pegs not confined to current management it seems.
” I agree about getting a centre-half in on loan. We need someone who can organise and calm things down. Too often it just feels chaotic at the back, and that shows up in the chances we’re conceding.”
Chaotic just about sums up our recent defending certainly. But our defenders are all experienced, not kids and the manager was a defender himself. If they can’t organise an effective defence between them I doubt that bringing in a loan CB will solve the problem. A fit JB might but we don’t know how soon that’s likely.
Wootton, Godden, Chadwick – hindsight is a wonderful thing!
Reply to Rene on P1, sorry.
Consolidate in NL which was the aim of everybody (almost) at the start of the season IIRC.
I agree mick. One area where AB cannot escape criticism is his recruitment of loan players. I have always maintained that loanees should be guaramteed starters if they are to have the necessary impact. Westbrooke & TSF aside how many starts have we had from the likes of Eze, Chadwick, Hurst & Dausch.

Could it be a tactical switch? A few weeks ago the aim was 2nd/3rd to get a home SF. Has player power forced a decision to try for all away play off games?
1 user thanked author for this post.
Some players are not NL standard certainly but there are some that looked that good (and better) are now playing like NLN (and worse)
Have to agree about latest loanees, very strange choices and hard to see how they have improved the squad which seems short of numbers (temporarily due to injuries) and quality (presumably due to budgetaey constraints)
Has Roberts refused to play on the side of the pitch in front of the dugouts?Hammered tomorrow? Every chance.
Butler shown the door? No chance. Quite right too, lower your expectations.1 user thanked author for this post.
It’s speculation certainly but whoever suggested Ewing has a summer move agreed might be on the money. I can’t see any other reason for a quality player early season becoming a poor NLN substitute within weeks. He won’t be catching anybody’s eye on current form. Shame, he looked a real gem.
