Links work for me.
Unity Iron seem to have a problem distinguishing between Matt Ellis and Iron Bru.
Does Matt Ellis even post on here?
One of the problematic current issues is the conflation of Iron Bru and individual users of Iron Bru.
Iron Bru is a platform, an open forum. It’s not a club, or a mindset or a set of rules – and it’s not the Matt Ellis Appreciation Society. One person’s opinion doesn’t necessarily reflect anyone else’s. It also might. Some people have very strong negative opinions on certain things, some don’t.

Ok then, glad to hear they work… Mods, can you turn them into images please??
Mods, please delete this thread, there’s an issue with the links, can’t edit so I will sort and repost
‘my mother effectively indicated that it ought to stop’
Lol, I’m intrigued to know how this was relayed. Clip round the ear or a tongue lashing?
Did she give you a mug with Negativity Mama printed on it?
I’d be interested to know what the person PD was replying to was insinuating Bru was insinuating!
Earl on tuther side asking can’t we all get along.
Says we’re all in it for the same reason Mmmm. Can’t buy that I’m afraid, never going to convince me, Dave is all about Dave, not that we haven’t realised that from his conception, if anyone as ever looked like a parasite he fits the bill in a social context.
What a state off affairs that he has to keep that positive pretence up forever, well at least while he’s here anyway.
I don’t feel the need to get on with anyone let alone fan groups nor should I,I just go along and support the team surely that’s enough.
I get called out all the time on here that’s what happens on forums when you don’t agree, no biggie.Yet he seems to be the one stirring the pot, at every available opportunity. The comments he has managed to garner regarding Bru are despicable.
He does seem to have posted something for the purposes of inviting a pile on.
The matchday atmosphere at GP has never been as consistently “up” as it has been in the last two seasons – due in no small part to the drummer and his mates. Leave them alone, they’re doing a cracking job. If you don’t like it put earplugs in.

Well, at least it’s better than a drug pusher to kids.
Positivity Sherbert, you mean?

March 26, 2026 at 11:02 am in reply to: Howe Can We Not Integrate A Proven Goalscorer In To Our Team? #318345A big test of Butler’a character and development as a leader. If something has gone on between him and Howe, he needs to sort it and get him back. I suspect Howe being hooked against Horsham was the flashpoint for any discord. Then again, Butler seemed to be lukewarm about him from the outset by repeatedly referring to it being his first season as a full time pro.
He’s in contract, he’s had a great season. Get him back.
It’s becoming more and more apparent something went on that has been publicly unsaid – and, frankly, why should it be public knowledge anyway?
The radio interview after the match last night… The tone of it… Butler seemed to suggest Howe could come back but that would be a last resort.
Respect to Clunan for being “a busy c**t” (as Jaap Stam put it) etc, but this season has been much more entertaining than last season because the midfield has been more attack minded.

The disdain towards the Trust / Bru all seemed to stem from the 100k club fiasco (or whatever nonsense it was called). That was the impression I got from their responses during the fans forum anyway…they honestly still thought that it was a great idea that had the rug pulled from under them because of “noisy” fans.
The antipathy from the Board towards Bru and the Trust noticeably increased after that episode (not forgetting some of those that have been elevated since were signed up to the promo add) but they surely saw the outcry about entertaining fc1000 went way beyond Trust and Bru. It was heavily decried from most quarters
So if it’s not the issues themselves, it could be to do with the personalities involved then.

I seem to remember that, around the fiasco you mention, it was said that a member of the Trust and Mr Aitkenhead got into a shouting match?
I don’t think it’s fair to say they are as contemptuous as the previous two incumbents, but they risk losing good will, as argued. They can’t ride on the coat tails of saving the club forever without scrutiny.
For the record, I agree. I don’t think they are as contemptuous – I raised it as an extreme to generate debate. They certainly do risk losing the goodwill of some, though. Mostly those for who the effects of the Kool Aid have worn off, and who are prepared to actually stand back, look at the situation and think with some clarity (as per SODIron).
It’s the little things as well as the big (issues). The noticeable groaning and scoffing from the board at Matt Blanchard’s questions during that AGM thing – quietly out of order, imho. If anyone / anything deserves respect it’s actually Bru and Trust (especially over PD, Unity, Army and Hour)… Again, not to decry the enthusiasm or good intentions of those, but in the long game they’re not that credible, imho. They’re too close to be able to see properly, when needs be.
That’s the danger here. Not a few awkward posts on a forum. It’s the slow erosion of goodwill.
They’re like kids in front of a TV, though – unable to turn their eyes away from cartoon fans (like Positivity Dave). The loudness and brightness is cheerful and simplistic – and makes anything else seem a bit dour and drab, therefore negative.
The irony is that the club owes its survival, in part, to people who were prepared to be awkward when it mattered. Clubs do not get saved by vibes alone. They get saved by supporters who care enough to challenge, organise, question, and sometimes make themselves unpopular. If that sort of supporter is now seen as a nuisance while the hand-picked “good fans” get the nod, then the problem is not negativity. The problem is a culture that prefers applause to honesty.
You could reasonably argue that this trend also makes the current owners as contemptuous as previous incumbents, and therefore not much better.
To be a bit clearer, I’m not anti-Matt. I just mentioned it for balance – there are extremes of behaviour in all directions. Butler seems to prefer Positivity Dave-style.

I’m not aware of any abuse posted by Mr Ellis on Twitter, have we been reading the same social media site?
Some sharp criticism, but I’ve not seen any ‘abuse’. You would do well to remember, Apollo, the work he did in saving this football club, before making such aspersions.
I haven’t forgotten the work he did etc etc. That doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be called out for those occasions he acts the arse.
‘it’s more factual than Iron Hour and Iron Army, as in how we lose points in injury time.’
Is it actually more factual? I haven’t listened to Iron Hour for a long time but Butler did say they are occasionally critical and he doesn’t mind that. I suspect he might be making an inference between some of Matt Ellis’s more extreme criticisms on X this season and Iron Bru in general. Certainly nothing too extreme on the Iron Bru podcasts he should be getting upset about. Tend to concur with 64 – there’s something a bit Animal Farm regarding the Club (Inc Butler) and their attitude to Bru (in general) and the Trust and the elevated status of others and other groups. Perceived ‘boat rockers’ don’t seem welcome. That’s not healthy. But if so, even more reason for a truly independent supporter entity to exist.
Somebody should remove Ellis’s X log-in, particularly on matchdays, as that’s where he tends to explode and cross from criticism into abuse. Not one for keeping his powder dry.
If we’re doing things right then that’s brilliant, no need for change. It’s the things we’re doing wrong that promotes discussion.
Well, quite. “No need for change” is rather flat. It’s not quite the same as “happily talked about” and that may well be Butler’s point.
One example would be pointing out that we have lost X number of points after 88 minutes is not negative. It’s not expressing an opinion, it’s a fact and, as no solution had been found, why wouldn’t it be discussed on here?
Interestingly, of course, we’ve gained quite a lot of points from losing positions this season. Perhaps Butler’s thing about positivity (as opposed to Positivity) is more about balanced perspective.

March 23, 2026 at 11:15 am in reply to: Abibliophobia On The Pros & Cons Of Promotion – Do You Want Promotion? #318089This season, if we did happen to get promoted through the Play Offs it’d be a very slightly undeserved bonus, imho. I’ll take it if it comes, but York and Rochdale both deserve the success of going up and should be applauded for their aggressive pursuit of promotion and their general consistency. If we don’t get promoted (likely) then it’s one I’ll be able to easily take on the chin as we’ve had a good ride. More importantly, this season will have provided those at the helm with a vital lesson in ‘what it takes’ to mount a proper promotion challenge, not just try and get there on a wing and a prayer.
In my opinion Positivity Dave is getting flack for events that a really not of his doing .
It wasn’t Dave who moved the goal posts on share sales to the trust and decided to marginalise them for doing what we fans expect of them,” giving us be a voice
The narrative has changed in an animal farm way, gradually and subtly. Those who were once trusted allies and without whom the current board may have failed are cast aside.Have to agree with this. There’s something a bit suspect about the way the board has shunned the Trust and Iron Bru – or, rather (to be a bit more accurate / slightly less dramatic), the way they have wilfully downgraded them.
Without the Trust and without Iron Bru the club would actually now be gone. These are the two organisations that will question, challenge, stand up etc etc…
As generally harmless or decent as they may be, the rest (Unity, Hour, Army, Positivity, Voice) so far appear to pretty much be “useful idiots” who will toe the line.

It’s nonsense but I’ve seen posts on X by Matt Ellis to the sufcofficial account calling certain players “shite” and saying “get them out of the club now”.
Bigging up Iron Hour and the positivity fella are an easy way for Butler to hit back. Both extremes (PD fawning and Matt Ellis ranting) are embarrassing.
Clowns.
Prediction: Should we get into the Play-Offs (at this stage it’s looking highly likely) we will, in fact, fall at the first hurdle.

Someone mentioned to me that York are being investigated about funding. Is that true? Any investment needs careful due diligence this time. Too much laundry going on in lower leagues.
Thank goodness we avoided becoming a launderette.
Just to build on the original point about the danger of the “we’re safe” messaging.
The last two games; Yeovil away and Sutton at home, actually highlight the issue quite well.
Starting with Yeovil.
Yes, we won 3-0, and you’ll take that every day away from home. But if we’re being honest, the score line flattered us a bit. Yeovil had plenty of the ball, created some decent moments, and on another day they probably score. The difference was simply that we were clinical when our chances came, whereas they weren’t.
That’s great in terms of efficiency, but it didn’t feel like a performance from a team completely on the front foot. It felt more like a team doing enough and relying on quality in key moments.
Then you look at Sutton at home, and the contrast becomes more obvious.
We looked flatter, slower, and far less intense. The urgency just wasn’t there in the same way. Sutton, who are still fighting for points, looked like the side with more desperation at times.
That’s where the messaging point comes in again.
When a team still has something clear to chase; promotion, playoffs, survival, the intensity is naturally higher. Every tackle matters, every second ball matters, every run matters.
But when the narrative around the club becomes “we’re safe now”, it’s very easy for that extra edge to disappear. Not consciously, players aren’t deliberately relaxing, but subconsciously the urgency just drops a notch.
The Yeovil game showed we still have the quality to win games even when not at our best.
The Sutton game showed what can happen when the intensity isn’t quite there.
And that’s why the messaging around the squad matters. In this league the margins are tiny, and if the collective mindset shifts even slightly from “we need to keep pushing” to “job done”, performances can drift.
Hopefully the Sutton result acts as a bit of a reset, because if we play with the same focus we showed earlier in the season, there’s still plenty left to aim for.
If you listen to the latest BBC Radio Humberside interview, it’s actually difficult to decipher what Butler’s messaging is. He appears to be trying to cover all bases.
The fans who criticise, Mr Butler clearly said should stay away from Glanford Park, so that is why the crowds are not as big.
I am sorry AB, but when Boston come and totally dominate us, a mid table team, we are not going to sit quietly, having paid over £20..
Butler goes back to the League 1 then championship days, with zero negativity. That is when we had a good team, a great defense, Butler thinks he is better than National League, but i can’t see him lasting in league football..Those may have been successful times, but I actually remember plenty of criticism and negative feedback still sometimes being aired. It wasn’t all happy-clappy.

If we continue our current ‘form’ then we could quite possibly get pipped at the post for a play off position.
It could end up really tight.I said basically this on another thread a week ago and was shot down for it.
