I think the EFL are an absolute joke.

If there was any consideration of removing Southampton from the play offs then the hearing should have been held before the play off semi final home and away legs… even if those matches needed to be pushed back!
To allow the matches to be played and then sell tickets to the Southampton fans for a final is disgusting.

Saying that, some of the Saints players actions during the games against Middlesborough (The ball boy not giving the ball back etc…) Added more bad feeling towards the club on the back of the spying.
The whole thing is an absolute mess!!

I’m not au fait with the exact timelines of this issue – but perhaps cut the EFL some slack? There may have been serious evidence come to light late on.

What came to light was they cheated more than once, and of which Southampton knew to be against the rules and sticking one finger up at the EFL at the same time.
For once the EFL have got it right and should stop the so called spying for good.
It’s only the financial gains that promotion would mean that makes it such a big deal in this instance, if it was Salford who’d done it against Grimsby say the punishment wouldn’t have caused such a stir.
Gateshead the other year got thrown out the playoffs just on a ground issue not for cheating.
Luton got thrown out of a cup competition for breaking rules, so no suprise that Southampton have this time.
Now let’s hope the FA come down hard on them as well.

Southampton FC is now “under investigation” by the FA – so I don’t doubt there will be further sanctions placed on the club. Not sure what the FA will do? Financial penalty? As I said in an earlier post, I believe Southampton should be kicked out of the Football League.

Probably an apt time to remind everyone what the SFA did to Rangers all those years ago.

On that subject, just walked past this parked outside one of the most deadbeat pubs in Longsight after the SFA gig at the Apollo. Mystifying:

Rangers cheating was over many years and was huge in terms of the financial scale for Scotland.

Whilst they got punted down the leagues, they should have been made to start on the ground floor as they came back as a different club altogether.

If it had been any other Scottish club they would definitely have been chucked out of the League completely.
