Butler’s BBC post match suggested there was an opportunity for Aston.
Positivity Dave is talking out of his backside. No more signings coming in ?. Not the impression Butler gave in the post match Brigg interview.
This signing was announced on our official website as an initial 6 month loan and then shortly after taken down. Also been broadcast through people on Hull’s side the move had gone through.
No idea what’s going on here. All evidence of it has been deleted off the website. Never known anything like it before.
It’s either fallen through or it’s been incorrectly announced early.
Gale did talk about striker partnerships as if we’re to go two up top. Sounds like it. 4/4/2 ?
I can’t see it being anything but that due to paying fee’s for Brennan and Jones. I highly doubt we’d sign Brennan if he was planning to play 3-5-2 / 5-3-2.
If you read his interview regarding his role within the team this coming season, it doesn’t appear he’s been brought as a simple targetman.
” When asked about the conversations that Gale had held with Butler prior to joining the club and what made him keen to join, he responded: “I spoke to the gaffer on the phone before I joined, and we spoke about my role and where he sees me playing. I don’t think it’s going to be just as simple as me being up front trying to hold it up. I think there’ll be a bit more to my game this year in terms of runs and getting in behind.
“I think that it’s always good to have a good striker union and strike partnerships that can form. There will be different games where different partnerships will be needed”
Has he been brought in to run the channels ?. We may be looking to line up with two strikers this coming season.
Finally, Gale closed the interview by giving an insight into the kind of player he is and what Iron fans can expect to see from him during his time with the club: “I’m aggressive, I like running, and I can come up with a goal when I need to”
maybe that’s AB’s new striker option, which he tried at the start of our promotion winning season from NLN, certainly saves money
Saves money ?. All that means is we need a central midfielder to replace him, so it doesn’t save anything really. We need a natural striker through the doors. Beestin does quite well up there, but he’s best is in his natural position. We 100% need a fit and firing Beestin in CM.
I thought we looked more of a threat and had better balance in there last season when Beestin played but he kept picking Westbrooke.
I understand the signing of Hurst too. Good age, got decent pedigree and can play both wings. Looked sub par last season, but did arrive off the back of an injury at Darlington and came rusty. Only on a 1yr contract so not much risk there.

Plenty of wide options without involving Smith, give him a go in centre mid, he was reportedly playing there for Hamilton before he arrived and he certainly hasn’t had a great start since returning playing out wide.
Smith may become the attacking CM we need ?. Only Beestin with any attacking intent in CM at the moment.

MK, he’s a winger so don’t see how he’s come in to fill the Dawson slot. Hurst came lacking match sharpness and then picked up an injury. I wasn’t impressed by him, but after a Butler pre season beasting and games he might look a lot better. Good age, can play both wings and only on a 1 yr contract.
To be fair to him he was played a lot higher up in the leagues so there must be something there.
Brennan, Jones, Hurst and smith as the wide options. Smith worries me more for this coming season as we paid a fee. Smith is on a lengthy contract and was absolutely terrible last season. He seriously needs to pull his finger out.
We definitely need a more creative and attacking minded central midfielder. There is one more still to come in besides Hurst. Butler said in that interview, two were done, two we’re having medicals and we were in conversation with two. I’m no Carol Vorderman but I count that as six.
Also have 3 coming in for trials too according to Butler.
Appears Butler see’s Rose as more of a sitting CM this coming season.
Starbuck , ogle as RB options
Howe, Evans, Jb and Barrows as CB’s with Rose also an option
Horton and Denton as LB’s options
We certainly need no more defenders. Hurst will be signing soon to provide more competiton outwide. Butler mentioned he was due in for a medical when he gave that interview.
Still need a striker and a more go forward CM player. Richards is more defensive, as is Rose and Rowley is pretty deep lying midfielder. Only Beestin with any attacking intent from CM.
The wing wizard, Sir Kyle Hurst will be next one coming in. Butler said in that humberside interview he wanted to sign him and was due a medical.
Also mentioned there would be 2/3 on trial. Still need another natural CB and a striker through the door.
Barrows, Jb, Rose and Starbuck ?. Rose if proves his fitness you would have thought 1st choice RB with Starbuck as direct no 2. Jb will be 3rd choice CB/RB cover.
Is there any need for Barrows ?
Ogle rumour is baffling to say the least. 5 RB’s ?
Yes, only came back towards end of the season. Bit of an odd rumour. Only way it makes sense is if Butler plays Rose at CB.
Barrows isn’t up to it. NLN is more for him. New signing from Boston as mentioned above was awarded player of the season for Boston. They seem to really rate him.
Where has the Ogle rumours come from ?. Why would we sign another RB with Starbuck, Barrows and Rose already here ?
Him and Jones on the other side will cause havoc.
Definitely not mixed up, he is the player I was talking about. I could have sworn he spent two seasons in NLN, but clearly not. He did really well that season and was on fire season just gone.
You seen his stats from last season ?
He stood out in their play off game too in which he scored in.

I remember him from NLN north for those two seasons and he was one that caught the eye. Good player. Not saying he’s a direct replacement for Roberts because that would be not only unfair but unrealistic. One thing for certain, he’s contributed a lot at the level below.
Good signing. Looked really good for Buxton.Played fantastically season just gone too.
Him and Jones out wide first choice ” if fit” with Smith and Hurst as back up.
Need to see who the new CM is we’ve signed and still need a few CB’s and a striker yet !
“I’m struggling to understand some of the outrage”
I wouldn’t call it outrage, it’s more annoying than anything. I get that gathering sponsors is a way for the club to increase funds, but every other day they are seeking sponsors.
It’s getting a little silly and repetitive now.
We’ll be collecting the rain water on the pitch this coming season and sell it off in shot glassess next.

Not very inventive. All he’s basically doing in looking for people to sponsor everything. Is this the kind of creative mindset we really need for alternative revenue streams ?
I honestly think that’s the reason. If so, that’s penny pinching at it’s finest. Isn’t Gyasi a striker ?. Butler in his interview the other day stated a centre forward wasn’t one of the signings he had made ?
All he mentioned were wide players and a central midfielder.
Doubt we’re after a GK as we’ve offered contracts to the two we already have.

That was good for you Deerey, and even that was terrible.
Seriously need players in. The better free transfers are going already. From the buying already of certain clubs in this league, we’ll be lucky to finish midtable.
No doubt we would have been in for some of those already snapped up but the budget is killing us.
Possibly sellars flemming on a season long loan ?
Roberts must have been on a fair bit because he only re-signed at the last minute. Maybe we can strengthen the squad s a whole because that’s what affected us last season.

I always thought he looked like he had something about him, but Butler clearly didn’t think much of him. Always thought that was a bit strange.

Westbrooke was tidy enough but him and rowley were too alike and we lacked any real go forward from CM. I’d rather have Beestin, Rowley and whoever is brought in to play alongside those two. I walways felt we were too conservative with Westbrooke in there instead of Beestin.
Roberts will obviously be the biggest miss. If we can get Sellers flemming on a season loan, he’ll be replaced adequately. I wonder if Connor Smith will be given a shot in CM or give him another go out wide ?
Smith has to improve, surely !

I’d be happy with Rowley and another “whoever he turns out to be” with Beestin as the more attacking option. I liked Rowley, Westbrooke and ewing last season in CM, but thought it was a little too conservative overall. I always thought we looked more effective with Beestin in there due to Westbrooke and Rowley being very similar to one another.

Loan signing, only played about 7 games, but little ramon nunez. Complete left field jinking winger, think he was Honduran. He was exciting, albeit short lived.
Beags for overall contributuion was/is the best, but Lee Hodges on his day was pure magic.
Evans captain. Rowley vice captain.
