    Let him keep it.
When he runs away at the end of this season he’ll have to rent it us for peanuts due to the state he’s let it get into…or do some renovations that he’s failed to do for years😄😄😄

He’s done all those things and should go but if he does go then our Club goes.
We are screwed on and off the pitch by him

“No-one will buy the club, oh boo hoo!”

    Heard it all before.
So have Grimsby and many others.
Turns out not to be true.

And now our entire club is worth 50p and a half-sucked toffee, someone might take a punt.

    Also, Swann owns the ground.
    We’d have to rent it.
That means a FAIR rent…either peanuts given the current state of it, or he’s got to renovate it🙂😄

Turns out the “astute businessman” hasn’t done himself any favours either.
    And that IS amusing.

    Three words:
    “covid”,
    “absent supporters”.

Not his fault at all, you see?

If he says that, surely anyone interviewing him will ask, “Why did you bother buying the club if you are only going to fund it at such a low level?”

Except that we know the truth, don’t we Swanny?

Just been listening to Keith’s interview with bbc sounds: It’s been a while since I heard an Iron manager espouse such intelligence and positivity: I hope I’m not posting something that has already been discussed here.

Unfortunately his team have today recorded their seventh straight defeat, having scored just two goals in those seven games and conceded thirteen.

Do as I say, not as I do.
Believe him, or in him, ONLY when you can see it happening.

We’ve needed shut of this grade A turd for a while.
My guess is he’ll run away when he’s taken us down.

Personally, I’ve had no belief that we would survive since well before Sun-Return.
    This simply reinforces it.

Perhaps we should start building for non-league as soon as possible.

The one thing I like is that the ethos at the club has changed with Swann seemingly stepping back and letting an actual manager do the job he’s supposed to do. That should have been done years ago but at last it’s sunk in.

These are Hill players..not a chance Swann has had a hand in choosing these because they all make sense and they’re players in the positions we actually need.

Far too late in the day but I think the penny has well and truly dropped with Swannster.

Oh ye of too much faith…to misquote an old adage.

The pessimist’s take on this is that Swann has taken a temporary step back, but, when we are inevitably relegated, he will be able to point out that he tried, he gave the new manager his head, but it didn’t work out, nothing to do with him.

It’ll STILL be down to covid and stay away fans, you watch.

And next season, no matter what level we are playing at, it’ll be more of the same.
Lowest budget, release any higher earners, pick up the leavings a day or so before the transfer window closes, already sinking.

I heard there WAS a special offer.
Buy tickets upfront for two games, but you don’t have to go.

Or maybe a Swann special: buy one for £25, get TWO for £60.

Would you buy a used car from this honest man?

It was my team before you were a twinkle in your dad’s eye.

But Swann… everyone talks like “if we can escape this season….”
But what of next season? And if not wound up, the season after?

If he’s still here, there’ll be no change.

This guy has known it all and treated supporters like idiots snd enemies since day one.
I will not go again until he’s gone.
I shan’t even be at our last ever league game, as Mrs Alcazar wants to use our “covid passes” to go to France.

Most have been signed on short contracts, so what’s the chance they’d stay to play non league footy?

    There’s optimism, then there’s soft.

It puzzles me why you even post on this forum, it’s crystal clear you don’t even support to the club…all you ever do is moan.

If you truly supported the club, you’d put the Swann hatred to one side and back the players but you can’t or shall I say won’t even do that.

I can’t remember the last time I read anything positive from you.

Wind your neck in and stop posting guff about Hill.

    There’s positive for you.

Having supported them for almost 60 years now, my jaundiced view is pretty much set in stone.
This club has always seemed to set it’s supporters up just to knock us back again.
    They get going, then disappoint.
Lack of ambition? Planned relegation? Piss-poor business management skills? Who knows.

But no-one should make the mistake of thinking that I actually like, enjoy, or approve of the predicament we’ve been put in by Swann’s stupidity, ego and broken promises.
I’m as devastated as the next man.

But even if we escape this season, I will NEVER forgive Swann for turning us from a club others looked up to, into a laughing stock.
Nor will I EVER either believe, or trust the guy again.

And nor should any sensible supporter.

He’s had his chance, messed up, and if he had even one shred of decency, he would give back the ground and land, and walk away, taking his useless rude family with him.

Sell the club for £1, and give us back our belief.

I think a huge part of that is because clueless pillocks behind the scenes were choosing players when they had absolutely no idea who or what we actually needed.

You can tell now that Hill has free reign to bring his own players in and I suspect even if we go down that the squad will be more than competitive. Hill is staying here as part of a long term project which is only good news.

Most have been signed on short contracts, so what’s the chance they’d stay to play non league footy?

Alcy, thanks for posting this. The Cod is spot on. This is not a dig at you, but a few days ago you posted that you fell out with Wharton because he lacked ambition. A poster listed Wharton’s achievements against the lack of achievements by Swann.

The above article explains where we are due to being over ambitious, yet Wharton achieved without us tumbling down the league after relegation from the Championship.

    Confused!!

I’m pretty sure I actually wrote that Wharton SEEMED to lack ambition.

I based this assumption on more than one observation.
First off, his apparent reluctance to fund decent signings. “We tried but the lad didn’t want to come”, and the joke about 50p and a half eaten toffee didn’t come from nowhere.
Second, the unseemly haste with which any half-decent player was sold on, and his acceptance of low offers just to get some money in. We NEVER looked like keeping decent players for another season or so, just to see where they might have got us, and to allow the paying, and long suffering supporters chance to see a quality player in an Iron shirt.
Third, his apparent reluctance to try and fund success, (see 2, above), while the supporters paid and paid, week in, week out.
And lastly, the almost obscene haste with which teams that had reached the Championship were dismantled.

I’m not going to mention what really got up my nose, since I’ve recently mentioned it on here and the thread was removed. Seems we are still favouring fear over the truth.

Let’s see. I reckon we’ll know where we are in about 6 or 7 games time Alcy. If you’re correct then enjoy it. If not .. then I certainly will.

    See, this is your problem

You seem to believe that anyone criticising our club either isn’t a supporter, or, worse, is happy with the mess we are in.

It’s called a straw man argument.
look it up and learn something.

‘Ooh it’s a corner!’. I remember a teacher saying that before I started going to the OSG regularly. Never did hear it myself, must have died out, but his rendition didn’t do it any favours!

Also, “In the net! In the net! In the net!”

This as our man took the corner kick.

Let’s all do Matt a favour now and draw a line in the sand eh? Use the forum without reference to past issues and rehashing grudges? There are more important things Iron related to be concerned about and no one needs to keep seeing all this tit for tat and division.

    Works for me.
But judging by the snide, and often downright nasty, comments on this thread even before NFR comes back, I dont hold out any hope for it.
Nor do I have much faith that our friend will moderate it fairly, if at all.
    But we’ll see.

I used to follow away games on BBC Ceefax.
Still probably one of the most exciting ways to follow a game.
The screen would update every thirty seconds or so, and if anyone in your division had scored it would revert back to top of the page!
Then you had to scroll down to see if it was us, while hoping it wasn’t the opposition.

    Exciting times.

It’s a frigging forum. People have different opinions. There is no such thing as an “average user”!

Posting multiple repetitive videos with no discussion adds zero balance. It’s spam.

When will Alcy realise that it’s not unusual to find that at least 6 football supporters who grew up in the steel town of Scunthorpe in the 60s, 70s and 80s are also supporters of the Labour party.

Neither is it unusual to find more than 6 Iron supporters and forum members from the same background who don’t support the Labour party.

The forum is free for all to comment. Just because you don’t agree with some of the posts, is not a reason to spam with the purpose of closing it down.

Hopefully the mods will deal with you if you do it again and quickly boot you off!

The cancel culture I spoke of earlier.
You cannot help yourself can you boy?

I say again: If you have the right to post your lefty liberal rubbish, then I must have the right to post whatever I want to, whenever I want to do so.

Who are you to say I should be cancelled, removed, booted off, because you dont like my posts?
    If you don’t like, ignore.
    And grow up.

Yes, I am only being a tease. :-)

Hopefully, if alcy actually wants to put forward his views he can do so in a more sensible manner. Have specific threads where each corresponding video goes in, instead of endless spam of separate threads. :-) There would be no issue there for me.

I don’t care if you have issues or not.
Your input to this thread so far shows you up stiff.

And the responses of others do not lead me to believe that ANYTHING will change.
No-one has learned anything. So be it.
