June 2, 2026 at 1:02 pm #321419Excellent choice Alcy. Early Simple Minds were great, right up to the stadium filling stuff, which wasn’t that bad either in retrospect. One of my favourites from around 81-82:
June 4, 2026 at 3:46 pm #321475June 4, 2026 at 7:08 pm #321482Sound of my childhood on Riddings in the Spring, when every fourth or fifth house had a song thrush or a blackbird on the tv aeriel.
🙂🙂June 5, 2026 at 5:03 pm #321537From the new album

Was in 1959/60.
Most of it not complete, roads not made up etc.1 user thanked author for this post.

June 6, 2026 at 3:11 pm #321596Happier days.
Top shops not been long open, everything clean and new, almost every shop you’d need.
And probably the best chippy in town, where I got more chips for my four penn’orth than my dad got for his sixpence.
Mind… I could barely see over the counter.
Ley’s Farm was a farm although derelict, even then. We used to watch skylarks over the fields, then find the nest below.
And you could walk from Messingham Road, west across fields to Scotter Road and not see a road or a house.
Canada Farm was still working, and both the Moor well and the Brank well were actual wells.
Further across was Gravs, an old gravel pit, very wild.
Happy memories.
Except for Bottesford Beck… it was an open sewer and you could smell it from 50 yards on a still day 🙁1 user thanked author for this post.
